- Singapore’s eighth President Halimah Yacob reflects on the defining moments of her six years in office, from unlocking past reserves, to advocating for causes close to her heart.
She is Singapore’s first female president, another groundbreaking moment in a career of firsts, as the Malay female MP and the first female Speaker of Parliament. During her six years in office, the President highlighted issues that were of special interest to her, like the needs of people who are marginalised and vulnerable. Her support for people with disabilities brought much needed attention to the community. Because of COVID-19, she assented to using past reserves, to prop up the economy. The documentary showcases her numerous charitable activities, her state visits and other ceremonial roles. Besides an interview with the President, several distinguished people share their views and observations of President Halimah Yacob.

As a result of the manner in which she “won” the job, there will always be speculation that she did not get it by pure merit alone. For her then to speak of meritocracy renders the whole thing unconvincing.

I’ve lived and traveled and thanks to our education I am able to speak 5 languages and able to promote my country overseas. Now now, let's not over glorify her. Yes she is an outstanding individual who is extremely outspoken and professional. But let's be clear here, she was GIVEN the Presidency. Meaning to say there could have been better qualified individuals could have been president. Thankfully she was decent as President, but can you imagine if we had given the Presidency to someone who is not as qualified, only on the basis that that individual is from the minority race? Giving handouts is not what we do. You gotta earn your keep.

She is the president for everyone in Singapore. She has done her job very well. Not all people can be president and only the chosen one can be. All the 5 previous presidents were not elected via public voting as well except Ong Teng Cheong and Tony Tan and all of them related to the pap before becoming president.
Halimah chose to retired because she knew well under real election she wouldn't able to be a president again.
Madam Halimah is already 69 years old so it is about time for her to retire.

So what some of us flourished with the MOST PAP government. Put another government in place we go back to the swampland. Maybe you and your low-life kind belongs there. I am happy with what they have given I have a home and enough time travel with my red passport. An efficient transport system and safe and security.. that’s I want for my children and one of the best education systems in the world.
