- Here's how to play the classic beginners electric guitar song "Zombie" by Irish rock band The Cranberries!

This song has just 4 chords; Em, C major, G major and D major. These chords are played as clean open chords, and then as distorted power chords. This change of sound mid-song can be achieved by having an overdrive/distortion pedal, or a 2 (or more) channel guitar amplifier.
Tragically, lead vocalist and songwriting Dolores O'Riordan died in 2018. But her music and influence lives on. The importance of The Cranberries to the 90s alternative rock movement cannot be overstated. Dolores herself went on to become an icon in her own right, influencing countless fans plus artists as diverse as Florence Welsh and Adele to Faye Wong, one of China's biggest pop stars.

Been practicing for 2 years, this is still on of my all time favorite warmup songs. Or sometimes just a easy chord progression to play around with.

This is the 3rd video I have watched to learn how to play a VERY simple song and all three are different.. Lol... To me, this is 100% the most accurate. The main difference, if not only, comes in the chorus. You seem to be the only one who smashes the Overdrive/Distortion hard enough and for me is where is has to be the power chords.
the ONLY thing I will say is that if you watch Delores play it live (RIP), she used the lil E string for the lil intro bit....

how come there is literally no hum whatsoever?
konfo95 It looks like he is in using position 2 - bridge + middle. The middle pick up is usually hum cancelling when used with other Strat pickups.
If you cant play this song with out this lesson you better stop playing.. to simple 👍
