In this very poorly conceived and not very well thought-out video I share with you the Thor's Lighting Bolt True Dual Air Compressor for 4x4 and off-roading. I explain why my new Thor's Lighting air system has now replaced my PowerTank CO2 tank as my primary source for airing-up my Jeep and I compare the Thors Lighting air compressor system to the Viair 440P, the ARB Twin-Canister onboard air compressor and I even compare the Thor's Lightning air-up speed to my Power Tank.
For clarification, in case anyone is wondering, Thor's Lighting Adventure Gear did not send me this air-compressor for free and they have no idea I made this video. I paid full price for my Thor's Lighting Air system and am not being compensated in any way for making this video, other than my Amazon affiliate links. I did not even plan on making a video about this compressor when i purchased it, but I am so impressed with it's speed and low cost, I wanted so share it with my adoring fans and haters.

Well .... at one point you were a channel that made pretty damm funny ham radio based videos!! Now it seem like yer just another for-sale UA-cam shiller, who would flog a dog turd if they paid you enough ....... way to loose a subscriber! What in the makes you think we wanna watch a 10 minute fucking commercial !?!?! ....... Jesus !!!
His funny ham radio videos were commercials dude. You just liked them because you have a Jesus shaped hole in your heart and listen buddy no amount of sad ham puns is going to fill that hole. Notarubecon is just a Zenu worshipping heathen. He can't make you feel again. Do you understand?
I hope you can be okay
Yikes, someone needs a nap.
"at one point" LOL
I enjoyed watching your commercial!
This is the best off-road product review ever uploaded to the internet.
I know.
😂😂
No matter what videos you put out I’m entertained, and that’s the only thing that matters. Keep up the good work.

I noticed the price went down as well.........excellent deal
I use a CO2 tank as a primary way to air up but I do keep a cheap Viair as a backup. I may pick this up as my new backup. As a side note I did meet my wife airing her tires up after an off-road adventure with friends. So scoff all you want at "impressing the ladies" but it is a thing.
I am glad you are back to 4X4 videos (if only one). It was those videos that got me into Notarubicon Productions, then to GMRS videos, then GMRS user (even if I have been in FRS for 30 years)
I don’t care what you talk about as long as you keep talking. Best dry humor channel on the interwebs.
All I can say is, I have been a subscriber to your channel for a long time now, but I never knew you did off-road videos too! Much to my surprise I love your off-road content as much as I do your radio videos! I have to say that this video had me in stiches 😂😂😂!!! You have a dry sense of humor that fricken hits my funny bone so fricken hard that I have to watch your postings twice just to make sure I catch all the pertinent info you are actually sharing that actually has value to your subscribers like me! The whole reason why I subscribed to your channel in the first place was because I found your channel most informed able when I was trying to educate myself in the radio realm of knowledge. At least now I understand why your channel has the Rubicon name associated with it. I'm 63 yrs old and I don't get much abundance of humor in my life especially these days but I wanted to thank you for being a great addition to the smiles and laughter I'm able to experience in my life especially during these shitty times we're going through lately. In my heart you absolutely rock and I'm proud to be a subscriber to your channel. The bonus for me is the fact that I'm a Jeep Wrangler owner and have been into off-roading for many years now and now that I know you have these previous videos based on 4wheeling I can now start to search out your older material for insite and hopefully more of the same awesome tongue and cheek and dry humor that keeps me coming back to your channel. I'm not sure how I can pull it off in the future but I hope I can get the opportunity to meet you in person in person in the future some day, as I now have placed you on my bucket list of things I want to accomplish in my life time. YOU ROCK RUBICON!!!
“Tenth Guy is a Moron” Statistics via a Fisher-Pryce calculator is 120% accurate. It matters not what your videos are about, it only matters that they are frequent. Godspeed.
Oh man, those Victoria Secret unmentionables had me dry heaving. I love your props - always something that takes me off guard. Bravo sir!
Thor's Lightning Bolt True Dual Air Compressor Truly Blows real good!! Nice Unit! But how do I attach the wrist strap?
