Aloha Josh, I remember when you filmed that first video in the beginning and why. That was a very nice pile up on 10 meters that day with that custom go box. Some weeks ago, I was the victim of an accident in which I was T-Boned by a girl on her cell phone doing 60mph when she ran the red light. I just spent another week in the hospital here in Honolulu and still so very sore and will be for a long time. This new part is actually ideal for those of us that are disabled and just want to keep things quick, simple and get on the air. Not too much bending over, laying things on the ground nor picking things up. I could even see this part modified just a little bit to hook the mast pole to the lip of the baseplate pipe, allowing everything to be set up as easy as 1,2,3. The possibilities are endless in this SPORT, eh, I meant, Hobby, lol! 😂🤣❤😂🤣 Todd de WH6DWF 🇺🇸🤙🏻🇺🇸
Due to various circumstances my car is my primary shack, so I'm really excited to see Chameleon offering a drive over mast mount. Absolutely something I'll be adding to my vehicle kit going forward.
Well-done video! I just bought the 20-ft mast with the wheel mount and the mast topper. Looking forward to activating that that mast! FYI ... everything I've purchased from Chameleon is FIRST RATE!
I know Chameleon make great quality products but the $79 Harbor Freight telescoping flagpole is definitely more bang for the buck. If this was closer to $100 I would have bought that one.
Thanks Josh. It looks like this is a great option for an urban setup. Looks like for about $1000 I can have a mast and antenna with the delta loop. Thanks!
This just might be what I need to get from me on the ground floor up past the 4th floor of my condo. Put the Chal mil whip and extension on top and I'm clear and free of the HOA.
Thanks for the video! I'm considering the porta-mast for a semipermanent installation on my QTH. I'm restricted by FAA, so I'm thinking installing the top mount on my roof and using the mast to install some a vertical and a wire antenna. I wonder if I would have to put up a second one if I have more than one vertical? Or would I be able to dual mount it? The video did a good job of showing the mechanism, I'm really pleased with that! I can use that to take things down for storms and hurricanes!
I'd like to hear from northern US users who can share their experience with this mast in winter snow/ice freezing temperatures. The 'flag-pole' alternative masts freeze up and can be a real pain to collapse.
Do you think that the 25ft Cha-Porta mast will be able to handle the COMET CHA-250HD HF vertical antenna? I am considering this as a semi-permanent install on the side of my house. The Cha-Porta mast is not as heavy duty as the Spiderbeam 10m mast, but its also not $600.
Thanks for doing the video. I imagine a classic Buddipole should work fine with the mast. Any grief from the rangers at Crystal Cove about setting up?..nice place but very very popular at the weekends.
KI6NAZ, KI5SIB. I have another question for you since you own the CHA portal-mast. I live in an area that’s mainly over quarry rock in San Antonio. I am thinking of maybe using the wheel mount and placing something substantial, like brick over the tongue side to keep the mast steady, or maybe making some cement screw mounts to it to keep a 25ft pole steady. Do you have any advice or recommendations since I am in an HOA who has CC&Rs, some of which is illegal to Texas?
I love my TDL, but assuming I toss my MPAS on the top of this... What would you recommend doing with the radial? I'm guessing either one just hanging down the length of the antenna, or have it slope out a bit to a point on the ground?
Is this something that can be raised from the ground for those of us looking to use a mobile mount with a sedan or SUV vs a pickup? The 25 foot mast shows a collapsed height of almost 8 feet and that's before putting an antenna on top of the mast.
You choose a beach by saltwater where just about any antenna will perform well. Put it in an inland big city HOA and lets see, need adverse environment testing.
Dear Josh, I cannot agree more - quality costs. ”The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.” Often attributed to Benjamin Franklin. Forget about the politics!
110% agreed! That's the reason why I started Chameleon Antenna about 16 years ago! I find out that too much garbage was for sale - so I decided that quality products should be also available when needed!
I was just wondering. Could the 25 foot mast be used at lessor height ? For example just put up enough mast for each mast section. Or will you always be required to use the full 25 foot. I thought of this after I ordered last night.
It would be less costly if they were manufactured in another state than California. Being a former San Diegan and getting driven out by Democrat mismanagment, I would never purchase these items from Chameleon. I do have 2 of their antennas, though. They, they are well made, but I would buy elsewhere.
@Ham Radio Crash Course it's not political. It's economics. The costs to manufacture in California is absurd. The legislature makes all kinds of demands on business, and those costs get paid for by the end user. People have a choice on if they desire to make California a beautiful state with their contributions to the state coffers. Aside from that, politics may be frowned upon on the airwaves, though there is no hard and fast rule if two individuals agree to have such a discussion. This is UA-cam. While it is a fact that is operated by the far left and heavily censored, there is no rule about discussing politics . An example is Ricinbacker guitars. They were told that even with all of the machinery to filter the discharge from their spray booths that they could only produce so many instruments in a day, thanks to the enviromentalists who rule the legislature. Ricinbacker had a choice to relocate and be free to produce to meet the market demands. They decided to remain in California and create an artificial scarcity that the consumers pay for. I own literally dozens of instruments and not a single Ricinbacker. Economics. Its is a great word that too many people choose to ignore. BTW if political decisions drive economics then it really should be part of the discourse of every American as we have watched a flourishing economy get dismantled, prices skyrocket, and many families struggle to provide the essentials for their children. I hope that everybody makes wise choices this time.
We aren’t even located in California but in Nevada! California is our main manufacturing vendors because they’ve been established for about 20 years in that location and they’re the best at what they do!
Not the first time Josh has cost me money! Probably not the last time either...
I didn't see shipping on the masts.
Ordered the 25’ on Tuesday! Using it to hide from the HOA. ;)

