One reason I follow your channel is your desire to customise your boats and kayaks to fit your needs. I love that you have the initiate to do that and I love your ideas and your decor style. Thanks for your videos Zoffinger!
Marty i know this is an older video, but i love all your vids. I purchased my 1st 2019 pelican kayak, and recently my 4 hp outboard motor. Which I'll have all winter to design and make it my own. You inspire me and many others. I'm kinda like you, On my own, disabled with heart disease. But able to work 2 day's a week for Jetblue around my airplanes for the past 20 year's. I've been on the ocean most of my life, with my dad. But now he's gone. Someday my dream is to restore a 20 ft cuddy, but for now i love the pelican, an over night fishing and camping trip. When the day comes that i can purchase my dream vessel, I'll keep my little 4hp boat, as it will be sentimental, just like my 2008 jeep wrangler I've fully restored. Just wanted you to know how much we all learn and appreciate you. I fly free and hope to meet you one day, when i take a week to visit family. God bless you and the puppies. Stay safe🙏🙏
Great video man, I have so much respect for you as a angler and as a individual. Keep up the good work, I always look forward to watching your videos. Tight lines brother!
Glad to see your using the Jon boat again. After your teaser video I was curious on the changes you made to it. I'm starting to get a little jealous of you. The only thing I caught on my last trip was weed fish. The only bite I got was from Mosquitos ( probably missed spelled). Thanks for sharing.
Hello, i was wondering if the added foam on the outside of the boat really helped stabilize. And also wondering if it started to deteriorate with the saltwayer
great channel. You seem like a good, gentle soul. Hope you can make it sometime to fish over here in the Jacksonville area...lots of backwater intracoastal fishing available.
been thinking about getting getting a small jon boat like yours recently, dig the modifications you did will certainly be doing that to mine when i get it! My dad wants to go fishing with me but cant do kayaks anymore sadly.
Love the videos! Can't wait to see you land a tarpon. A guy caught a juvenile at anclote gulf park pier 3 days ago on a green back. No fish for me yet. Tight Lines sir.
zoffinger I found your videos looking at concrete molds. That's what is mostly my business but caught on fast to watching ALL your videos! Good job buddy. My wife and I truly enjoy all of the them! Looks a lot like all the inlets around where I live in Florida. Is that the Pinellas County area? Without giving away any more secret info? Ha! Cheers
i always wanted to have foam filled side bumpers to screw to the sides of my small boats. keeps the spray off and increases buoyancy in case of being swamped. its a shame you don't have access to machine shop equipment.. i also wanted to take an outboard powerhead.. mount a jet pump impeller in a custom big foot lower housing driven directly off the vertical shaft. but the big foot is bolted to the hull with the inlet thru the hull.. and there are multiple outlets.. 2 large outlets to go to transom thru hull fittings.. smaller fittings with spring loaded covers to the bow... and one on the side of the transom and one on the side farther forward.. so you can control the outputs and have full directional control.. now if one used a diesel outboard power head.. it could be mounted in sail boats.. to give them aux thrust and full in harbor thrusters for docking or turning.. my thought was also to have a rotary disc on the bottom of the big foot base... so it could be rotated like the top of a seasoning bottle to give you various opening percentages or totally closed..
You just put the foam on the boat and shaped it? It simply sticks to it like that, or did you sand it a bit? Im literally looking at doing the same thing. Funny thing is, I have a NuCanoe I fish from, and I have the same blue stripe 7.5 Merc I want to put on a johnboat.
Awesome video now I have motorboat envy! I have such a hard time finding fish anywhere near a high tide. But any tide that is low is off the chain for me, the bay comes to life! Any pointers to help me around those high tides?
You are one cool dude Zoffinger. My dream boat is actually a small jon boat so my son and I can explore old Florida together. We would of course do a lot of fishing.
First off thanks for the cool videos I really enjoy all the diy stuff you do. I'm a kayak fisherman and thinking about adding a small jon boat to my collection. I would like to know how did you stick the foam to the outside of your boat
An old fishin' buddy used to have a Jon Boat he named "The Dirty Oar". We caught many muskies in the mid and upper 40" range out of that boat.... Ah Great memories.
witch one is better... jon boat, or kayak? i'm 17 with little money. i was wanting to ask you (because you're my favorite kayak fisherman) if it would be worth spending all that money on a jon boat, or if a kayak would be best for me.
Zoff, you're the man. I sold my kayak so I can get a 10ft vhull jon boat for me and my son. I wanted to know if the foam that you put on the side of the boat would help stabilize a vhull jon boat? I want to make it as stable as possible, so I can put a deck in the front. When you get a chance let me know your thoughts! Also, I'm excited about the Okeechobee Part 3 video!