Im all for 4x4 videos. I seen your jeep videos way back when. Was crazy seeing you doing uv5r reviews and talks when i bought one to know i used to watch your jeep stuff. Im all for more jeep vids.
As a HAM for 56 years my uncle taught me everything I know about blowing.
I noticed you Team of Spotters were using Boof Wang UV 5 R Radios. Something for the Sad Hams to complain sbout. Excellent!
I bought the Thor compressor and 4 tire inflator/deflator and it works a treat! Fast air down and air up!
I always appreciated your off-road videos.. Not sure what folks were complaing about. Was happy to see a new video about something other than HAM/GMRS.. Although those vids are informative, it was getting a tad long in the tooth with so many.. Glad you did this review.. I've had a 15 lb Power Tank for 10 years now and I've never run out of gas over the years.. I've had to hydro the tank twice now and that isn't any great imposition nor cost in the grand scheme of things. The tire fills are so bloody fast with the thing that I frequently help out others in a group setting just to get the hell back on the road before dying of the creeping paralysis! I keep a Viair 400 on the rig as a backup. Thanks for the video.. It was nice to see something other than radio vids. Take care.
Due to Me being your favorite viewer, and actually in the market, I need options for air compressor that bolt into the engine bay. With out being ripped off. Thanks, your Favorite Overlander Viewer.
I watched this whole thing without even crying.
You sir, are truly a Super Star!
As a Toyota guy, i felt that. See you on the next video
I would never buy a jeep. Only toyota for me.
Re-dork-ulous!! Dang.... I always learn something new and cool and trendy on this channel.
I was a volunteer fireman 30 years, and years ago, we were getting rid of some old aluminum air tanks. I got 2 and had them tested and would get them filled at a neighbor department to 4500 psi and regulater with a hose. It will fill several 33" tires.
Compressed air is decent for smaller tires, but you can squeeze in wayy more CO2 into a tank which is why it's the gas of choice for manly off-roaders like me.
Very nice! I have just the single cylinder ARB on my truck, mounted under the hood. I have 35's, but don't air down much at all. Mostly just for airing up and filling air bags for when I have my slide in truck camper on the back. If I used it more, this would definitely be on my list to get. Not a bad price as well. Thanks for showing this compressor off.
Nice to see some off-road content again. I've been watching since long before the GMRS days and your videos were great. Not sure why they didn't get as much traction as they deserved. I also have that compressor although I have the Napa version. It's awesome.
For about 1 year our In4LO videos were exclusive to Amazon Prime Video and we got MILLIONS of views there every month.. Our contract eventually changed and we were permitted to put the videos on UA-cam, but nobody was interested/UA-cam did not suggest them. It seems that youtube viewers aren't interested in quality or anything that requires an attention span..
@@TheNotaRubicon Wow, I didn't realized it was on Amazon. That's a big achievement. Unfortunately, attention spans are low. I think I've seen some of that series. I'll have to go back and watch them all.
I like it. The faster the better. Especially when you're trying to fill your tires in a blizzard!
It was very gracious of your wife to give you an advance on your allowance. Great video🇺🇸
Last year I binge watched all those offroad videos, and I am not an offroader. I enjoyed them!
Where I live, the "streets" should qualify as off roading. My brother in law just had to replace the shocks on in his 4 year old van, because of our roads.
Same up here, I'm at least 3+ miles from the nearest paved road. We don't even wave at "Pavement People"!
I’ve been telling folks for years the Napa MaxiTrac twin is the best under $125. It’s the same one other companies modify, paint and resell.
Sadly trying to find them is almost impossible and when you do it is double the original price. I keep checking my local NAPAs to get one, and it now looks like it has been branded as NAPA Horizontal Electric Air Compressor- Balkamp BK MTWM10215C.
@@chrismadden1660 Just checked my NAPA $155.00 Available for pickup tomorrow.
Will have to give this a try when my current compressor craps out, thanks for the recommendation 👍
Just found you even though you weren’t lost. Great channel. Cheers from Australia.
