Here is the thing. When it comes to folding devices like the Z fold, there are 2 schools of thought. You have tablet first which the Z line has been from the start, or phone first which is where everyone else is. It is literally an extension of a galaxy tab. When you look at the design and the software decisions its really clear.
I'm buying. I've been waiting since the fold originally came out and its time to pull the trigger. The great trade in value, the reserve credit, and the Rakuten cash back brings it to 645 +tax out of pocket.
So I ended up canceling my pre order to try and do it through Rakuten. I signed up, downloaded the app and the made another pre order. Is that all I needed to do?
I don’t get it. This phone has a 50 megapixel camera and better rendering?!? What more do you need? It has a faster processor, faster memory, more battery life, brighter screen, no gap, the crease is a non issue, and you can fully charge it in 72 minutes. This is a really good phone. I have had iPhones for the last 10 years and I’m switching to Samsung Fold. I played with it in the store and it blows the iPhone out of the water. Forgot to mention the smaller s pen which doesn’t need to be built into the phone IMO. I wouldn’t use it much anyway. I also like the slimmer screen when closed… I don’t want it too wide.
I really wanted to be able to use the spen on the main screen. Some apps are not quite optimized for the the larger tab screen and with a case it's sometimes hard to get a precise touch with things along the edges of the phone. So since I'm not getting that this year (maybe I never will?) And the cameras are not that great regardless, I think I'm just gonna keep using my Z Fold 3 and maybe invest in the Tab S9 Ultra. I like my TabS 7+ but someone in my family needs to upgrade their tablet (Tab S4) and I think the money is better spent there. ^-^

But I hear ya. The thing is, I enjoy the ecosystem that Samsung provides and particularly rely on Samsung Notes. Aside from that, for me, it isn't about the cost but what the Samsung's fold series provides me. And right now, I'm good. ^-^
It's a beast, if it's your first foldable or you upgrade from a Fold 1-3. If you already have a Fold4, it's not enough of an upgrade.
👆 Facts, although it might not even be worth the upgrade from a 3 either. I'll know for sure once my preorder comes in and I've had time to really test it out.
@@TechisodeTVcurrently using fold 3 and I don't think it's worth $1k+ to have those IMO small upgrades from the fold 3 to fold 5. I'll wait for the fold 6.
What cover are you using on your S23 ultra? I see it has a Maglock ring on it.

Nobody reviews about the SIM card slots and esim option. Does US version of phone has two nano sim and esim feature? or only one nano sim?
I hope that 4 recent apps comes to one ui 6 so I can use it on my fold4.
Was going to trade in my zfold 4 for the fold 5 but was disappointed at how many times I opened the phone, heard crackling and then the dreaded dead pixels or black pixeless line in the middle of the large display. Traded for an S23 Ultra and love it. Camera is amazing and like my old note I missed not having to carry my s pen separately. I did however trade in my watch 5 pro for the 6 classic pre order. Need that bezel and have enough chargers around, including power share on my 23 ultra, so it's a non issue. Might get another fold if there's a dramatic change other than the hinge design. Love the videos bro

Totally agree with your comment on the camera. There are only two things that prevented me from considering the Z-Fold line .. 1) Camera. The S23 Ultra camera is just light years ahead of the fold. 2) The interior plastic screen. Samsung can call it glass all it wants, but it's plastic, and it scratches, and the moving hinge is something that will reduce its longevity.
I might be willing to try to see how it works with #2, but I won't even consider it if a cheaper phone (S23 Ultra) has a far better camera. I use the camera far too much to consider anything less.
Please cover the Tab S9 series. It saw a sloth of meaningful improvements and was truly the only worthy devices at Unpacked for me. The Tab S9 Ultra is a beast in every way 👌
If you don't already have a Tab s8 Ultra, then definitely. I love my s8 Ultra and use it frequently. I ordered the s9 Ultra to compare, but I haven't looked enough into it yet to know if it's worth the upgrade from the s8 Ultra for non-tech reviewers.
Question i have a fold 3is it worth upgrading to the 5
I can't say for sure yet without having the 5 in hand, but the camera quality will basically be the same, the crease will also be about the same and if the Fold 3 doesn't feel slow to you, you probably won't notice much of a difference upgrading. The biggest difference would be the shorter/wider outer screen and the dramatically brighter inner screen when in direct sunlight. And probably a decent improvement in battery life. I'll be able to give a more firm recommendation once I've had a chance to use it for a bit :) I hope that was at least a little helpful :)
At 1800 I agree at that point whats another 200 and they could make a no camera version to bring down cost. Honestly I don't take pics or videos so I'd rather it have a flat back. Also don't want big brother having a spycam on me at all times. Just a thought. I bet the camera less ver would be a hit. It can still have the front facing and inner display cameras. And one can be called pro ver and the other executive ver.
If i could get a foldable that had an outer screen that was as good as using a slab id be tempted then id have the best of both worlds instead of two devices. I would only use the big screen in the evenings.

