Just wanted to say thank you for this. I've never assembled anything besides a chair and bookshelf, and I know that without this video, I would've been so lost making this bed (alone) and it would've taken me 3x times as much time to put together. The ikea instructions looked like gibberish to me lol, so thank you!
Thank you so much for this video!! I watched your video before I bought the bed frame and throughout building it. The IKEA instructions were terrible. This tutorial was much needed. Took me 2.5h and required an extra set of hands. Used a hammer and a drill. Note: For anyone buying this bed frame, IKEA provides black cornered stoppers instead of the white/transparent ones shown in the video. I recommend drilling the stoppers before attaching the middle beam to the bed frame.
I would not have attempted this assembly if I hadn't watched your very clear instructions before buying the bed. All worked out much more smoothly than I anticipated with ONE notable exception. The hardware that aligns the slatted bed base has changed since you made this video: it is no longer a simple cone shape and, because Ikea did not move the holes in the side and center supports, you can't tighten them down by twisting the plastic parts from on top.The horrible IKEA instructions have you put down the slats THEN the hardware, which is absurd. It would have been SO easy to attach them to the metal rail before the rails were installed!! One other improvement would be to attach the centerpiece brackets to the head and foot when they are lying flat, before they are assembled. That said, your video was so clear and easy to follow: thank you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! This video was beyond helpful! I was so intimidated by building this and have very little building skills and almost did a Task Rabbit for it but thought I'd give it a shot and this video saved me. Very clear instructions and not complicated just takes a little time but not too bad. I also did it all with out a drill and just screen drivers and hammers so if you're wondering about what tools you need those worked for me!
Lady here with a back done in already by a bent bed and end of life mattress, having to go it alone tommorow if I have any chance of recovery! So glad for your guidance, especially the recommendation for the mattress height… no one wants to make the wrong choice at that stage and have to take it apart. Wish me luck
Thank you so much! I just finished assembling it. Once I saw your tutorial it gave me the confidence to build it and now I am just laying on the bed, feeling a sense of achievement. :-)
I can't like this enough. You saved many hours of my life, which I would have spent building this bed if I followed Ikea booklet (which you rightly threw in the beginning :D ). Very well made video, very clear descriptions and steps. Even though my bed's last few steps differed but I could easily manage due to understanding developed from this video. Wonderful. Thanks.
Thank you so much for these instructions, everything is straight to the point and easy to understand. I‘m picking my bed up tomorrow and I was a little concerned how I‘m gonna do it my myself, but now I feel confident!
I've built IKEA stuff before but was really concerned about assembling a bed. This video really helped, thanks! You're right though, the last few screws with the rails are hard and I'm not sure if I got it 100% right.
Can I use a metal slats instead of the wooden slats? I don't trust wooden slats, they seem flimsy compared to my current metal slats frame but the metal support that comes with the mattress seem weak too
17:16 Just wanted to mention that you could use a hammer to loosen the rails by tapping on the sides gently before pulling it open. I found it to be much more helpful than the pliers, especially for a woman.
@@higbeenoob8747 are you hammering on the ends (the tips where the screws are) or the long sides(no screwing involved)? Because that's where I hammered and it worked.... Maybe you need to hammer a little bit harder and pull the tips a couple of times for it to work.
If you know what you doing around 2.5h/3h. If you new to this 5h is good time. But is not question of the time just take it easy this one is not to easy to put together just focus slowly step by step take your time.
Here is what I found for SONGESAND Bed frame with 2 storage boxes, white/Luröy, price £219. The price for this combination includes SKORVA midbeam, but it is a separate product which you pick from its own shelf at the store. If you buy the bed via the website, SKORVA midbeam is included in the delivery
9:23 does anyone know the part number/name of the nut that comes pre-installed on the headboard and footboard? Mine fell out and it's squeaky as hell, trying to repair.
for anyone in the future, its mostly the same but it is recommended to insert the 4 ends before you tighten the wheel-like contraptions, those things have a tendency to get stuck. Also to hold the wodden planks they now give you 4 black pegs to hold them together
Thanks for the video! Is it possible to switch the placement of the drawers? So the bigger drawer goes towards the foot of the bed instead of at the head of the bed?
Hi mate, im about to assemble an IKEA Malm double bed frame, is it ok to assemble with manual (non-electric) screwdrivers or does it make it difficult?

Is this bed sturdy? The slats look kinda flimsy. Will two adults on this bed break them? Will they break with a lot of movement on them?
Thank you, now off to pit together the Leirsund...140*200.
Thank you so much❤
Hi! I just bought my bed in the full size. Do you think a 14” mattress will be fine for this frame?
17:16 Just wanted to mention that you could use a hammer to loosen the rails by tapping on the sides gently before pulling it open. I found it to be much more helpful than the pliers, especially for a woman.
Which end
@@higbeenoob8747 just the sides. like how you loosen the cover of a jar that's hard to open. :)
Still doesn’t work

Once you hammer those plugs in @1:33, Are they easy to take out when you want to disassemble the bed?
i found it pretty easy to disassemble
You don't have to hammer them in, you just need to push them down a bit as the other half will be put into the other elements
Thank you friend!!
Wow thank You!helped me out a lot
Thank you soo muchhh ❤
Très pratique bien expliqué
Helpful vid

I didn’t get the wooden parts or the middle parts in my bed frame. Was I supposed to get it????

can i still make this SONGESAND bed without the bedframe? can I leave the bedframe out?
make sure to mention at 4:16 minutes , those 6 holes are important, as these are used to holed the middle section, I did not check that.
Its been 2years how is it now??
for anyone in the future, its mostly the same but it is recommended to insert the 4 ends before you tighten the wheel-like contraptions, those things have a tendency to get stuck.
Also to hold the wodden planks they now give you 4 black pegs to hold them together
Mine did not have instructions in it so thanks for making this video
Glad it worked
Thanks for the video! Is it possible to switch the placement of the drawers? So the bigger drawer goes towards the foot of the bed instead of at the head of the bed?
The drawers aren't attached or connected to the bed, they just roll on wheels. So, you can just place them wherever you want.
@@chrisstaub5880 Great! Thank you!

is the small electric screw driver enough or do I also need the big one ?
Small one is fine but big one have multiple functions and battery last much longer
