Asus RT-AX92U AX6100 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Router is one of the cheapest Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Router systems on the market. Unlike most other Mesh Wifi routers, the AX6100 uses the new WiFi 6 protocol which allows the system t communicate between the two routers at much faster speeds and then rebroadcast the network to all your devices to deliver the fastest WiFi speeds possible.

Access points should be elevated above ground, optimally somewhere fairly central and not beside an impermeable object like a wall or something metal. EXACTLY ! Wired is always better for workflow. And you can get the full Gig-speed ! ( other wise just go for the 500 mbps service) as well as run a 2nd cheap router upstairs for the phone. Uploading YT videos over wifi on a laptop with a gig network interface? Not if you can help it ! The errors encountered with heavy streaming uploads slows down transfer speeds . So this just does not make practical sense . Also never put your WAP on the floor behind objects. Fast speeds mean high frequencies. High frequencies don't like obstructions

Jon Biloff ATT is great for 1GB except their required gate and crappy techs. The installer used a really old cheap Ethernet cable from the fiber to router. One of the actual purposes of WIFI 6 is to fix interference between multiple devices on a network. This video itself I feel just showcased the main way to utilize a Mesh network if someone doesn't want to run cables through your house.
Also for anyone reading this usually on each mesh node, you can hook up a switch to create extra LAN ports on the mesh node. This can help with LAN limitations (hardwiring in) on different mesh networks such as Google Wifi Mesh Network (I am talking about the original not the new Nest ones)
EDIT: The new Google WIFI mesh Nest nodes don't support WIFI 6.

There must be a way, just be creative. Afterwards plug in 1 access point in that same switch for your wireless devices and your done.

Great video and I agree it is a great router. Once you configure it correctly then it is blazing fast. I have individual Wi-Fi APs for 2.4ghz, 5ghz-1 and 5ghz-2 which maximizes the speed if you configure it correctly. That way my laptop with Wi-Fi 6 can hit my broadbands maximum connection through 5ghz-2. I also use the Wi-Fi back haul and have had no issues whatsoever. The reason why I separated the bands was because the smart feature will sometimes route to 2.4ghz when the signal for 5ghz-2 is still good enough for very fast speed. Many devices can connect to another one if needed, so you don't need the router smart function. Plus the dedicated 5ghz-2 connection is as fast as you can get but you still have the 5ghz-1 for other devices like consoles, etc. Some devices don't need 5ghz, like my cell phone which will connect at 866 on 2.4ghz, or iot devices as 2.4ghz is sometimes an absolute requirement. I have been using this router for years and it has not let me down.

      Hello! Network guy here
      Wifi 4 - 802.11n - 2.4Ghz(5Ghz) - Long range - 600Mbps (theoretical) 125Mbps actual
      Wifi 5 - 802.11ac - 5Ghz - Medium to short range - 1.3Ghz Wave One, 2.32Ghz Wave Two (theoretical) usually actual are around 50%
      Wifi 6 - 802.11ax - 1-7Ghz(2.4-5Ghz) - Super short range - 4 times faster than 802.11ac (theoretical) but actual 37% faster
What actually happned in his test is that the antenna on his topfloor has better antennas then his phone, this means that the 5Ghz connection reached the buttom floor. So basically he just increased the range of his 5Ghz band. As a networktechnician I can say that the problem with WiFi 6 is overall range. The higher the speeds the shorter radiowaves which means shorter distances and harder to penetrate walls. If you're someone who actually have 802.11ax compatible devices I would almost recommend two accesspoints for every single "normal sized" floor, but for this to work correctly you also need to have cables running to each AP. The good APs that support fast roaming between APs and wifi 6 today are super expensive (and you need many) this is the main reason Wifi6 still has a long way to go, its basically not ready and probably wont be for a few more years.
The absolute best solution for most homes today is to call an electrician to drag cables around your house (inside the walls, CAT6a or higher for futute proof), connect everything you can with cable and get 1 Unifi AP for each floor, create one SSID each for 2.4 and 5 Ghz to seperate them. Try to get 5Ghz everywhere and you're good for many years to come.
Don't buy these "Wifi 6" devices, since it's basicallt just a marketting scam. Unless you really want wifi 6 in your one room 200 Square feet apartment. Sure wifi6 has other benefits than speed, like more than one device can talk to the AP at the same time and it brings those features to 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands, but if you want pure speed, it’s not there. (If you’re not using 20 devices at the same time)
Cable still win, + you sleep better, literally
      Best regard
      Network Guy

