Thanks, very useful on what to put in the blanks. I had to stop a lot and look up the meaning of the jargon, but thanks for showing what goes where. Hmm, I got no HOSTS or OS, so my screen does not match the video presenter's screen. Why not just use free Advanced IP Scanner? Oh, COMPARE, a nice feature. Thanks for identifying that as a unique benefit of NMap/ZenMap. Thanks.

How do I know if I'm on the same subnet? I assume it's right (255) default and can be ranged on the router but how can I check?

Can I use it to find the IPs of my switches?

The fact that your changing the ip makes it very difficult to follow and understand for someone whos not really familiar with the subject. Thanks anyways

Unfortunately this is advanced stuff, and you should already have a solid base in networking before diving into nmap. Zenmap makes it 'user friendly' but the reality is it's still just nmap with a couple buttons. IP addressing is CRITICAL to understand as a network engineer. You should understand IPv4 before using nmap.

Did you try clicking on the "Host Details" tab next to the "Topology" tab?