How comfortable where you with the styrofoam added to the outside of the john boat. Conpaired to the Pelican 10 E can you give me an explanation on the differance or. how well it did. I was thinking about doing my john boat that way
Hi Marty, I own two kayaks and a john boat myself. I mainly fish in the inter-coastal at Indian Rocks Beach, FL and your videos have inspired me to rig up my kayak for fishing. (Before, I didn't even know what an anchor trolley was.) I am a tinkerer by heart, so now that I have finished the kayaks I am ready to modify my john boat. Which leads me to my question for you. What electric trolling motor do you use on the Kon Tiki 2 ? It has been difficult for me to find a trolling motor that will stand up to the salt water. Also, how many batteries do you use, what type, and how long do they last on a charge. All help is appreciated, and as always, Tight Lines!
I use an Endura Minn Kota Trolling Motor 55. It's meant for freshwater but it's held up ok for me. The only battery I've ever used is the marine battery that is available at discount auto. It has worked for a couple days in a row when I forget to charge it after a single trip.
From a stability standpoint, how did you apply the styrofoam to the sides ,and what type/thickness did you go with? I've got a 10' and the tippiness is kind of concerning.
Hey I love your channel I watch all your video's! I also got some lures I want to send you for bass fishing. I live in Florida as well in Melbourne beach. I'm curious how much did you pick up your Jon boat up for and did include the trailer as well with the motor. In one of your videos you said you might sell your Jon boat due to getting the new hobie kayak.
I continue to enjoy your videos Marty; but, got a question. I too have a yak, 12 ft. 350lb capacity. Been thinking about adding out-riggers like your Tiki 1. But, your jon boat gave me an idea....you are using polystyrene (?) on the "outside" of the boat for stability. Do you think it can take the place of outriggers for improved stability?
Being so close to the boat, the eps foam doesn't make it rock solid stable, but it limits the roll of the boat when I step to the edge. Before installing it, I often felt like the edge would come scary close to the water. On a yak, I imagine it would add stability for sure. Just by making it wider alone. I'd try to keep it just above the waterline so it wouldn't slow you down as you paddle along.
Hey zoff, I know you might not see this comment for a long time, but I've been looking for a John boat for the past few months and was wondering what size that one is? It looks like a perfect size for a lil guy like me to own. You inspired me to buy a kayak and kayak fish and now it's time for me to step up to a boat!
Hey Mr Marty, I'd like to inform you that I recently purchased a 16 foot 1983 cobia with a 70 HP two stroke motor with a 75 lb trolling motor! You inspired me to buy a kayak and now thus beautiful boat! And I'd love to show you!
What did you use for a floor of your jon boat?I use plywood and it holds up nice but i wish i can find something other then a plywood or aluminum floor that would hold up permanently.
I worked for a company that installed architectural foam on houses. See if there is a local place that sells 'eps foam' and they'll cut you massive pieces of styrofoam if you want. The starboard I found online.
I've been adopting so many new things lately...new kayak, a fish finder, fishing for sharks, trying to find tarpon, etc. there has been little time to add fly fishing to the mix. The day will come, though.
Awesome I'm huge into fly fishing. Hoping I get to make it down there next summer to fly fish for reds. Keep up the great work on the vid and can't wait for a fly fishing episode when ever you get time to do another one.

Great video man, I have so much respect for you as a angler and as a individual. Keep up the good work, I always look forward to watching your videos.
Tight lines brother!
There is nothing quite as serene as a calm morning, with the entire bay or flat to yourself. It's therapeutic!
Marty, you are the definition of a truly great angler! I love your channel and love your videos!
such a great and peaceful fishing vid, just relaxing as well as the view is spectacular.
Thanks for the share .
Nice touch cracking the fresh Bud Light open man !!
Cheers!
I love the do-it-yourself fixes ... excellent video!
Hello, i was wondering if the added foam on the outside of the boat really helped stabilize. And also wondering if it started to deteriorate with the saltwayer
Amaury Viciedo I believe it did help with stability. But the improvement wasn't super great. They did hold up pretty good to the saltwater though.
Really enjoyed your video. Motivated met find a john boat.
Keep living it up and thank you so very much for sharing.
great channel. You seem like a good, gentle soul. Hope you can make it sometime to fish over here in the Jacksonville area...lots of backwater intracoastal fishing available.

You always come up with such cool mods on your boats Marty! Great vid, thanks for sharing!! W
you are definitely living life to the fullest!!!!!
Great video sir, my son is always late to the bus stop the mornings you release a new one. He thinks there amazing and so do I.
