I always love your videos, brother man. No tryhard must win strats, no meta this meta that, just straight fun. Just the kind of commander I want to play and make videos about.
I found this channel by just getting a random redirect from something completely unrelated, but dang I can't dislike this channel just on raw vibes alone. Smart, format health focused commentary, and with the raw charisma of a young Macho Man Randy Savage. Hell yeah, brother. The suggestions were great, and really goes to show just how dominant the Dockside was because yeah you can clearly see these are downgrades, but they're at least paying more now, to get cumulative value later. Rather than just getting a boatload of value instantly and ramping into the lead way past anyone else.
I try (tho I fail at times) to avoid duplicates of cards between decks, partially for cost reasons but also because of the joy of finding obscure cards that fill specific purposes in decks that I build.
I play Treasure Nabber in a Balrog deck that looks to sacrifice artifacts to cheat his cost. It’s so fun blowing up a Sol Ring with extra steps for extra benefits.
Relic of legends and heraldic banner are some of my favorite 3 mana rocks. Relic is crazy for value commanders and enables legends tribal decks. That one is a super sleeper
So many fun and good cards here for the casual format. There's some surprisingly great and underutilized cards here. Honestly, The Scepter of Eternal glory could be solid in a 2 color deck that utilizes a lot of basics. It allows you to add 3 mana of one color, it doesn't have to be the color that the same named land makes. So if you're not drawing a balance of mana, 4 islands and zero swamps, well now you have your black mana. I pretty much use all of these somewhere.
Wanna suggest The Irencrag from Throne of Eldraine. You heard of the Sword in the Stone what about the Glock in the Rock brother. 2 Mana rock that enters untapped and when you don’t need that mana you can turn it into a cool equipment when you play a legendary hell yeah
Treasonous Ogre might be worth a look. By itself it makes for one heck of a ritual. Throw in some lifegain (even incidental stuff such as Basilisk Collar and Shadowspear) and it's a gift that keeps on giving.^^
Hell yeah brother way to support the pack! We're all out here giggling over bans and high priced cards because we consume their bodies and press CtrlP. Thanks for another banger.
I have an atraxa grand unifier deck built around a core of +1 counters synergy and never felt the need to proxy in a crypt or JLO.In fact, I find ramping too hard is bad for that deck because the commander is so scary that if I summon her without a way to protect her, I’m in more trouble than if I just played control for a turn or two before being her out as more of a finisher.
You can definitely get to the higher cmc commanders however..... you have to allocate more cards to ramp where up to three slots slots no your deck used to be low and no cmc dockside, mana crypt and JL. Now you have to occupy more slots on your curve with mana rocks, dorks and other ramp. It detracts from space in your deck that could have done other things. And you can't just pull those three out and drop in thran dynamo and Gilded Lotuses like it's not going to effect the mana curve. It changes entire lists as you move up to higher power. I'm sure your decks have been fine without mc, dockside and JL. I'm also sure you'd struggle in high power or cedh. I also bet you'd refute that statement and neither of us would ever know based on our perception of high power. What I will say is some of the ramp suggestions you offered up are not feasible in my more powerful circles. I will say that up until just months before the ban I ran Sharuum the Hegemon as a high power combo commander and without JL and MC in 2024, she can never come back. No way. Too slow for strong pods. I'd say 6-7 power level will be fine. But maybe 8 and definitely 9-10, you're gonna start seeing the same c Low cost commanders more often. And rog si is gonna run cedh.
I run in moderate metas mostly, we are all long time players who self-correct to be competitive without being overpowered. The CEDH community is fantastic, I appreciate them very much. I listen to CEDH content, but it's a different mindset. That said, I am confident that they will figure out the next best way
Well, I've definitely seen Culling The Weak, Culling Ritual, and Bubbling Muck in cedh lists, though most of these cards probably weren't suggested with cedh in mind.
You always have to run a lot of ramp. Losing these two or three pieces aren't gonna be the big loss for a majority of decks out there, honestly, and most EDH pods likely didn't run them to begin with just due to prohibitive costs. Outside of cEDH, I genuinely don't see this impacting the majority of players. I think I personally know only a single person who even owned one of these cards, and he left it out of his decks anyway (Crypt).
I was planning on using Jeweled Lotus in the Sheoldred the Apocalypse deck I’m building but whatever I still have multiple options to cast her turn one or two. Wasn’t even planning on using Mana Crypt. Jeweled Lotus isn’t critical to the deck in any way… Just hope they don’t ban Sheoldred 😂🤷🏻♂️ card is pretty mean. Too bad there’s not a black Armageddon 🤣
I'm just going to run the banned cards anyway because I don't play for money and I use proxies and enjoy playing with and against decks doing the nasty. I like having to make actual choices and interact with opponents in my games starting turn 1, not watching everyone play their land, their mana rock, and then actually beginning the game on turn 3.
Also, always appreciate your content and don't mind when you use any political references. You're just having fun and calling it like you see it and if someone can't handle you poking at their political idols, they're just oversensitive. Your blend of references as ways to describe the cards is just hilarious and can't be sacrificed for the weak. They weak must be culled...From your subscriber list...Not from life. Just want to be clear lol
there really isn't a good replacement for dockside in a Vihaan deck(the only deck i run it in) that isn't already being run. I love treasure nabber, run it in way more decks but its just not the same.
Closest thing I can think of is Cavern-Hoard Dragon. He'll at least come down for dirt cheap and likely go mana positive after swinging but.... he's not gonna be putting up Dockside numbers. Hellkite Tyrant could be worth an include. Yoink someone's artifacts (and/or force them to use said artifacts in the case of treasures/etc) on combat damage and has an alt wincon built in. On an unrelated note they go great in Miirym as you would get to keep the original and the copy (both are non-legendary). I assume you're already running Pitiless Plunderer and Warren Soultrader?
@zackkelley2940 all of those except hellkite are in the deck already(only have 1 hellkite is in my myriim deck lol) I guess I could toss in cyberman patrol(squadron already in) as another way to force damage. This is the deck I bring out whenever one of my friends mutters "I wanna play my eldrazi" or stupid ur-dragon decks, not for casual pick up games at the lgs.
@@josephschulte1073 It occurs to me. I would RELISH playing against an eldrazi deck that was ACTUALLY an eldrazi deck.^^ As opposed to the Titans and the handful of other really oppressive eldrazi this is usually in reference to. If I made a deck running only 6 elves... could I REALLY call it an elf deck?