I have S22 ultra and I'm thinking about getting a fold 5. However the price is just ridiculous for a soft screen phone with a crappy camera.
Maybe it's time to ditch the phone and just use a tablet with LTE instead. 😜
Great features but still not enough to upgrade from S20 Ultra! Will wait one more year for the Fold 6.
Like you, I will be staying with the Ultra until the cameras end up on the Fold/Flip.
I'll stick with the fold 4, there's not enough changes on the fold "5, other than the hinge an the processor, I'll wait and see what the fold 6 is like ✌️in.

just sad about S23 this yr due to minimal changes feels like They start becoming Apple they just upgrading the chips and a little bit of the cam and battery

Nope, especially considering trade-in for Z Fold 4 is only $750! So, you lose half of what you paid not quite 1 year ago. $750 for almost 1 year makes Z Fold a not-smart phone.
I got $1,000 trade in for the Fold 4 (In the USA, seems Samsung isn't as kind to other countries.). That plus a solid discount for the Watch 6 Classic was enough for me to upgrade even with the minor changes.
@cleetose Was that $1000 deal with a carrier? I went to Samsung site(US) and could only find $750 for ZF4. That's too large a loss for not even 1 year old. Differences not enough to warrant switch, either. ^^
@@sheridanbucket I just did the preorder through Samsung's website the day of the announcement. Just checked now and it still shows me $1,000. They are even giving $800 for a cracked screen.
@cleetose yes, I see it is up to $1000 now. Still losing too much from last year. They would want last year's price plus another $799. Too much for too little difference for me.
Who in their right mind would be willing to pay more for cameras? You're already spending $1800 it's about time we got what we're paying for and by this I mean TOP specs not the trash they are trying to sell us year after year on these fold phones. I have had the fold 2, 3 and currently own the 4. I will not be buying another Samsung fold until they actually make it better and TOP tier specs. If google comes out with another foldable i might go to them since they actually listen to their customers more then samsung does

Yeah, I'm just gonna keep talking about it, and hopefully all the big tech guys talk about it enough too that Samsung makes the change 🤞 If the Fold had the s Ultra series cameras, a built in stylus, and they could manage to remove the crease, I'd never use another phone again lol.
There just should have been more improvements this time around. I'm sure Samsung themselves were aware of it too. The chip and hinge updates are not enough, that's only the usual year on year updates. Fold 5 kind of disappointed me 😔

For that kind of money, you should get the top of the line S23 Ultra 200 megapixel camera or better. Even my $450 Galaxy A54 has a 50 megapixel camera! Still no charger or S pen?! Lame man. Samsung needs to do a lot better. I don't want it.
Its physically impossible to get rid of the crease because it has to fold. Theyre using thin glass under the plastic so it folds. People are stupid asking for the impossible.

@ML-jk3sz I have been wanting a foldable for the larger tablet-like screen experience especially when I travel. My hands are struggling these days to navigate the larger tablet I have and I want to downsize to less products without losing function. I am a picture happy person so it would take something special though to give up my cameras on the S23 Ultra. They are fantastic. So there you have my rationale.