Haha. I'm gonna have to start uploading in the afternoons ;) Thank you guys for watching. Tell your son I said, 'Hi'
The motor sound matches the chord changes in the music perfectly at 0:09 and 0:12. Nice!
Very nice johnboat and thank you for the tips that you been putting on all your videos it's been very educational keep up the good work
Great video Marty,Jon boat is great too,it would be great for our lakes and dams here!!! Unfortunatelly,i`m way too far...! ;)
Love the videos! Can't wait to see you land a tarpon. A guy caught a juvenile at anclote gulf park pier 3 days ago on a green back. No fish for me yet. Tight Lines sir.
I saw some full grown ones (dolphin sized) roll within 20 feet of me last Sunday.
zoffinger I found your videos looking at concrete molds. That's what is mostly my business but caught on fast to watching ALL your videos! Good job buddy. My wife and I truly enjoy all of the them! Looks a lot like all the inlets around where I live in Florida. Is that the Pinellas County area? Without giving away any more secret info? Ha! Cheers
is there a video showing how the foam was installed onto the sides of the boat?
Apoxy

Expanding urethane foam sticks really, really well.
Keep doing what you are doing you are like my favorite UA-cam fisherman
Awesome man! Love your vids can't wait to get my little boys and myself a John boat!!
Great video, nice fish. Very cool mods to the Jon boat.
Regards
Mark
What song is at 4:13??? I'm really into that song and I wanna know so when I go fishing next i can jam out!!!
Awesome video now I have motorboat envy! I have such a hard time finding fish anywhere near a high tide. But any tide that is low is off the chain for me, the bay comes to life! Any pointers to help me around those high tides?
for being a 32 inch how stable is it with 2 people in it.
how was the foam attached to the outside of hull and how thick?
You are one cool dude Zoffinger. My dream boat is actually a small jon boat so my son and I can explore old Florida together. We would of course do a lot of fishing.
how did you get that foam attatched to the side of the boat
First off thanks for the cool videos I really enjoy all the diy stuff you do. I'm a kayak fisherman and thinking about adding a small jon boat to my collection. I would like to know how did you stick the foam to the outside of your boat
Expanding polyurethane foam. (Great Stuff)
Cool I was hoping it would be
Easy to find :-)
Thanks for the reply
nice what is the best way to cath mangrove snapper and what bait should i use
the boat seems very stable even with you standing and fishing, how wide was the bottom ?
Nice little setup brotha 🤙🏽
so adding foam to the sides made is less wobbly? I did this to my 12 foot jon and its a little wobbly.
Kayak is better for sure.
Same situation man. After watching his videos, I'd prefer a kayak over a deep sea charter boat. Kayak fishing seems to just have it all.
***** Dawg I'm 17. I'm not about to drop 490K on a boat lol
Well if price is no object, I'll take the fucking Titanic.
Haha I feel you man. Wherever you are, tight lines
Cool! Nice little boat and fish!
did you put in at bulfrog. I make it to apolo bch a few times a year
hey i was just curious what did u use to glue the pvc to the boat.
Make sure to flush the saltwater from the motor. Also you have inspired me to get a boat and modify it
Always enjoy your vids!
awesome, can't wait to get a john boat of my own and start working on it
I was curious where you purchased the foam? Is it insulation foam from Home Depot or is it some other sort?
How did you put kon tiki 2 on the side what did you do?
Welcome to the boat addiction! I had a Gregor for less than a year before I went larger, twice! Hey, you only live once!
Love that beer holder!
How did you install the foam on the side of the boat?
How did you cut the seats out and what kind of foam did you use if I may ask?
I love this vid just like the rest ive seen all ur videos so keep it up
Marty did u already sell it because I might be interested
what type of foam was used on the sides
Zoff, you're the man. I sold my kayak so I can get a 10ft vhull jon boat for me and my son. I wanted to know if the foam that you put on the side of the boat would help stabilize a vhull jon boat? Did you cut your seats or bunks in half and reinstall them? Notice they sit lower in the boat. Can you explain how you did the rivets etc.?
nevrmind. read thru the othr comments. got my answer. thanks man. great videos
Good video zoff! can you tell me the name of the song at 5:12 wish u the best! From an Ecuadorian fan!
may i ask what did you use to add foam on the side of the boat ?
Is the boat plastic, aluminum? How do you treat it for saltwater?
good job on the boat, have you ever thought about putting in a glass port on the bottom? also, you gotta paint something on it orange.:)
Cutting a hole in the bottom would be a brave modification, Robb. Even for me ;)
Well done Marty. You going to burn a measure into the starboard like you did on Kontiki?