No because what's actually happening here is a mesh being set up using a WiFi 6 backhaul & WiFi 5 802.11AC to the devices. That's actually damn fast so long as the backhaul link is good. The fastest backhaul link is Gig ethernet (wired) but Wifi6 mesh can be good under the right circumstances. The idea of mesh is you can change the location of routers to physically route a signal around the EMF absorbing reflecting barriers in your home. It's much better than just trying to pick up a signal from your regular WiFi 5 router a few floors away. Triband routers establish a dedicated backhaul channel (a small piece of the EMF spectrum) which doesn't interfere with 5Ghz AC transmissions of data to the surrounding end point devices. It's trying to create the effect of a wired backhaul channel using wireless. Point to point wireless backhaul has been used for years for business industrial applications (often via links on the roofs of buildings) , mesh is applying some of the same techniques but low power, using multi array antennae for home networking. The multi array design enables the wireless signal to be bounced off (some) walls & still be received intact & close to full speed. With many bounces or travelling through walls the signal is degraded. Placing more mesh routers along the way helps recover the signal, think of them as backhaul repeaters. Bear this in mind when you place your routers around the home. However, it looked like the antennae on the downstairs router in this demo were retracted which you shouldn't do, ugly as they are. Extended antennae improve the signal recovery. (I'm a retired telecoms engineer & I use mesh in my own home - my wife is fed up of cables too )

I have about 100 feet of it running (per line) from my basement to my office on the second floor and did it myself by running it through the cold air return, up into the attic and distributing it to the rooms on the second floor from there. I left plenty of extra cable just in case I want to move the router in the basement just in case. Fantastic review with real test speeds! I am sold on this.

That’s a pretty good jump in speed especially considering the office is in the attic. I’m getting about 289 down and 373 up over WiFi 5 with the same service and AT&T router and standing right next to the router. Not bad but the best either. Unfortunately my access point is in my living room behind my television. The good is that most of my streaming devices, small htpc, and gaming consoles are hooked via Ethernet and take advantage of the true speed but honestly I do most everything else over my phone and everyone else in the house also uses tablets, phones, and other devices that are WiFi only. So a jump like that covering the entire house would be great. Especially since WiFi 6 is suppose to help with over crowding over the network as newer devices come out that are capable of taking full advantage of it. My one question is this how was the new router hooked up? Are you doing a pass through or is the Asus in bridge mode?

My man puts a wifi6 5ghz router behind a couch, walks up two flights of stairs and goes "huh, that's not so fast, I am dissapoint"
As a network engineer, this hurts my feelings and angers me to the fullest extent.

Would love to see an updated video with a 3rd one added on your second floor

Hello: Thanks for the video. Couple questions. 1)How does it work? if you were getting slow speeds with only one of the routers, where did the second floor router got the rest of the bandwidth? 2) Isn't using Powerline adapters as effective and lower cost option? You get ethernet speeds at the computer and event wi-fi with some models at half the cost. Hey you could place outlets in several places in the house. Again thanks for the video.

If you have a coaxial port in your attic just use a MOCA set up. Blazing fast speeds.

Did he mention what plan is he in? Was he on 400/400 or 1gig plan? Every reviewer should always mention this.

Great video. If you can, Please explain what will happen when you connect one or more devices that only support Wi-Fi 5 (or .11N) to your Wi-Fi 6 router? I understand that particular Wi-Fi 5 connection will operate in Wi-Fi 5 mode, but really want to know how the Wi-Fi 5 devices impacts or slows the overall performance of the Wi-Fi 6 router as newer Wi-Fi 6 devices are introduced to the Wi-Fi 6 router. Specifically how will OFDMA, multi-user MIMO, Target wake time (TWT) and 1024-QAM work on a Wi-Fi 6 router with a mix of Wi-Fi 5 devices (or Older) and Wi-Fi 6 devices. Thanks
