No one was complaining about the conference champions getting a bye until recently. Now, suddenly, the system is broken because the power 4 conferences shat the bed. That’s why BSU is getting a bye that we all thought was destined for a power 4 conference champion.

The college football committee would select who gets a bye and the final 16-13 spots. The group of five are guaranteed 3 spots if they are ranked. Before one can get into team specific there should be boundaries set. Otherwise we get into handing out participation trophies 🏆 First boundary is respecting all teams that are undefeated! A system should allow any team the right to post season play if undefeated so there can only be one team left undefeated. That would then make it possible for a team to not have to play in the conference game like Oregon. Next rule: auto bids for conference champions which we now have for the most part. However, that is where we need to begin eliminating teams and treating that as an elimination round. The runner up is no longer eligible for an at large bid. They already got the privilege to advance by winning at that point. At large bid given to those teams worthy that didn’t have so privileges extended. Next rule is teams will not be considered for at large when their is other opponents with better win records ahead of them. For example: we already have priority to undefeated teams. We always respect winning on the field first and foremost. Second we are comparing one loss teams against one loss teams. If there is room to place more teams we compare two loss teams against two loss teams. Only way a three loss team plays is by auto bid or if we have room to compare three loss teams against three loss teams. We these type of rules and boundaries we have a process of fairness that gets away from what conference and recent bias for teams or their brand or history or ratings they might bring. Obvious the networks paying the money would love to just matchup their teams of choice rather then play on the field. If your team has three 3️⃣ losses this year they are virtually eliminated l!!!!!!!!!!!! They had a chance and they lost like one ☝️ two 2️⃣ three 3️⃣ times. They suck 😢
Everyone says Sec is a stronger schedule but the SEC teams lost to the weaker teams in the conference. Your argument becomes moot at that point. Can’t be losing to Vandy and UK and say our schedule was too hard.
I agree that this playoff structure has to change. Boise and SMU getting first round byes is ridiculous. The ACC and Big 12 should not be considered power conferences anymore. They really just aren't that difficult. Just going with the old ranking system and having the top 12 ranked teams getting in based on who is ranked highest would be better than this.
Bsu only lost to Oregon by 3. If Oregon wins the big 10 I’d rather have them than any of the other option. Ur only loss is to an undefeated team. That’s the best loss to have if you have 1 loss.
Miami literally can’t be the 12 seed unless they rank ASU as the 10 seed overall. Which is not gonna happen. CBS doesn’t even know how the format works lol. ASU will have to be 12
All these teams complaining-just STFU. Most these teams wouldn't even have a prayer under the old system-let alone under the 2 team setup. All the teams left out had chances but lost multiple games-including my Colorado Buffs. We have gripes-we got screwed on convoluted tiebreakers in a 4 way tie...when we didn't even get to play any of the other 3 teams we tied with.We also got screwed in the Kansas St game. We probably win that game if Hunter,& another of our top deffenders-plus Jimmy Horn-dont get hurt in that game. Let alone if the Big 12 refs call a blatant 4th down pass interference-theres a high chance we win even with all those guys out...or at least go into OT with a FG. But we also lost 2 other games vs unranked teams,& were very fortunate to beat Baylor. Besides-before the season I would've been happy with 6 or 7 wins,& absolutely ecstatic with 8. 9-3,& Hunter all but guaranteed to win the Heisman is a phenomenal season,& if we win the bowl game, finish 10-3,& ranked probably somewhere in the teens-thats way beyond my wildest dreams. But everybody who gets left out lost games-mosg of them multiple-that would've got them in. But if Miami does get in that's an absolute joke. Their defense is awful, they have no impressive wins,& could easily have 4 or 5 losses right now in a conference that's probably little better at the top but weaker in the middle,& bottom than the mediocre Big 12. Not garbage like the MTN West this yr-but not close to the SEC or Big 10 either. But just about everybody else they have in has a strong argument.

Miami does not have an impressive win and hasn't looked good in wins. So now it is down to bama and Ole Miss, which i think is a toss-up, but i think what edges out ole miss is loss margin ole miss has lost by 13 combine points, bama has lost by 33 combined points. That is my case for ole miss,

The easiest filter to tell who knows and doesn't know football, including Gus Johnson. 😄✌
Although he may be technically correct, saying that was hilarious because everybody knows that Ohio State is his network's cash cow. He is Ohio State's hype guy and should basically wear their hoodie when he calls their games. This is coming from an Alabama fan. I've never seen such bootlicking by a commentator for a college team.
@@daygon128 so you never watched gary danielson call alabama games?
@@CroMagJohnson He was more of a Florida and Tebow sucker.
All we know for certain, is that the selection committee will make the 12 team playoff more controversial than the 4 team playoff.
Michigan is a 7 win team. They have a great defense, so that is still a good win
"reward Notre Dame with Arizona State"? I dont think this guy ever actually watches college football. He just looks at numbers. ASU is dominating. They're special. Keep dismissing them, and see what happens.
You think Arizona State would beat ND in South Bend!?! 😂😂😂 Good luck 🍀
@@sankofa1906mt Northern Illinois & Marshall did it

