Honestly I love Luigi's Mansion 2 King Boo for being such a dark and silent force lurking in the shadow, this King Boo was actually pretty scary for Mario's standards and I loved that. Dark Moon actually managed to be pretty spooky in it's own way compare to the first one with some tense musics and background noises when the third game did not even tried to be scary at all
I kinda want a mix of both honestly. Keep the huge amount of multi themed areas from Luigi’s Mansion 3, kinda like how they did for Luigi’s Mansion 2 wherein you could travel to different mansions, but keep that scare factor from Luigi’s Mansion 1. Like, what is one of the mansions was an old, massive greenhouse and the boss could be some mutated ghost piranha plant? Or even a giant abandoned carnival filled with ghost, and you could get lost in the rides as you try to progress through the darkly lit circus?
The absence of music in the first game also gives you a feeling of comfort, since the music doesn't play in the rooms you've cleared. The silence becomes less unsettling and begins to feel _safe._
The best part of Luigi’s mansion 1 is the art style I hope if they remake the game they use puppets made by Jim Henson studios like how the game felt like
For everyone or only for certain characters? Because while that sounds like an interesting idea, Luigi wouldn't be expressive anymore if he was one too.

I'm old as dirt and back in ye olden days, hotels had special gamecubes that would let you pay $X for X minutes of game time like a demo. As a kid, I played about 10 minutes of Luigi's mansion and was terrified at the first encounter where the portraits mock you and ask if you're scared before saying "here they come". Never got past that screen. And wasted all my moms money trying to build up the courage to get past it

The possibilities can be endless for this spinoff. Furthermore, any of these scary mosters could be vacuumed. I learned that from the arcade game, "Tumble Pop". Anyone else heard of that one?

I can imagine Luigi's Mansion 4 being in a haunted theme park. There will be some big open outside areas with exploration, but also inside buildings that are dark and have specific themes. Like a hall of mirrors, clown tent, and roller coaster rides battling ghosts. I would think that's the most likely setting they'll go with.
i imagine Luigi's manshion 4 being in bowser castle that is now abandoned and obviously haunted aftter his previous owner untimely demise demise (it has been stated that bowser got defeated for good in luigi's manshion 1) and the final boss could be bowser in a whole new undead forme
I agree. I don't think it needs to be exactly like the first game though. I do believe that the next game should lean between 1 and 3. As you said, some areas in 3 were way too light and it doesn't make sense in a haunted hotel. I also found some boss ghost designs to be incredible, Serpci, the three magician sisters, Helen Gravely, for example, some were real miss, like the cave man or the mall guard. 1 is scarier and has the right tone, but lacks in variety, and strays a bit too far away from the Mario universe. I also like the fact that each ghost has a back story in 1. So I think that 4 should keep the adventure type aspect, with the Mario universe respect and variety of 3, but with a more dramatic and scarier touch, like in 1.
Yes, the first game was scary, but as the series goes on Luigi, and therefore us, should be getting less and less scared. As I was playing 3 I was like, Luigi you've done this twice already and you're still not confident?
The vibes Luigi’s Mansion 1 always reminds of the vibes of The Haunted Mansion ride at Disney land/world where it was a mix of creepy with comedy. I wish the other two games had those vibes and maybe, hopefully the 4th game can bring back those vibes.
It can be creepy at times, but I feel like everyone keeps exaggerating how "scary" it is, as if they didn't first play the game as a kid where they would be easily scared. The game is also way goofier than people seem to realize, so I have no issue with the newer games leaning more in that direction.
Oh god. With that title for the video, I'm just imagining a violent cult of people wearing green "MLMSA" hats breaking into Nintendo HQ to kill Miyamoto.
I literally just made a video about this but the issue i have with the newer titles is the inclusion of gooigi and how he made the game more multiplayer focused, the element of exploring a haunted mansion alone was now gone which really sucks. Gooigi as a concept isn't bad but i really think he ruined how the game was structured, the moto became "this game is better with a friend" which really sucks. But yeah i agree with a lot said in this video the new LM games are more action adventure oriented than spooky and off putting
I don't think it needs to be scary, it just needs higher stakes. 2 did this really well with how King Boo broke a crystal that purified the ghosts, then experimented on them to make them more of threat, then went as far as rip open a portal to the ghost dimension and sended out so many ghosts that reality itself it would collapse if you didn't catch in time. 3's didn't do a good job at this as throughout most of the game, King Boo barely shows up and when he does, he just throws hissy fits about how everyone's so useless and how he's done with you(and mind you this is the 3RD time their facing off). I'm hoping in the fourth one King Boo does get more powerful rather than scraping the barrels for minions.
