- How To Color Detailed Leaf Texture With Colored Pencils. Every leaf has texture and here is a trick to get your colored pencil drawings looking more realistic. Coloring books are full of fun leaves. Apply this trick to your Adult Coloring Pages or your original artwork.
Color with Water Drops and Dew. Here is a great texture to use with all leaves. The shiny finish was done using Krylon high gloss seal. The sketch is by Alena Lazareva and the whole leaf series is available in her etsy shop. Link below.

I've been so thrown off of my routine since I've been here house sitting, dog sitting. I can't even sit down and color for a couple of hours. It's weird! So I damn sure not going to try this one until I get home! 😂😂😂. Turned out amazing! I can't wait to try! 😊 😉 💖!

Amazing that's all I can say. I have gone back to work so I havent had time to watch your videos. I'm off today for the 4th, so I'm catching up. These videos are so helpful and easy to follow. A million thank yous❤🎆🇱🇷 Happy 4th to you Lori!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!! This is perfect for the bigger leaves on all my coloring pages... I like this pencil stroke!
Lori, can people join the FB page even if they are not submitting pages or wanting to be put in one of your personal classes?
Lori, this is awesome. How many layers of fixative can one used between layers of pencils? Thank you so much! ❤️
For the veins in the leaves, I seem to recall you had a technique where you did the veins in tosca first and when it dried you went over it with colored pencil. Am I right about that? It looks like the veins are pale Sage. And you've also dropped a shadow around them so that they stick out. Just want to make certain I'm getting this right before I tackle the leaf
Loved learning a new stroke. Now if I can only get my downloads to cooperate. I bought them from Alena, but something has gone wrong and they won't print or download for me to print, I should say. I bought the bottle and the leaves too. grrr. I'ma gonna figure it out eventually. Thanx for another great vid Lori.
You're not alone. It's not wort it to my sanity to fuss over.🎨♿👵 Barb

What is that little ball tool you used with the white ink? Is it for doing nail art?
Would a workable fixative help with layering on the more smooth paper??
yes'
Dear friend thanks for sharing your video i can learn because leaves and backgrounds are horrible by me, sorry for my bad english 💜💜🌹🌹
Leaves are a big bugaboo for me. I want the things I color to look real whether it is a rose and its leaves, a child playing with a ball, a woman in her native dress, etc. This is why my favorite books are by Leila Duly. So many books, beginning with J.Basford's Secret Garden do not draw realistic leaves. The leaves, and flowers, are too stylized for me and turn me off a coloring book/artist/illustrator. I also feel challenged in creating a variety of leaf shades which are true to life yet different enough to make the picture interesting. When you Google flowers most of their leaves are in the yellow-green category, some in a straight green shades with few in the blue-green category. As much as I love the blue-green shades every time I try adding those shades to my pictures they seem to clash with everything else. I'm frustrated with my leaves.🎨♿👵Barb