Both ND and ASU have been playing great football lately. But ND has more talent and would be at home. So I think we’d win.
@@sankofa1906mt yes, I do think ASU can beat them, just like northern Illinois. What a horrible loss. All the teams in the playoff are good, and anyone can win. ASU has the magic right now. SEC is the best,
I don't think its fair that osu can't make big ten chip even though we lost to ttun we beat penn state and destroyed indiana both and penn state both top 10 teams.
Notre Dame vs. Indiana would be cool.
If Georgia looses with 3 loses how can they still be in ?? Atleast over teams like Ohio state, pen state etc..
SEC privilege
Beating GT in 8OT gets you an automatic 5 seed or better
Bc they have 3 top 12 wins & the hardest SOS for a top 25 team since I believe 2002. Committee isn't going to punish teams for losing in a 13th game they earned that other contenders didn't have to play.
because they made their championship game, Georgia gets in with 3 L's over Indiana a 2 L SMU, 3 L Ole Miss, Bama and SC they will get in win or loss next saturday
UNLV just taking care of business.
Will you look at my rankings they come out at 4pm today
better have bama in there
@ why wouldn’t I
ND will be 5 and Miami will be 12 to generate the TV numbers of a "Catholics v Convicts" revival.
It’s not argue if, winner of UNLV Boise is in, the other is out
CBS is a joke. Their college football contract is a joke. They don't know anything about college football, they should have kept the SEC.... and I'm a B1G guy.
When Indiana is ranked above OSU on Tuesday can I get a shout out?
Miami has Cam Ward and a brand.
What brand? Lol Miami hasn’t been relevant in decades.
@@karldergrosse-333lol Miami STILL hasn’t won the ACC title game in its history while SMU could very well win it in their first season.
That’s the big story in college football this year.
Miami should be out, and IF Notre Dame is top 4 tomorrow, they get the 5 seed. If you don't play in your conference championship, you can't hold Notre Dame's independence against them.
Okay what are UNLV’s chances of making playoffs? We did already lose to Boise and Syracuse so our chances are looking pretty low.
I'm hoping for Miami to get in just because I like Cam Ward a lot and want my Giants to draft him, and I'd like to see how he does in a playoff environment. Should they get in? Probably not tbh lol. Their only shot is SMU winning the ACC though
Miami Vs Notre Dame round 1 would do crazy numbers. Voting committee might take that into account lol
I don't understand how they could consider putting in 4 B1G teams with the last one coming off that loss with no conference championship game to their name. It should be 3 B1G, 4 SEC, 2 ACC, Big 12 Champ and Group 5 Champ and Notre Dame.
Screen shot this THE NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH WILL WIN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!
Yeah just ignore all of ND's stats in their games since they lost......just like everyone else, you are just showing how much you don't know about CFB and only going off win strengths, which is only a portion of what gets factored in.......you literally have the most one deminisonal takes I have seen yet
The SMU disrespect is crazy

@@soboredrn-v8e your list don’t mean nothing
Before one can get into team specific there should be boundaries set. Otherwise we get into handing out participation trophies 🏆
First boundary is respecting all teams that are undefeated!
They suck 😢
Boise State could come out easily on top Boy she said is looking good other than that loss to Oregon
If you don’t even make it to your conference championship game, you don’t deserve to be in the playoff.

I might be biased as a BSU fan but I simply don't see the problem
Bsu only lost to Oregon by 3. If Oregon wins the big 10 I’d rather have them than any of the other option. Ur only loss is to an undefeated team. That’s the best loss to have if you have 1 loss.

Miami literally can’t be the 12 seed unless they rank ASU as the 10 seed overall. Which is not gonna happen. CBS doesn’t even know how the format works lol. ASU will have to be 12
ASU will be around 13/14 this week and if win vs top 20 ISU could get to 11 or 10

No way a team that got cooked by an average Oklahoma team should make the playoffs...
Crazy if it comes down to SC and Bama they’ll pick Bama even though SC is playing better rn
Ryan Day ne ds to go. He blew it.
Thanks

PSU we would have been better off if OSU won. we lose to OR and possibly drop out of a first round home game.
Who cares. I want to watch my school play for a big ten title for the first time since 2016. There will be plenty of years ahead for PSU to sleepwalk to a home playoff game
You can’t count a conference championship loss the same as a regular season loss. So a 3 loss Georgia is better than a 2 loss Ohio State
Nobody in the bracket is unbeatable so as a ND fan idc who they play cause it'll be at home. Send Miami SMU anyone from the south to South Bend in mid December they aren't ready for that weather
In my opinion, as a ole miss fan, i believe Ole Miss is the best team out of miami, SC, bama, and Ole Miss. SC lost to ole miss by 24 points at SC, so how can they be above ole miss. Miami does not have an impressive win and hasn't looked good in wins. So now it is down to bama and Ole Miss, which i think is a toss-up, but i think what edges out ole miss is loss margin ole miss has lost by 13 combine points, bama has lost by 33 combined points. That is my case for ole miss,
Explain why Notre Dame wouldn't want Miami considering Miami can't stop a nosebleed and there is a common opponent? Ga Tech....who Miami LOST to and ND handled 31 13. Clearly haven't watched a single Notre Dame game this season
Less losses means better.
Ohio State should have to go on the road and play. Why reward losing at home? I doubt they will get it right because the media treat Ohio State like a delicate princess, gotta protect their feelings at all costs. 😂😂