I'm curious if you fed Mrs. NotaRubicon Taco Bell while she was wearing them pink Victoria's Secrets chon chon. Because that sight would make any GMRS and ham operator cringe at the 9:00 minute mark.
i so wanted to be the 1st to point that out. but due to me not being allowed on the net that much i am not 1st. How funny
Crazy concept....
Do radios AND offroad videos.
We all know you are very well versed in both, and can teach people a lot of informations about both worlds.
Yes, I said informations on purpose.
We have the version of this pump with a built in pressure gauge. We absolutely love it. The wife and I would like to get a chance to join you and your group on a trail run. We are up in the high desert. Hope to see you on the trail sometime. Thank you for your awesome content.
I was looking between Morrflate, EZ Flate, and this Thor system. I appreciate the video on this system.
C'mon Randy. Jeep's, 37's, and good looking chicks in the video's, you gotta start making more off road videos!! Off road videos seem to be heating up here on the Yooos Toobs here lately. I'll sure watch them!! Great video once again!!
I’d like to see more off road videos!! Have you been back to the Salton Sea? Now THAT was an interesting series. Thanks.
I went from a Milwaukee M18 inflator to an ARB twin mounted under the right front seat on my 16 JKU rubicon hard rock.
I considered the Thor/other same ones but takes up too much space.
So happy with my ARB twin and Morrflate 4 tire inflation kit.
There are several companies that sell the same style. I assume it's actually the same compressor. EZFLATE, MORRFlate, THOR ... But these are amazing for the price. I've used my EZFLATE for a couple of years. No issues. 4 tire inflate system. Air a set of 37s up and down in minutes.
Beautiful scenery. Can't wait for spring so i can get my jeep out.
Thanks for another great installment. I have run a 400P for a few years. Very satisfied with its performance, but my 4Runner's modest 34s require less squirt to air up. I saved the Thor's Lightning in my Amazon list to replace the Viair when it gives up the ghost. Can't wait for the mass of fans to gather when they celebrate compressor's two-piston performance.
It's nice that they list a duty cycle. Most small air compressors don't even give you that.
Well....I like it I do abit of off roading. And the compressor would be a great addition to the jeep and around the shop too. Thanks so much...
“Just… sit. Back. Down…”. 😂😂😂
At the end of the day at the off rd parks I go to I would watch most people struggle trying to fill up there tires with those small compressors. I bought several over the years. I went and bought a 2000 watt inverter and a 5 gallon AC air compressor. Simple installation. Now I spend just minutes filling my tires. Have fun.
I had a car with a slow leak (i'm no expert but I think it was a bad seal) so I got a tiny compressor. I got a different car that has even smaller tires (I swear they are practically motorcycle tires on a car) I don't have as much trouble with this one. (it has the annoying tire senors) I also have a rechargeable jump starter that I live by it get pretty cold here in the Midwest (-40 degrees). I bring the jumper on trips. I like all the things Randy talks about, If I find a handy tool you bet I'll tell everyone!
Excellent as usual!!!
Thanks for this! (I didn’t realize how much I missed hearing “Chyna”!)
when you say that I am your favorite viewer, I get very fuzzy platonic feelings about you! what a great source of information about radio in general for this closet HAM that has no respect for the FCC .
I’d rather watch your off road videos rather than anything produced by the White House.
Or DC in general...
Or tRump.
Ol jose is off planet😮
and that also stinks bad.
@@eminence_front6043 or FJB
Victoria's Secret and Motorola in the back of the Jeep. 10:51 Clearly you are a man of wealth and taste. (sure hope that's mud from off-roading in the puddles)
I enjoyed the off-road films, as someone who lives in sleepy old England, it's good to see parts of the USA I would probably never normally see.
Thanks for the review. I needed a new compressor for the upcoming Tierra Del Sol event. This thing is a beast, like me, and should handle my big manly tires.
