Wow! You are awesome! I will NEVER complain about doing boat work again after watching the work you did without fuss or muss in this episode. My hero! 🇨🇦
Well done Beau, love it when you have a job to do it’s done properly no skimping only one way to do it the right way! Nothing tends to faze you , that was a massive achievement I’m sure it’ll be a great success, can’t praise you enough, well done on the filming and editing Brandy you’re a great team, looking forward to the next episode, 🇬🇧Graham
He sure is amazing right?! Just so you know, he is like this every day, no job too big. I am a lucky gal!
Boy that was quite the process. Start one thing and then and another problem pops up. Same here, a 15 minute job always turns into a 3 hour job 🤣
@@rangerbull EVERY SINGLE TIME
Beau looks like he works for SpaceX in his suit ...you amaze me how you fix everything yourself...work well done...hope you and Brandy are enjoying your free time 😃😎
Did we know that beau is actually an aerospace engineer 🤩 smart, good looking and a hard worker. I’m a lucky gal 😍
You are real life, baby. Great job on the editing.
We put so much work into our videos, so thanks for noticing!
Beau, you are a MONSTER! Not only were you able to physically do all that modification and adaption work by yourself, you have the knowledge to do everything the right way. I was impressed long ago when you adapted the batteries from a Chey Volt and turned your boat into an electric sailboat and again when you recently removed the mast while tied up to a friend's dock! And I can't forget when your boat developed a hole in the hull while underway and you luckily were able to use some underwater epoxy that was given to you by some God-sent fishermen to patch the hole and save your boat! You could teach a class in how to maintain a sailboat. May you have blue skies and fair winds.
I love reading these praises for beau! He is a humble as they come and seriously NEVER complains doing these jobs! What a guy, I’m so lucky to have him 😍 thanks for recognizing his hard work!!
Jesus Christ, Beau, that was - what? - two years worth of work in one 30 minute video? You're a beast!
haha, pretty much felt like it. at least a month and a half.
Hang on… surely the prop will only feather if you can lock the shaft, which you say you couldn’t do before and if you leave the motor engaged in the hope of generating any regen will the load not act as a partial brake causing the prop to partially feather and stop spinning? PLUS, did anyone workout the additional loads that prop is going to put on the system, it’s a lot larger than the original and going to put a lot. Lee load in n the system. With a conventional diesel you can’t just go from a two bladed egg beater to a massive three blade prop without taking into consideration the power output of the engine. Other than that, great work with the modifications.
Beau... you are a true Bad-Ass!!!! Great watching and learning from you!
Keep an eye on battery and motor temps the first few faster/longer runs. I guess reducing rpm for desired knots will solve most of that problem.
Beau that was a 5 cases of beer job, in that tight space the heat way to go great job.
Y’all are so amazing!!! Love Y’all, and y’all deserves it for sure to have all of us learning and living from y’all!!! Beau your awesome bro!!!
Thank you SO MUCH, that’s so sweet of you to say. And we appreciate you being here, love seeing your comments!
Amazing job!! But I'm not surprised...your work always comes out great!!✌️💜
Well we all wait in anticipation to see how this improves the thrust and such , and brilliant if you can get some re gen out of it , brilliant !
We are REALLY hoping so, regen is that missing piece!
I think going that far I would have glassed a tube in with supports that goes above the water line eliminating the need for a stuffing box
That was one big wrench, Beau! Nice job. 😎🥰😎🥰😎
Hahaha. I know there is trouble when the BIG BOY wench comes out 🤣😂
Well done, Beau...shows that you've put a lot of thought into that project. 2 thumbs up!
Thanks!
@9:40 WOW! now that is one job i would be really scared to do. well done.
In terms of percentage how much surface area of the rubber was removed? Do you anticipate loss of rudder performance as a result?
Beau your quite the hammer when it cones to working on The boat great job. Enjoyed the video
Never had a sentence been more true! Nothing stops this guy! 🔨
Thanks guys , really enjoyed watching your home Reno! One thing after the next , keep up the hard work Beau your glass work is great.
