a little.
Only way your lower cam gear can't be lined up is your chain is broken
Donde puedo comprar este Kit de reparación.?
I'm sorry I don't understand Spanish.
@@PaulPhillipsFix Where can I buy this Repair Kit?
@@zik004 They have replacement kits on E Bay. I don't have the info on the one I used as I sent link to bike owner and he ordered it.
Do you have that part number by chance?
No, sorry. My friend ordered it so it's not in any of my accounts info.
Here's one that has heavy duty sprags in it. www.ebay.com/itm/Heavy-Duty-VStar-V-Star-XVS-1100-XVS1100-Starter-Clutch-Gear-kit-99-09-Freewheel/380947673871?epid=1991106009&hash=item58b240330f:g:TkkAAOSwewJTmnOY
To I repair like that same
Yes
Why did you go through and check your top dead center you didn't have an issue with the timing you said it was the one-way clutch that's why Magneto has a Woodruff key can only get it in the right position you can't get it a hundred and eighty out
First time doing that job on that bike I was playing it safe. I did it by the book.
Most certainly can throw the timing out on these being they are a v twin i bought my bike for 300 from a guy who didn't know what he was doing and blew the timing changing the starter clutch

The video doesn’t show what your trying to show. Kinda frustrating not to be able to see what your referring to
I'm sorry about that. This is one of the first videos I attempted for You Tube. If you watch some of my other stuff I think I've done a little better with practice. Thanks for watching, Paul.
Ah, 45 minute job...
Lol ya 45mins times 6
i would love this video to be pointed to the area you working !! is like a drunk dude working that camera i know is hard to work and film but you missed half of the shot B- I REALLY WISHED I COULD HAVE SEEN BETTER!!
Sorry for the bad camera work. This was my first video and I didn't even plan on filming but I thought some of the information might be useful.
If you get that big pop you’re f&$@ed I broke my cam chain sprocket doing this better line the two sprockets up before you tighten anything!!!
Did you find a way to line the gears up? Stuck and paranoid at this step lol
Yessir slide a punch in the holes of the scissor gear and make sure the teeth are lined up this video costed me an extra 485 bucks that scissor gear is not a cheap item
@@angusbrewer3894 thanks buddy oof yea I could imagine
That's what I was telling the other guy, not disrespectful just ad u said and I said line em up, and its cool to take off flywheel nut with impact, not cool to put it back on with one, the spec on that nut is 129 ft lbs, overtighten made need a new crank, get the right tools, I am ordering the correct flywheel holder from yamaha at great expence, as in $254, but as a mechanic I will not chance snapping end if crank off to hurry the job, there are nice puller ebay for exactly that mc mines an 04 I had 0 problems removind flywheel, with no damage to crankshaft, universal one will fit but move too much to stay completely parallel gl all be safe
For sure that entire flwheel assembly slides in if installed correctly, sorry for your problems bro
Hi,
Hello
Hi
Great job but need to slow down with camera i had to freeze the video all through the whole thing. Stupid yamaha not caring about the customers..ill remember that.
Sorry about lousy video, I've since bought a Go Pro and tripods. It was one of my first videos. I hope you'll see the improvements in newer videos. If you haven't already subscribed, please do so. I would greatly appreciate your support of our channel. Thanks, Paul.
WHY is the CAMERA NOT pointed AT the AREA you are working on??? =/ CAN"T SEE SHIT = your pointing at things OUT of FRAME
Microscopic debri? 😂 Doing mine on Saturday.
Any sort of abrasive debris.
Very strange I and missing one of the pins that goes inside the spring. I took the back gear off with the starter clutch and put in a box and kept it together. When I took the top gear off there were one 5 pins. It couldn't have fallen out because I took it apart inside the box. 🤔
I didn't have to move the starter motor. I just turned it with the idler gear and got everything lined up. It's slipped right on. I trial started it and the flywheel and gears spun perfect. Now how l do I get the nut torqued down? I tried the strap wrench but it just spins.
@@travisj2695 I did the strap wrench and hit it with a half inch drive impact. Not by the book but it worked.
All that jewelry on. Your not a mechanic for a living
This guy is a goof! decent vid thanks, leave out the foul language next time tho, if possible... and a little shaky, made me dizzy a bit also.. but thanks again!:-)
where is the repairing : you just installed a new starter clutch
Duh that's the repair... what would you call it?
@@PaulPhillipsFix : it is a great video Sir , thank you ..I dont remember when I have commented on it.
The video sucks never can see important stuff.
Try looking for the other version. I used camera stabilization in one of the editing programs and it made it too close up. This was one of my very first UA-cam videos and I did try my best with what I had..
thks for all those informations, really appreciate
Thank you Tonny, I appreciate the kind words. It makes my day to hear that I could help someone out. Stay safe, there are a lot of idiots on the road. I got clobbered on Nov of this past year, my bike is totaled and my back is a mess.