That’s pretty cool Randy I’m going to buy one
Great video. I've been on the fence about the NAPA version of this (made of pure unobtanium), vs an ARB Dual+Kraken system (and provision for an air locker later on). I'm using the VIAIR 300-series at the moment (it's glacially slow), but I'd prefer a mounted onboard solution rather than a portable. I'm surprised to hear you had problems with your ARB dual. Anyhow, please more Jeeping videos (or bouncing 'Yotas with busted U-joints). That was gold right there mate.
Nice to see some 4x4ing on ur channel.
Not on offroader but appreciate the hard work on this video. Great job!
❤but we watched the how to wash your Jeep!
(And you walking around the Salton Sea!)
Keep it up!
Looks like the one NAPA carries. Total beast of a 12v compressor.
I bought one for off road use. Good reviews. Good air volume. Reasonable price.
Looking forward to using it this season!
Good luck actually finding one at NAPA, although maybe it's easier now.
@@W2IRT I had to look online to see what stores had it in stock.
Thank you for throwing us off-roaders a bone ❤
The most entertaining air compressor video in existence.
Ive been looking at these brands and this fits in ..............thanks!!!
Nice video. You get a mini rubber ducky 🐤👍
Learned something new today--as a motorcyclist (some off- but mostly on-road riding) and no '4-lo' experience, I learned why the manly tires on these manly vehicles have treads on the sidewall.
I wonder if this would fit under the hood on the driver's side of a Jeep TJ.
Looks pretty sweet!
Nice review. I have the VIAIR 400P 2.3 CFM, not very impressive on 35s. I for one like your off-road stuff just as much as the GMRS videos. Thanks for the review. P.S. If you really want to impress the chicks show up with a 96 Ford Bronco.
The picture over your right shoulder is funny. 😂😂
yes, Randy IS the master of the subliminal message 👍😉✅
I’ve got a question, but I’ll see is Not-Ai-Rubicon can answer it first:
Is the “Thor’s Lightning Bolt True Dual Air Compressor” CHiRP compatible? I’m trying to add all of my local repeaters, and I’m not sure what software I need to program it.
- - -
Ladies and gentlemen, let me break it to you straight. The "Thor’s Lightning Bolt True Dual Air Compressor" - now, that's a mouthful - is about as compatible with CHIRP as a fish with a bicycle. CHIRP is for programming radios, not air compressors. I mean, I'm not sure what you're trying to do there - maybe turn your air compressor into a GMRS repeater? That would be a sight to see, but it's as likely as the FCCs giving me a free pass on my shenanigans.
For programming your local repeaters into a radio, you'll need to use CHIRP or the manufacturer's software for that specific radio model. Make sure it's a radio, not an air compressor, unless you're trying to start a new trend in the radio world.
So what I am really saying is, you might want to double-check what device you're dealing with before diving into the wild world of programming. And if you're really trying to program an air compressor... well, I'll be the first to subscribe to your UA-cam channel to see how that turns out.
..... 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸... ⬇️ 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄....
And I thought that I had badass equipment back when I used a spark plug tire inflator from J.C. Whitney.
That CFM is awesome, however these only offer 50% duty cycle. Shouldn't be an issue with high CFM, but still good to know.
Dude!!! You are a riot!
Not hitting the stuff you hit, just an "overlander" with a sweet Dobinsons suspension on my 4runner that I like to put to the test any time I can.
Currently running a Milwaukee battery compressor with the tank, not too shabby since it's lightweight and pretty quick, but it was way more $ than this.
I'm gonna grab one of these, thanks for the vid, and thanks for incorporating your hand modeling skills within.
Love the videos Randy. Keep it up!
Always well done!
What is the max PSI of the compressor?
I’m wondering if you could use the C02 tank as a reservoir for the compressor. That is, instead of refilling it to some relatively high pressure with CO2, instead pre-fill it before your adventure from your compressor up to whatever maximum it can achieve. Then when it is time to air up your tires have the compressor feeding into the tank, and an output from the tank for the tires. That way you should be able to air up your tires somewhat faster than with just the compressor alone, and avoid the cost of refilling with CO2.
Is asking about PSI and CFM the equivalent of asking about fars of GMRS radios?