Thanks!! It been years of practice 😂 can’t WAIT to get back in the water
Happy Thanksgiving ❤🎉😊
Happy Thanksgiving to you too! 🦃
No zinc in broze, then it is brass. And the correct brass is a quite good material. I have removed 110 year old brass keel bolts, the were in full reusable condition. Quite a job, impressed!
Maybe add a bit of material to the back of the rudder, to compensate for the cut-out material?
This is a great edit, thanks for the effort! Professor Beau is really informative. 🤓
Professor Beau is a gem! 😍 hardest worker of the year!
This is a very good video about propeller and fiberglass repair work. Thanks, Richard
Thanks so much!
Enjoy your show , low key relaxed sailing . Not like some sky is falling every 5 minutes show. Wow keeping an old boat alive is allot of work . I feel some hang onto their old boat too long as fiberglass does not last forever. I feel you are over propped for your motor
Thanks! We had the experts tell us what prop size we needed, so I think we should be ok. Can’t wait to get her in the water to test it out!
Melon suit - Good One, also good tip on using Vaseline !
23:39. Nice camera work! ❤
It's time for a new Boat,
Nah. We have fun with this gal. 😊
I love y’all’s approach to problem solving and how you describe what you’re doing. Fair winds friends! Maybe we’ll cross wakes someday!
Thanks so much! You never know, this sailing world is a small one ⛵️⛵️
I believe that is a high thrust prop, which gives you more push, nice upgrade. Beau, your abilities, skills and thoroughness is impressive. Nice Job.
Absolutely crushing this project, Beau!
With much help from you all!!
Love that new prop!!! Kindest regards and a Happy New Year to two! Craig, Shelley, & Hayden!
I’m surprised the prop shaft doesn’t have a cutlass bearing or at least it doesn’t look like it has one great work guys
Big job, and looks great! I do have one question and that is are you at all concerned about the reduction in rudder surface area and what that might do to helm response, particularly when beating to windward in a fresh breeze?
Beau you're a beast. Great work. Love this episode.
Wow!! I Don't think I would take on a job like that. Incredible work.
Thanks for working through the repair details Beau. Nicely done and appreciated.
Thanks you!
We learn soooo much from your videos. Looking forward to a post-install performance video.
You and us both!! 💨⛵️
Luv my A/B prop.
They are GREAT to work with!
Yuck! Who would ever get themself into such a boat project... 😉 can't wait to see how it turns out looking great so far!
Lots of hard work! Good job!😊
Love you guys! What a BIG job. Be well. ❤
When Beau was talking about covering himself in Vaseline. I was waiting for the cut from the movie striptease with Demi Moore where Burt Reynolds played the crazy congressman.
I AM DYING! gonna have to get him and watch this, I can only imagine 😂🤣😂🤣
You guys are amazing
Love the work …
Oh my this looks like an interesting project 🤗👍⛵😊🇺🇸
Swap the Vaseline for talcom powder, stops most of the itch without feeling greasy
How does it work against the sweat? Inside the suit, it’s like a swimming pool 😬
@BeauAndBrandy it can get kinda slimy if you cake it on then sweat(not as slimy as vasoline), I never really bothered with the suits unless I was doing confined spaces and then they would just tear and let the dust in anyway lol. basically rub it in and brush off the loose stuff then you should be sweet to go
@ thanks!
Great job!
You need a scba full face. Game changer
Yes!
That is not a lot of rudder left.
Nice job Beau! Very thorough. Built not bought!
Thanks!! I'm SO happy with how it turned out!
Good job Beau. 👍 fun for me video. lol 😆
Wow! That was a LOT of work!! 🤗💞
Awesome job guys!
Hi Guys, You two are an awesome couple. Congratulations. What a stunning job. How long does all this take you? As a non sailer I can only begin to appreciate all the hard work you both do to your sailboat.😀
This took weeks of planning and execution. It’s a lot of work in very hot weather. (But he didn’t complain once)
@@BeauAndBrandy Reminds me of my younger years when those kinds of jobs were a breese. I think you are both amazing people. Love your weekly videos.
Hi Beau and Brandy , will you have to extend the router seeing you’re taking a big chunk out , or will it be okay? , anyway you know what you’re doing on Monday are you what are you keep up the good work always enjoy the videos , Cliff from Australia 🇦🇺
WOW, amazing job!!!
