I recently got back into CB & Ham radios after a long hiatus. I got the 959G model brand new for Christmas & I love it. It’s a gorgeous radio & it can really talk. On sideband I regularly talk to people hundreds/thousands of miles away. I know that’s mainly skip, but this is by far one of the best radios I’ve ever owned.
Had one in junior high circa 1996. But I did just buy another Malaysian made unit a few weeks ago because I'm fat and old now, and for 150 bucks just looking at it makes me happy. Just went through it today and made it like I remember. Loud as hell. My fellow ham buddies are going to geek at breakfast tomorrow morning when they see it setup with my secret Texas Star 500 HA! Looking forward to the verbal abuse hehe Youth Baby! Buy it if you can
I haven't used a Galaxy in a long time. I'd love to get my 88HL restored because dad bought it for me around 93-94. Do the sideband Galaxy radios still have the infamous drift to them?
@Hazmat Hauler the only reason I care much about mine is because dad bought it and a Texas Star 500v for me. He died in 2000 and I'd just like to have both restored.
@@root7205 That’s a great combo! I had my Galaxy 66 rebuilt my Pops bought new in ‘96. It cost me $350. Worth every penny. The Radio Garage out of Pa did it. Matt does great custom work. He has a UA-cam channel.
I know this is an older video . I am looking for some advice. I picked up one of these dx959 . It is older but I did not pay much for it . I was shocked it lit up and transmitted without smoke . It does not have stock power cord or mic . The mic is a junky power mic with echo . It has 2 switches on the bottom of the case . No idea what they do . I have not messed with them . Is it worth taking it in and having it gone over . Tune it up and everything. Also . I do have my tech. License. Can these be made to do ten meters ?
they should have never stopped making the original with the green led's, to make this one with the stupid blue lights. but thats what these idiot cb companies do every time. discontinue the best selling most wanted and loved radios and make complete garbage in its place.

I have one still in the box. Nothing done to it. Did you do a basic adj. Or did you replace finals to get this performance?