FYI - “duty cycle” refers to how long it can be running over some time period. A 100% duty cycle would mean it could run continuously. A 50% duty cycle means it should be off and allowed to cool down a length of time equal to how long it was running. The time period for the duty cycle should be in the manual somewhere. At a 50% duty cycle obviously they don’t want you to run it for 10 seconds then shut it off for 10 seconds. As you have seen, several minutes of continuous running is fine - enough to do all 4 tires. However long that takes, I’d let is cool down an equal amount of time before airing up your buddy’s tires.
Fun stuff, and I’ve got one final thought for you guys - lockers! ;-)
Thank for this video. I have been actually looking in buy a compressor for my trail trailer. We crisscross the US regularly and need a unit that is compact and light weight for both truck and trailer.
Combine it with MoRRflate’s Quad inflation hose kit and you can air up all 4 285’s in about a minute and a half.
Man, this is the very first of your videos I have seen. I must say thank you for the information on the Thor Sledgehammer tire pumper upper. But an even bigger thanks for the laughs!! 😂😂😂 I'm new to the 4x4 world and I hope my wife will let me impress the chicks as you have!! Even though I'll be driving a Toyota😂
What a disappointment...you didn't tell us how many fars it would go. 🙂
As always, I love and look forward to all your videos.
Unexpected yet appreciated presentation.
Hilarious Stuff. "CH-EYE-NUH"
Can't click on these videos fast enough.
I am quite pleased to have heard about the ARB's confuckulated state of being before I paid the exorbitant cost assholciated with anything having the letters ARB on it.
It's all pretty impressive. But the question I think we all have is, how many fars does it have?
I have the Napa version love the videos keep it up.
Always like blowing up stuff, including tyres 👍
Those were great off-road videos!
Great video. I've been looking for a good AC, and with 10CFM, I bet you could even run an air tool if needed. I sure wouldn't mind if you did more reviews like this every once in a while. Thanks, and keep up the great work.
I forgot to ask, have you done any videos on what db gain means and explain that whole thing? I was looking and didn't see any, but I may have pulled a Ray Charles too, and just didn't see it. Thanks.
Sold. Thank you for the recommendation
The name isn’t just awful, it’s interchangeable. The compressor is being marketed under several different names. Tireflate isn’t as offensive, but the compressor is just as good. Love mine. Hell we even financed our compressor the same way.
This is merely an observation, but that compressor looks amazingly similar to the NAPA compressor that i bought recently for only 159 american monies, and has identical characteristics. So I was smarter than you! har har har! Great videos! I truly enjoy your sarcasm and confukery.
I think that compressor can do all four tires at one time. What do you think of the air hoses that allow you to air up an air down all at the same time?
O Lord Randolpho The Magnificent! I bow in your general direction. Where WERE you last month when my 7-yr-old Viair 400P (which I use on my tiny 34 X 10.5 X 17 tires) went kaputt? I do like the sound of 10.whatever CFM. Makes my hips sweat.
Damn! You did Hells Gate!
I gotta meet this guy! Let me know if you ever come to the Peoples Republic of Colorado, we have some great trails here.
Thank you for the review.👍
I love your tv in the background
Love you man! Honest, straight up and nonconfuckulated! I appreciate you!
Why not just get an AC powered air compressor for home that you can use to pressurize a portable air tank? Would a five-gallon tank at 100psi be enough to fill four tires? Also, what about using nitrogen instead of C02? I believe nitrogen is cheaper.
Nitrogen is more expensive and does not behave the same way under pressure as Co2, nor does anyone market a safe, portable tank system for nitrogen for refilling tires making Co2 better for this application. ..and a 5-gallon tank of air would not be nearly enough for all 4 tires nor would it fit very well in most vehicles.
It is just more practical to carry a small portable compressor or a compressed C02 tank.
More off roading content please Randy? I’m trying to make my way through the seasons of your off road videos, but they are missing your famous wit, captivating voice, trolling of “some people,” and custom roger beeps. If you make more off road content, it will be watched.
You should start doing cb radio reviews! President has come out with some really nice radios and the last few years!!