A VAST improvement over an old design.
I love the way that locks when extended.
Yeah, it's pretty nice.
But the locking mechanism is plastic. Too bad it's not aluminum .
Love the video!
I trust Chameleon to be top-tier equipment. Buy once, cry once.
and then cry again if you break it
sent this video to a buddy and said you cost me money. loved the internal view of the locking, thanks.
Well-done video! I just bought the 20-ft mast with the wheel mount and the mast topper. Looking forward to activating that that mast! FYI ... everything I've purchased from Chameleon is FIRST RATE!
That mast looks and operates just like my 20' telescoping flag pole.
I know Chameleon make great quality products but the $79 Harbor Freight telescoping flagpole is definitely more bang for the buck. If this was closer to $100 I would have bought that one.
Outstanding vid Josh. 👍
Looks like I need to get one. Bet running the TDL as a vertical would work great.
Yes, absolutely, the TDL can be deployed vertically. I did a review for the TDL, take a look.
Thanks Josh. It looks like this is a great option for an urban setup. Looks like for about $1000 I can have a mast and antenna with the delta loop. Thanks!
Cool setup Josh!!!

That's a cool setup!
Great video
Thanks for the visit
The hitch mount you can make it longer if you have a welding machine And you can open the tailgate
If you have a welder make the whole mount yourself. Pretty simple.
I like. I love it. I want some more of it.

Hey that's a neat antenna mast idea.
I'll just rip it off and make it at home.
As a Costco sampler I Agree LOL. Good video Josh.

Thanks for watching!

Is your Delta Loop the CHA TDL? Im considering the 20ft with Hitch mount and Mast topper
Yes it is! The TDL on the ground gets a lot more NVIS, when its on the mast it really works well. I was very impressed.
Well I ran an hf beam on a spider beam telescoping pole the other say soooo recommendations are recommendations lol😅

The old, "Park & Bark"!
Thanks for doing the video. I imagine a classic Buddipole should work fine with the mast. Any grief from the rangers at Crystal Cove about setting up?..nice place but very very popular at the weekends.
Nah. I was backed up into a corner. No one came around.
KI6NAZ, KI5SIB.

Just buy the permanent installation mount. They have mast mounts that aren’t the wheel mount.
I don't know. I was contemplating the 25' for a lightweight 10 meter 2 element,
but it looks a little flimsy for that.
I love my TDL, but assuming I toss my MPAS on the top of this... What would you recommend doing with the radial? I'm guessing either one just hanging down the length of the antenna, or have it slope out a bit to a point on the ground?
What is the diameter of the top of mast topper? I need to know and can’t get a reply from them. Does anyone know? Thanks!
Tight
Thanks for the video. Is there a way to guy the mast for extra piece of mind? Love Chameleon antennas and own a few. S tier all the way.
I am not aware, maybe make a guy plate of the spot between the top and second segment?
How would this mast be for a permanent installation?
Is this something that can be raised from the ground for those of us looking to use a mobile mount with a sedan or SUV vs a pickup? The 25 foot mast shows a collapsed height of almost 8 feet and that's before putting an antenna on top of the mast.
You would likely need a step ladder. The segments are about 8'.
Each segment is 8'....I wonder if that'll fit in the back of most typical SUVs like my Subaru Outback? What is the length of the shorter masts?
Cool
You choose a beach by saltwater where just about any antenna will perform well. Put it in an inland big city HOA and lets see, need adverse environment testing.
I’ve already reviewed the antenna ground mounted and inland in an older video. Search “tactical delta loop” I literally referenced it in the video.
Some operators have been using the CHA TDL in downtown LA (surrounded by tall structures) for NVIS purposes.

Hi Josh, Great video & love the mast.
Im wondering if the 25tf could be shipped to Australia & if so how much ?.
You’d have to talk to Chameleon for that.
Thanks @@HamRadioCrashCourse keep up the great videos.
mine literally shipped today; this better be a positive video
Nice!
I was just wondering. Could the 25 foot mast be used at lessor height ? For example just put up enough mast for each mast section. Or will you always be required to use the full 25 foot. I thought of this after I ordered last night.
You can leave one of the sections not extended.
wish you could use this with a Buddihex
Now I'm curious on that radio set up. Looked like a 7100 in an Apache case?
I linked it in the cards. It’s here. ua-cam.com/video/0_TD1rU2Aco/v-deo.html
i DID NOT FIND 50 FEET MAST FOR THIS KIND OF DESIGN. Where is it? Thank you.
The maximum we've is 25'.
I've got a US Army 25' mast
Hell yeah
Random but did you keep your xterra ?
I still have it.
What would you think about putting a BuddiHEX on it?
The issue wouldn't be the weight, it would be wind load from my POV.
not a cam lock
🥰👍
Hearing that pileup on 10 gives me the warm fuzzies! ♡
Well most of us pay for the quality. 🤣

So now we're boycotting states in our own country based on our political biases. Got it.
Chameleon is in Sparks, Nevada. They also give discounts to military, veterans, law enforcement, and front-line emergency services personnel.
Only the top mast section is made in Santa Ana for the mast. I didn't think this needed to get political :(
@Ham Radio Crash Course it's not political. It's economics. The costs to manufacture in California is absurd.