I agree. Having only played 3, I actually like that it is not too scary, but higher stakes and more development of King Boo would really help. Maybe King Boo can actually grow to like Hellen Gravely and they can fall in love; that would be creepy without being scary.
I have a theory that Luigi's Mansion 4 will take place in an ancient Egyptian-style pyramid/tomb. In the hallway of the Master Suite, Hellen Gravely has two paintings, one of herself and one of King Boo, dressed in attire for this situation; these are found on the opposite side of the hall from two other paintings, one of King Boo and one of King Boo with the Dark Moon, representing the first two games in the series, which might be a hint at this being the next game's theme since these are oddly specific and don't seem to reference anything else directly. Tomb Suites also had a lot going for it with the sand mechanics, and I think that could be expanded upon in a lot of ways, such as spraying sand over invisible paths to reveal them, filling in pits to walk over them safely, drawing patterns to solve puzzles, and much more! As for speculation, there could be a focus of going deep down into the pyramid, which would be different from the focuses of previous games while also bringing back some of the openness of the first game. This also renders the outward size and appearance of the location as a nonissue, as it would mostly be underground, allowing it to be however big the developers want without worrying about aesthetics. Finally, there could be an open hub world where the main pyramid could be entered at any time (and possibly from multiple entrances and a few secret ones), many smaller pyramids housing bonus/secret challenges, the scare scraper, and E. Gadd’s lab.
Compared to any Nintendo game, like say, Ocarina of Time, Metroid Prime 2 Echoes, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers or Giest. I get it, Luigi's Mansion was set at night in a mostly dark mansion ghosts could shake, but don't be so hyperbolic. This company published Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem! I admit, that dog got to me as a kid, Bogmire too, but Luigi's Mansion still pulled some punches, as it should have. Who thought showing me Samus's cardiac arrest from the perspective of her heart was a good idea. I definitely don't think Luigi's Mansion needed any toning down. Maybe removing some glitches, like where Luigi's shadow appears to have hung itself. Coding mistake, fine, remove it, but I don't think it needed to brightened or made cuter for the sake of it. The game already got brighter as rooms were cleared. That was incentive enough to clear rooms and go on the chase for boos.
I don't like the 3rd game and not afraid to say so. 2nd was fun at the time but I was still a teen and the novelty of Luigis mansion coming back was fresh (plus the 3d effect fulfilling the original game's vision). Also the 3rd is so similar to the 2nd, it makes the later's unique (at the time) art style and humor irrelevant. I don't think I'll buy another one until they get out of the comfort zone they've put the series into
I prefer the first luigis mansion, everything in that game was special. It gave that spooky vibes and the graphics of the ghosts and luigi himself i love that❤❤That is just me and my opinion. The other luigis mansion games i didnt like at all. I tried played the second game and wasnt impressed at all. But like i say. That is just me and my opinion
They need to take from the old beta. The beta had moments of genuine tension. Especially when they introduced the Basher Ghost. Imagine if the Basher was in all 3 games. What would you think if that actually happened?
I feel like they should combine both elements if Luigi’s mansion spooked and scary elements and the some if the new elements would probably make the game better I just wish they would combine both elements of Luigi mansion 1 and 3 into single game.
If I made an LM4 it wuold be happening outside an mansion in an more open night field that wuold look kinda like how nowhere looked in courage’s traversing through an valley filled with tourist trap places and motels
Am I the only one who thinks the first Luigi's mansion isn't scary? I think all of you are forgetting that you were kids when you first played this game, so it's more creepier moments were more effective at scarring you. Speaking as someone who grew up with dark moon and didn't play the first game until it was remade, a lot of you seem to undermine how goofy this game is. There's an enemy in the first game that literally attacks by bowling at you, and even most of the portrait ghosts have pretty silly dialogue and ways to defeat them. This series has always been goofy and cartoony, it just mixes in creepy moments here and there to fit with the haunted mansion theme. Even the later games accomplish this, as there are plenty of moments in dark moon that scared me as a kid, and still find a bit creepy even now.
Adding this reply here because I think my first comment is long enough. I think the main reason the newer games look goofier is because of how animated they are when compared to the first. I suppose you can also argue that the portrait ghost designs are kind of creepy, but everything else about them is still goofy and cartoony, so that hardly matters. I honestly don't understand why this series being silly is a problem, as I personally find it charming and helps the more creepier moments hit harder. Plus I usually expect my Mario games to be cartoony, so complaining about it just sounds stupid to me.
