Very pretty “little sister”. Sense of humor runs in the family, I see. I am the little sister to my brother who is a sailor. We’ve been sailing since I was 4; my brother 6. I must confess, the footage of you and your lovely sister made me tear up. My brother and I are extremely close. Fair Winds, Barry.
The two catamaran's in the background are interesting Barry. I am not sure what the first and larger one is but it could be a Paper Tiger or similar class. The second and smaller boat with the distinctive 'humped back' is identical to a 20' 'Yvonne' class and my late Dad used to own and race one. The hulls and bridge are constructed of plywood so the boats are quite light and fast for their size and I have memories of sailing with Dad on his as a young bloke. Yvonne class boats which were used for racing featured a 'trapeze' cable either side of the mast which the Forrard hand would attach to a harness worn for the purpose. The bench style backrests on the boat in your vlog are undoubtedly some sort of latter day modification. When attached to the trapeze you literally stand off the hull to provide a lateral ballast effect in a manner similar to a bosun's chair to help keep the relevant hull down when sailing at high power. Prior to your footage I hadn't seen an Yvonne class cat since early in the 1980's but I still have a photo of Dad with his boat somewhere.
When I come back to Canada after this crazy lock down in Grenada I will start to play lotto (never did) and if I win any money I intend to buy for you lifetime supply of baked bins and sausages. Cheers. Capt. Jack
@5:04 looks like you're missing the baby head stay...not sure if it's a big deal but European boat builders tend to think so. I see them as jib sheet snaggers ;) Love the scenes with your sister...like two kids on an adventure.
Lov'in the dog bowl idea - As Darwin say's "Adapt or Die", however I do hope you weren't serving-up your grog & goulash to lovely little Sis during her venture? The Lady is obviously more used silver cutlery and lead crystal :)
Gotta 'Double Rig' that foresail so you can gybe without having to run the stay around the mast by hand each time. But this is 3 years after the fact, so I guess you've got that sorted out by now. Nice to see you're not the only comedian in the family. My sis would have been making rude noises in the background whilst I filmed...
Canned food! When i solo sail i live off canned food but when my wife is with me she insists on everything being fresh. The longest trip we have been at sea together, so far, is seven days and on that trip she was getting anxious that she might have to resort to opening a can....
These videos are awesome Barry. Congratulations on your first sail! It was also really nice to see some Barry Perrins Guerrilla cooking. :) I'm wondering if those propane tanks in the lazarette are secured well enough so that they won't rock back and forth in a storm, and also if they are protected from other items in the lazarette that might hit them and the hoses. ? ? ? I'm really looking forward to seeing that hydrovane working and hearing what you think of it. Looking forward to tomorrow's episode! :)
Just found your channel and have watched 8 videos..... this is great.... I see it's a long time ago that these were made but I've missed something, why on earth are you going to (already there I take it) sail back to Blighty for..???? Warren s/y Legend
Just noticed the playlist of your episodes is the wrong way around. Playing from newest to the latest. Its kind of annoying to click every single video :O But I like it so far :)
SO, you go out fora FIRST Sail, take you Sister with you And what does she do while you’re motoring out....!!?? 😱🤷🏻♂️ Sit there playing with her I-Phone. 📱📲📞. 2:22
Always heard of you talking about sending word back to your sister, but now I've met her in a video. Wonderful sail.

Your sister has the same humor. Awesome!
Your sister is hilarious with the fake barfing. I had a good laugh!
Shaddy looks so different now to way back in the beginning :)

So when considering buying a sreel boat, get a boat with a stainless steel kitchen to cut up 🐟 and a wood burner stove.😉
nice video - best of luck crossing Biscay.
+Barry Sonha Cheers.

Coz even though it's hell, it's still home.
Lovin' the videos. I may have missed it but what kind of boat is she? Thank you for sharing!
Matt
+Matt Kurrle Hi, she's a Van der stadt Seal 36 in steel. Thanks for watching. New episodes every Monday. Cheers.
Where did you get a can of Trader Joe’s baked beans in Portugal?

I'd have a hard time enjoying a meal out of a dog bowl, but it does seem rather practical...
in a way its like pavlov's dog
The "front sail" is called "A genua".
She is far too good looking to be your sister .....lol
Slingshot
