I just picked up an ebike secondhand and despite being born and raised in San Diego, I'm completely ignorant as to where all the great bike trails are. Your channel is AMAZING! Literally every trail I've been bookmarking, you've covered with a video which is such a nice way to be intro'd to the area. Thank you for all of your efforts with your videos, I really appreciate them!
Thank you so much for the comment! I’m glad I can help by sharing these videos. Im hoping to release a lot more videos in SD in time so look out for that! The bayshore bikeway is a personal favorite for me!
My wife and I have ridden this loop dozens of times, almost always getting a free ferry ride with "commuter tickets". I believe you put a lot more energy into making the video than you expended riding the loop. It's interesting to see this ride from a different perspective. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Thanks Andrew. Excellent job on this. I appreciate that you point out the shitty parts of the ride (e.g., the noisy freeways nearby, headwinds.) and not just provide glamour Instagram-worthy content. I've done a lot of riding in San Diego and am honestly disappointed with the class 1 trails available in the area, given the tremendous potential and ideal cycling climate. Looking good in that new TOSC gear!
Thanks a lot for the comment CalKidWilly! I’ll keep making videos in this way! I also wish SD had a more developed Class I network. It has a few gems throughout but it’s not connected very well like it is in OC. There are some good projects taking place around the county like the expanded coastal rail trail. So maybe one day soon it’ll improve! I really appreciate the feedback!
The Bayshore Bikeway has been greatly improved since my wife and I started riding it but the homeless encampment along Market Street is out of control. My inclination, if I record a video of this ride, would be to not include this section but perhaps that wouldn't qualify as journalistic integrity :-)
Thanks for the great video! My daughter and I just got ebikes and have been having a blast exploring bike paths in San Diego! We just did the San Luis Rey Trail in Oceanside. You should do a video on it!!!
Well done Andrew- a great way to see SanDiego. Loved it when you went by the Coronado golf course. I got to play it once. Not sure if your just staying in California, but have you ever done the Iowa ride (RAGBRAI) ??? Leave on Sunday ends on Saturday. Other than being in Iowa it is a lot of fun.😊. Great towns, great people- it’s been around a long time-
Nice video. My wife and I did this ride years ago on a tandem. The east side looks like newer bike trails- when we went, all they had were regular roads through the industrial area.
Yes! There are new trail developments on the city side. Some aren’t even searchable on google maps yet. Unfortunately, 2/3 of the Bikeway on that side is still regular roads and class II lanes. But it’s improving! Thanks for watching jmcbike 👏
I've attempted this loop twice on my ebike, once I had some electronic issues with my bike (my fault, since I built it myself) and the 2nd time I got a flat half way up the strand. I'm currently building a new bike though and plan on completing the loop this summer.
Getting a flat that ruins your ride is the worst thing to happen! Hope you get out there to see it! Third time is a charm! Let us know when you do make it, good luck!
man I just discovered your channel. I'm surprised because i feel like you should have at least (way more)10,000 plus subscribers. Great great job on everything. I ride an e-scooter and I appreciate seeing the rides before I venture myself out there lol. I even let almost all the ads run all the way just to show my support haha keep up the good work my friend 👍🏽
Wow, thank you so much friend! I definitely could promote the channel harder. That's an area that I lack in. So I really do appreciate you watching the videos in full and even playing ads! Above and beyond! With a little more support I should be able to release more SD videos soon!
Great question! It’s a little hard for me to say because I take a lot of extra time setting up camera shots n such for these videos. But! If I’m guessing the entire loop would be a little over 2 hours if you don’t stop riding. At an average pace. Inc. 30 min or so extra to complete the ferry crossover from Coronado to DT. Hope that helps!
There has been a growing issue with pedestrians on the bikeway. Ok, we can share, although it's a bikeway and its meant for bikes, but if you are going to walk on the bikeway, please move to the side when there is a bike coming up behind you. Sometimes, I've seen people walking in 3's and they refuse to move and take up both lanes
I sure wish I’d watched your video before I first rode on the bikeway. I ended up parking in the wrong place and had to travel through some very sketchy homeless encampments.
That spot at the bikeway village is perfect to park at! The spots are a little limited so arrive early. Street parking is also available in the area. And yes, you can ride the entire route with direct access from where you park. Have fun!
Honestly, I completely forgot my mask was still on after the ferry ride. I realized that after I got back to edit 😄 I know it’s no longer necessary when outdoors. I would love to go back on a weekday or just slow time of year!
I would love to try this one. The ebike is a great suggestion.
Thanks for latest video on Bayshore Bikeway. I like all of the additional commentary. Well done. Looking forward to next video.
Great ride, thanks for showing us the way!

Great video! Such a beautiful ride. Thank you for showing us another amazing bike route! Well done!
That was awesome. It was very informative and will have to ride it when I visit San Diego
Yay!
What a beautiful area to bike around!
i just rode the BBikeway path loop this afternoon - always a great experience.

The San Luis Rey trail is a personal favorite of mine! I have an overview video of it on the channel that I put out last year! Check it out!
We did that ride on our Rad Power bikes in December 2022. We had a great sunny day. Coronado was absolutely beautiful and The Del was a must see.

I am considering including some content outside of SouthernCal. I know about RAGBRAI! It looks like a lot of fun. One day I’ll get myself out there!

Great video! I'm from Rhode Island and needed some input!! DD
Let me know if you need any other suggestions!

Thank you for recommending this!! Where did you rent an e-bike
Thanks for watching! Rental is from “2 wheels cycling boutique”

@@TrailsofCalifornia We all appreciate your work
thank you :)
How long was the ride time wise, start to finish?
Great question! It’s a little hard for me to say because I take a lot of extra time setting up camera shots n such for these videos.

This is awesome! I'm looking for more bike paths in San Diego that is fairly flat. Do you know of any others?
Check out the San Luis Rey bike path in Oceanside!
@@TrailsofCalifornia Nice man! I see you have a video on that.

E Bike? I just did this on my regular mountain bike. Ferry too but parked and started finished in Chula Vista. Same ride tho
Nice one! There’s been a lot of great class I development on the east side (city side) of this bikeway. Hope you had a great time!
Can I park there at Bikeway Village or is there a parking lot nearby where I can leave my car and ride the entire route?
That spot at the bikeway village is perfect to park at! The spots are a little limited so arrive early. Street parking is also available in the area. And yes, you can ride the entire route with direct access from where you park. Have fun!
@@TrailsofCalifornia Great!, thanks for the information 😃
do you have the strava route for this? Thanks
I’ll work on including that!
www.strava.com/routes/2866171023822669846
First
Link for the route is not working?
I’ll try to figure out why that’s happened. Thanks for letting me know!
How much is the ferry?
I believe it was about $7 for the one-way crossing!
We did part of it last week. Beautiful. Not crowded then. Take off the dang mask. You are out in the fresh air!
Honestly, I completely forgot my mask was still on after the ferry ride. I realized that after I got back to edit 😄 I know it’s no longer necessary when outdoors.

Fully vaccinated, yet wearing a mask outside on a bike with no one around. California.
With all the mustard seed weeds in full bloom, it could be allergies.