@@magic2546I totally agree with you. Also Luigi's Mansion 2 was also the first game in the series I ever played. Plus you're right Mario games are ment to be goofy and funny, so yeah complaining about that is just ridiculous.
@@TimothyGames-ta9 Mario games aren't necessarily goofy and funny they're just cartoony there's a difference there's nothing funny or goofy about Mario it's just colorful I don't remember anyone laughing at a Mario game but I understand your point of view. To be honest there's a lot of Mario games with dark and serious tones it's not just Luigi's Mansion the RPGs have very detailed story lines with a mixture of dark and goofy humor, Mario Striker's had a pretty gritty tone to it the way the characters acted in that game were very serious especially Waluigi and how sexual Peach kind of acted I mean when she wins she'll walk in a sexy type of way moving her hips side to side and shake her butt and her voice sounded like you were watching hentai. There's even dildo Jokes in Mario, in Super Mario RPG when you enter Peaches room and go by her dresser and click the A button to examine it says you've just found Peaches XXX? Then she screams at Mario and tells him don't look over there and at the ending of Super Princess Peach the game tells the player about a tool called the vibe scepter and it says that it's something that could be hidden in your house and some one could be using it right now and that it makes your mom happy. Maybe it's just us thinking to deep into it but it definitely sounds like a vibrator if you ask me and in the Japanese version of Mario kart for the SNES at the end of the race when they show who's in 1st 2nd and 3rd place the characters would celebrate and get drunk with a glass of alcohol in their hand. Anyway Miyamoto has said it a lot before that he never wanted Mario to be just for kids even though it may be the targeted audience but to tell you the truth the ones playing Mario back in the day were mostly adults and even now that's why Mario is so popular he's rated E for everyone meaning all ages not only kids so them putting dark elements in Mario games is not surprising.
Making it scary is a horrible idea sure it will be nicer but the target audience for this game is unironically children and those children had such a good impression of 3 because of how spooky it was without it actually being scary if it ends up being scarier I won’t be surprised if it doesn’t get the same sales as the previous 2 entries
Nintendo should let off of the babyifing all there games the og Luigi's mansion was awesome the whole atmosphere the feel 9f the game was on point for what the game was none of the other games have came close
Wait was Luigi's Mansion games scary sometime 2 and 3 aren't any scary, but if I remember it right Luigi's Mansion 1 is the SCARIEST Luigi's Mansion game because there's a lot of scary elements like a shadow where Luigi looked like to be on noose and the death screen when you die in the game! I really wan't to play and have an experience about Luigi's Mansion 1, but I don't even have Nintendo Gamecube, maybe I'll wait for it's HD Remake too when every Luigi's Mansion games are on Switch! I do really hope Nintendo make Luigi's Mansion game to be a real like Horror game, but knowing Nintendo it would not to be any scary game. But about of Luigi's Mansion 4 what I believe is coming for Nintendo Switch 2 there's a lot of themes what would work: Train or Ship defienitily Ship where Daisy take Luigi and friends with her on the vacation! 🚢👻😈💚
"In Luigi's Mansion 3 he was exploring a giant, fancy hotel" Which of course, is part of the problem because its not a mansion. We've been conditioned to think of hotels as these clean and sometimes glitzy get-away-from-your-problems atmospheres that doesn't suck you in as spooky. Meanwhile, mansions are often still portrayed as spooky and scary through media like Addams Family, Munsters, Haunted Mansion, Clue, Knives Out, Castlevania, and probably many others that I can't think of off top of my head. Scary hotels on the other hand maybe have only Psycho to credit? A scary movie to be sure, but I think people have seen a lot more TV shows and movies with spooky mansions than scary hotels, and the proportions of mansions that are scary in media is high while proportions of hotels that are spooky is very low. Thus mansions are inherently a lot scarier than hotels.
@@jamesheatherly4209 Good call out, but isn't it more funny/wacky than spooky/scary? I don't recall there being anything particularly spooky about the hotel itself other than its Transylvanian location. Inside it seems to look and function pretty much like any other high class hotel. I guess there's some dungeon features and other typical Halloween stuff here and there in the hotel, but it doesn't strike me as seriously scary locale. The big reason Hotel Transylvania is spooky is because of the guests and Drac's magic (flying tables for example.) Its not the hotel building itself that provides most of the spook factor - its the inhabitants. On the otherhand, most of the mansions I named remain a bit scary DESPITE the cast's campy and humorous antics. The exterior of Addams manor is clearly meant to be intimidating and the interior has some really freaky rooms. Clue takes place in a secluded manor far outside the city, during a rainstorm, and has several secret passages. To be honest I was kind of stretching it a bit on the hotels already with Psycho because its not really the hotel as much as the Bates mansion next to it that is the scarier locale (but people remember the hotel more because that's where the infamous shower murder takes place.)
