Inside A Virgin Village Of Arunachal Pradesh | Wakka - Rarest Of The Rare Place | Wancho Naga Tribe

  • Опубліковано 11 жов 2024
  • Arunchal Pradesh has 26 main tribes and 100+ sub tribes. This time I managed to reach a totally offbeat place in Arunachal called ‘Wakka Village’ - they call it rarest of the rare village. No tourist or outsiders have been able to make it to this place yet. And I feel fortunate to have got an opportunity to explore this village. Probably the only place in Arunachal where Monarchy still exists. Wakka Village is dominated by people from Wancho Tribe.
I was invited here by the Tourism Department of Arunachal Pradesh to explore the new routes and villages they are planning to open for travellers. As I did that, I also got an opportunity to witness the Flag-Off event of the Women Biking Expedition - "ExploreBeyond" organized by the tourism department in Pasighat to spread awareness about Women's Empowerment in the state.

      Don't forget tirap.
Changlang and longding formed from undivided tirap. Now known as TCL region. The home of Tang-Shang nagas also known as tangsa, nocte, wancho, ollo and tutsa.
Konyak also comes under tangshang nagas by lineage like us.
British called all the frontier region of patkai Hill tribes as "konyak" a mispronounced version of "khaonyak/khunyak/khanyak/khenak/khonyak/khonak") which literally means kho/khu/khao/khe etc= head and nyak/nak=black. Black headed or black haired people in different dialects for all the group of people or generally to All the tibeto-Burman group.
Probably to divide themselves form the other hair colored group when they used to live in South western China /northern tibet along the tocharians and other indo-iranian tribes.
Just like "tangut" a tibeto-Burman dynasty used to call themselves - "mi-nyak".
Tangshang is our origin. Tangnyu wang and shangnyu wang the two wang lineage is our origin.
Wang means chief/king in all of tangshang dialect.

    • @chingekonyak6767

@@DesiGirlTraveller thanks for sharing your opinion. In Konyak Naga we do have two village called Tangnyu and Shangnyu... If you didn't belive .. Google it. As per my assumption my forefather were been migrated from Tibiten/ Indo China.

    • @MR_TRIPLE_ONE
      @MR_TRIPLE_ONE Рік тому +2

@@chingekonyak6767 tangnyu and shangnyu of mon district is different than the tangnyu wang and shangnyu wang lineage of tangshang group. Although those villages has origin in tangshang.
The Tang-Shang group once were same dialect speaking people stating in kachin province near hukong Valley before migrating to patkai hills. Hence, why there are still some tangshang people living there.
We migrated along with the singphos to northern Myanmar from yunnan province in China.
Before that we migrated from around chinghai lake region and Southern mongolia/Northern tibet/Western China near present uighar province.
Probably related to the early tangut or western xia dynasty.
Although I think during all these migrations we have mixed with the people we came in contact with but we maintained our own. And the differentiation probably after the war with the tai-shan groups whom we called "Shamsa" in northern naga dialect thousand years back.
This war lasted for years and there are many folk tales and songs about it.
It was way back before the tai ahoms of 13th century.
The war with the tai shans is why we wear elephant ivory tusk on our arms as a sign of victory over them.
Headhunting and tattooing also became prominent during this era probably according to tales.
Then came the infighting, dispersion, migration to patkai hills westward.
It is said many followed the path of "wak"wild boars during westward migration. And the tang and Shang got divided over two hills and the variation in dialects and customs became evident over waves of migration and village style kingdoms.
Some tangshang didn't follow the strict rule of absolute system of wang or king/chief system where as the other group did.
So in tangshang, if you see single hornbill feather wearer in our conical headgear of tangshang nagas that is the people where the chief/king system is not prevalent and everyone is equal and if there is two or more hornbill feathers adorned in headgear it means, there is wang system of royalty and commoner groups denoted by the feathers.
Although the republican tangshang group too have chief or wang but not as prominence as the other group.
There is also an interesting folktale regarding the divide amongst the Tangshang over that.
Most of this information is provided by Burmese tangshang sources as well as tangshang sources of arunachal.