Thank you!
well explained
Hey Beau, I was just going thru UA-cam and found another boat with the name as yours. They are located in South Africa
Boat projects are mostly fun, lol.
Question. When upgrading from a small 2 blade to a much larger 3 blade, what are the compounded forces on the drive shaft an bearings, plus the transmissing that most likely was engineered for the forces of that smaller 2 blade prop? 😳
Great video
here's hoping you get some regen power back out of this effort beyond the fact that it needed doing. Nice work, dood.
That rudder already looked undersized before you started
Hey Beau! Greetings from Dunedin! Great work!! Are you using Anti-seize on your bolts when you put them back on? Makes things much easier and efficient when you have to take them back off or adjust! They have aluminum and copper based which is for stainless and rates at higher temps. Make sure you use the correct one for the metal.
Long time mechanic and always use it here especially being so close to the Gulf. Salt is always in the air. It’s messy most of the time but you will never have an issue getting a nut off a bolt.
Those Ryobi battery powered tools are awesome. I think I have close to every one of them.
impact screwdrivers are great generally, but they are the ONLY way to deal with stuck flathead screws. Flathead screws are absolutely no fun when stuck.
You're working on an elderly boat, me on elderly houses. There's no time better than while doing a major necessary repair to go on and fix all the permanent "temporary" repairs .😆.
I literally LOLed when you said "couple day repair.
Get 3/8" to 3/4" flat bits and grind them square at the bottom. They fit in the cordless drill and do a good job on bigger flathead screws.
Hahahaha, wishful thinking. 🤣
Makes me SOOOO nervous
What is that grey material you put on after 1st layer of fiberglass? Looks like clay?
Thicken epoxy.
Oh cool. Just looked very grey. Thats some thickened epoxy..like modelling clay
That prop website was like OF to me. 😎
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
No drag on the new prop..but I'm guessing no regen either? Or how does that work? Edit...I asked this question just before you answered it lol...but I'll leave the question here for the analytics
Did you not have regen with your old prop?
The Bronze shoe is too pink . Good sign it is scrap , just like the stuffing box . That spot where the anode is missing might be your problem .
With the prop on is there room for the Anod ?
Nice new Prop, install another story, allways something new to deal with.
One job = more. Best Luck, Looking like you got this !
🇨🇦Cdn. Dave🇨🇦
Yup ,I’m still here !
Prop has anode cone i believe@@davidperham897
nice work , how is the bathroom remodel holding up ???
Perfectly!! 😍
Top job just getting in there doing, what had to be done to fit the rear. propeller bearing in or was it cut shorter ?
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I assume Brandy was working on her tan for this episode??
I was waiting for this comment. 😒 yes… working on my tan. OR building solar shades, one of the two. 😝
😎
The proverbial can of worms showed up! Hopefully you at the end of this project now.
Veryyyy close.
👍
Nice work on the rudder, and prop assemblies, very entertaining to watch, but I wouldn't want to do it. To me fiberglassing is the grossest job there is, you make it look easy, but I know it isn't.
Appreciate that! Yah it’s not the best job, but thankful we had loads of practice now 😂
You looked like Darth Vader when you came out !!!
🤣😂
Luke I am your father🙄
Heyyyy
hey!
Gutsy modification, hopefully this new prop will be more efficient with the linear power delivery of the electric motor.
We sure hope so! Can’t wait to test it out on our next big trip, but we are pretty confident it’s gonna be NICE!
Baby powder instead of Vaseline
Maybe that part was exposed to californication😮
Did you cut off the end of your stern tube that had the grub screw to hold the cutlass bearing in place?
Didn't you guys just do a bunch of work like the new shower and what not
Yep. Last year in July/Aug. typically hurricane season is upgrade the boat time 😜
@@BeauAndBrandy I see like they say bust out another thousand lol
That's a lot of tedious, uncomfortable work!
It's definitely not the easiest job, but worth it!
I dont think thats a good idea you are loosing your strength cutting that much off your cutlass bearing for your shaft i have built boat for 11 yrs u need all that cutlass for stability of the shaft if not u will have tons of vibration and it will wear out really fast fyi.