I'm an adult who has only played 3, and it was fantastic! I actually avoided the series altogether until recently because it looked too scary, but 3 has really gotten me into it and now I'm excited for the next game.

The vibes Luigi’s Mansion 1 always reminds of the vibes of The Haunted Mansion ride at Disney land/world where it was a mix of creepy with comedy. I wish the other two games had those vibes and maybe, hopefully the 4th game can bring back those vibes.
To be fair the first game wasn't really that scary anyway.
It can be creepy at times, but I feel like everyone keeps exaggerating how "scary" it is, as if they didn't first play the game as a kid where they would be easily scared. The game is also way goofier than people seem to realize, so I have no issue with the newer games leaning more in that direction.
I agree with Nin10doland
Good Job Nin10doland 💙🧡💚❤️✅👍
@@BlueGalaxy64 Or maybe give him a new gem with new powers. Or even give Gravely at least a fraction of his powers.
@@Mymy_64or maybe have king boo take over the multiverse so he can control everything
@@NickMario1 He doesn't need to be that powerful. Just powerful enough to where he does simply than just kidnap people.

I kinda want Luigi Mansion 4 to happen
The First Luigi’s Mansion Game was my first video game and it scared the crap out of me. But that made me enjoy the game even more as a 4 Year Old
I have a theory that Luigi's Mansion 4 will take place in an ancient Egyptian-style pyramid/tomb.
Gadd’s lab.
I hope Luigi's Mansion 4 is a throwback to the vibes of the first game but with some light hearted moments involving nonhostile characters.
I was trying to go to sleep to this and when I heard the ghost noise I actually banged my head on the wall cause it scared me 8:28
I still get haunted by that game over screen, gave me nightmares for weeks as a kid
Same it is so creepy.
Me too. It was creepy as heck.
Interesting Video.
I wouldn’t mind if the next game was scary.
Hmm
Every since the 2nd one they made the ghost a lot more cartoonish and samie
I think the Hotel Transylvainia movies are to blame for the change in tone.
I love Luigi’s Mansion 2 & 3. But they don’t even come close to Luigi’s Mansion 1. It is one of my favorite games ever made.
I don't think I'll buy another one until they get out of the comfort zone they've put the series into
Wait… you think Luigi’s mansion is scary?
I prefer the first luigis mansion, everything in that game was special. It gave that spooky vibes and the graphics of the ghosts and luigi himself i love that❤❤That is just me and my opinion. The other luigis mansion games i didnt like at all. I tried played the second game and wasnt impressed at all. But like i say. That is just me and my opinion
They need to take from the old beta. The beta had moments of genuine tension. Especially when they introduced the Basher Ghost.
Imagine if the Basher was in all 3 games. What would you think if that actually happened?
Theres a monster in monster hunter that has no music called khezu and it's make gives the hunt creepy vibes
@@TimothyGames-ta9 Mario games aren't necessarily goofy and funny they're just cartoony there's a difference there's nothing funny or goofy about Mario it's just colorful
I don't remember anyone laughing at a Mario game but I understand your point of view.
@@akerumiyamoto Oh sorry sorry I ment cartoony, I readed the wrong word, my bad my bad. Thanks for correcting me btw.
Making it scary is a horrible idea sure it will be nicer but the target audience for this game is unironically children and those children had such a good impression of 3 because of how spooky it was without it actually being scary if it ends up being scarier I won’t be surprised if it doesn’t get the same sales as the previous 2 entries
Finnaly no switch 2 video
Nintendo should let off of the babyifing all there games the og Luigi's mansion was awesome the whole atmosphere the feel 9f the game was on point for what the game was none of the other games have came close
People have compared the ghosts from 2 and 3 to Minions or Rabbids

Luigis Mansion needs to be more scary
Luigi’s Mansion 4 🙏🏼
Nintendo needs to put that game in the switch and remaster it like luigui mansion 2
"In Luigi's Mansion 3 he was exploring a giant, fancy hotel"
Which of course, is part of the problem because its not a mansion.
Have you seen Hotel Transylvania?
Please 🙏
