I think demons has turned balenciaga into a performance art piece. What happens to creative vision when the motivation becomes purely profit. Your words capture it wonderfully
Balenciaga used to make beautiful flattering everyday dresses (my grandmother wore some and then passed them on to me) and they held up thru time both in style and quality of fabrics and sewing. I always got compliments when I wore them. Miss those. (Same for Albert Nippon- gorgeous suits I could wear to work and to go out after- and affordable).
The whole collection is the visual embodiment of the phrase "f*** it". A mockery of the reuse-recycle ethic. Take the piles of refuse and crappy unwanted clothes and literally pile them on the model, or twist it around, crumple it up, and send them out. "F*** it, and f*** you, you'll buy it no matter what."
The pile of clothes one feels like cosplaying homelessness, which I could get behind if there were some substance and critique behind it, but nothing else in the collection is tying that in so it just seems shallow and lazy
I have to agree with you - the only one of these I like is the white melted plastic one. Although I will say the belt dress is... Kinda interesting? I agree it's not my idea of haute couture but it's at least visually interesting - and not in an unpleasant way like some of the other looks.
The pink sweatshirt dress, puffer jacket and belt dress are all very much giving ru Paul’s a drag race design challenge lol. Willow pills underwear dress and uticas sleeping bag dress would like a word.
Nothing says "hypocrisy" like pretending to do recycling clothes on your fashions and then selling those ugly craps to people for thousand of dollars. NOT for aesthetic or functionality purpose. But purely for attention of "I'm wEarInG Balenciaga. LooK At Me".
I think it loses its power when you have to dedicate a web page that explains why this t-shirt is ACTUALLEHH Haute Couture. The nuances are often hard to see and it is great to get a clearer picture to truly appreciate the artisanal aspects of it, but a t-shirt or a denim trouser are not couture.
I'm sat thinking one thing: if Cristóbal Balenciaga woke up from the grave he would end his life all over if he saw what Demna has done to this house. So tasteless and especaily for haute couture, the other shows put this brand to absolute shame.

Apparently, Balenciaga used to make amazing designer clothes. Now I don't know what happened. But their fashion line sure went from Gorgeous to such hideous Garbage.
It put me in mind of the bad days when you're laying in bed, cocooned in bedding and disheveled PJs, while glancing at that pile of clothes that needs washing while binging Project Runway.... It was just depressing.

Anyone who buys this brand is honestly tasteless I prefer to dress myself with Supermarket clothes before wearing this ridiculous things and the things on the shops are even worse
