I wouldn’t call it crap but it’s definitely derivative and nowhere near as original and inspiring as Smith’s solo work. Heatmiser is stuck in time, Smith is timeless.
The intro is just a rearrangement of the chords from Smells like Teen Spirit. I think this sort of thing is why Elliott Smith wanted to move on to his solo career. To be fair, every other band during the grunge tsunami was doing the same thing. Also, the audio quality of this recording can tell you practically nothing of what it sounded like live.
Thanks for posting this. I think this was the Ramskeller show I was at, with Christie Front Drive opening. Elliot Smith borrowed a guitar from CFD for this set, if I remember correctly. I had been listening to Roman Candle almost continually for two or three months at that point. I am so glad I picked up Cop and Speeder LP and the Sleeping Pill/Temper that night, though. To my ear, they still hold up over 20 years later.
Whoa, I am like four feet from Heatmiser in 1994. This is unbelievably cool.
this was 4 months after Roman Candle was released.
Such a great, underrated band!
Back when a vintage Jaguar was still financially feasible.
OMG...
Amazing.. I can't find the correct words for this feeling..
Thank you for sharing!!
Does anybody have more Heatmiser footage?
god bless you for this man
such a treat to see! awesome!
thanks for uploading! :D
YES
what a busted lip. sheesh
This explains why Elliott broke away! This is crap
Seriously though, like high school talent show. It's funny hearing his soft voice drowned by drums and power chords
Dumbass
You're fired .

Ever heard Elliott through a JCM 800? Now ya have.
lol and he took the Marshall off it?
Ok, I just asked this question and now I feel stupid. But what is Elliott using?

Actually, I think Neil borrowed the guitar. Here is a bit of the CFD set from that night. ua-cam.com/video/wvpeXD1nihc/v-deo.html
About 3 times a year I load up the Heatmiser on the Iphone, and it is every bit as good now as 25 years ago.
I love Christie front drive
I can’t believe they played this show with Angel Hair. Must’ve been a fucking legendary show to be at.
Busted Lip is so amazing...
That lead singer's got potential...wonder what happened to him? 😞
SIMPLY AMAZING.
Anyone know what equipment they’re using? Particularly Elliott Smith?
i think it’s an epiphone wilshire from the 60s, they were made in japan, i have one too without a whammy bar from the 70s
@@demondarcy3911 thanks for the info. Any idea on the Marshall?
@@ericgaudette4309 looks like a jcm 800, it’s hard to tell but that would be my guess
@@demondarcy3911 that’s my guess too. Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply, I appreciate that.
@@ericgaudette4309 no problem man