I got a store bought solution for that. You'll see it in the next jon boat video where I catch a shark that is bigger than the measuring stick!
zoffinger Sweet! Looking forward to it buddy :D

I know it must be the camera but it looks like you are a long way from the trees but you cast to them. How far away are you normally?
When did you pick up a jonboat?
And is their go pro mounts with it
What spinning reel was that?
Loving the upgrades Marty. Nice morning of fishing there too. Is that particular spot a place you can't get the kayak to? Too far?
I have that exact outboard now! Is that boat 32 wide or 36?
+Panfish It was an L1232 if I remember correctly.
Thanks!
Man... thats a nice mod job! ; - ) Love the video.
Whats that little green leaf next to the Kon Tiki 2 stand for?
It's a bamboo leaf.
Right on
what is the name of the model of your jon boat? How much does it cost?
btw, great videos :)
Thanks, Tom
where did you buy the carpet for your john boat thinking about doing it with mine.
ben hawley Any home improvement store. Outdoor carpet. Should be about 45 cents a square foot
Hey I love your channel I watch all your video's! I also got some lures I want to send you for bass fishing. I live in Florida as well in Melbourne beach. Is that a pot leaf by the kon tiki name!!!
Great vid Marty wondering if u we're going to sell the boat how much would you sell it for?
$1800 for the boat, motor, trolling motor with battery, trailer, anchor, pfds extinguisher, horn, lights, clean title.
what is the name of the foam that you added outside the boat?
Styrofoam. 2lb per cubic foot (that is the density) I glued it on with expanding polyurethane (the spray foam you can get at Home Depot)
Thank you. I'm trying to get more stability for my 12ft. Alumacraft
How did you add the foam to the outside of your boat to stabilize it?
glue.
What kinda casting rod is that
good vid Marty. I'm wondering, in this vid how far are you from the tree line? It's hard to get a good perspective on it while watching you cast.
It was about as far as I could possibly fling the bait and bobber. Then I'd feed out line as it got pulled away by the current.
zoffinger OK, that's my kind of fishing, Its fun to watch someone else doing it. "KEEP CRANKIN".
The first one he caught and released.... what type of fish was that
Snook
What ever happened to kon tiki 2?
Excellent platform to fish!. Regards.
I think it was a Lowe 1232. That's 12 foot long and 32 inches wide.
Hey Mr Marty, I'd like to inform you that I recently purchased a 16 foot 1983 cobia with a 70 HP two stroke motor with a 75 lb trolling motor! You inspired me to buy a kayak and now thus beautiful boat! And I'd love to show you!
for some reason I thought you sold the john boat to get the new kayak?
She needed some lovin before I let her go.
I had a Mercury 7.5 and i sold it. Biggest regret of my boating life. Perfect little engine.
The Realist
A little 8hp yamaha 2 stroke is far superior, I've owned both.
new subscriber what is the size of your trolling motor
HuntFish TrapRide 55 pound thrust I think. I sold this boat, so I can't go outside and check
What did you use for a floor of your jon boat?I use plywood and it holds up nice but i wish i can find something other then a plywood or aluminum floor that would hold up permanently.
Marine grade plywood. It's nice, but, HEAVY!
Marty where did you get the large Styrofoam and starboard. I live in Holiday and love watching all your content. it's inspiringly.
I worked for a company that installed architectural foam on houses. See if there is a local place that sells 'eps foam' and they'll cut you massive pieces of styrofoam if you want. The starboard I found online.
Cool thank you Marty tight lines buddy
zoffinger
I live in tampa
where can i get the foam ?
what size motor is on that? I have a john boat but with no engine so Im thinking whats a good size
Fishing Marijuana It's a 7 1/2hp
How did you get the foam?
For the sides
Where did you buy this boat? I am looking for a small boat because I can't get a big boat. I'm 12
craigslist. buy a tender. or bass buggy. or basshunter. 2 man pond boats
I know your struggle
Nice! Was wondering, did you ever get back into fly fishing? Be awesome to see you catch some of those fish on a fly rod!
How about from land in fresh water. Bass would pounce on a fly I bet? And it would be an easier place for me to learn...waddaya think?
I think that's a great start. Or even in your Hobie in freshwater too!
zoffinger Bass and bluegill are my favorites to catch on a fly. They eat up the little poppers and plenty of action no matter what time of day.
Marty, did you not say that you got rid of your Jon boat in order to make up the difference to buy your Hobie kayak?
That was the plan, but under the cover, it had gotten moldy and gross. This is me getting her cleaned up and ready for a new owner.
ok got you ...you should keep it. its a nice little Jon.
Nice video! What song plays in the intro?
What camera do you use?
GoPro Hero3+ Silver
Where u fishing?
