Hubert H Humphrey was a decent, kind, honest man. He was a genuine man who cared about the poor but he didn't play the class warfare themes common today. If it wasn't for his connection to LBJ, he would have been elected in 1968 instead of Nixon.
@@redjirachi1 Probably not, remember that in real life when RFK and Muskie were busy battling each other in the primaries, Humphrey was busy gathering delegates in states that did not hold primaries. So even if RFK lived, I do not think he would win ths primary because delegates from states that did not hold primaries would still vote for Humphrey.
@lawrence142002 Actually Humphrey and Goldwater, despite disagreeing on pretty much everything, were actually friends and respected each other's integrity.
The 38th vice president Hubert Horatio Humphrey Jr knows the 36th president Lyndon Baines Johnson for 16 years even the 35th president John Fitzgerald Kennedys wisdom
Humphrey at the very least liked Kennedy more than other Democrats did. I was watching the 1960 DNC and the camera took shots of Aldai Stevenson, Lynden Johnson and Humphrey. Stevenson was pretty unenthusiastic, Johnson seemed outright angry (despite being the goddamn Vice Presidential candidate) and Humphrey was actually enjoying it. He clapped enthusiastically whereas Stevenson and Johnson didn't clap at all and was very happy.
Alot of this tuff is bunk.Humphrey wants us to believe that he loved Kennedy, when we know he thought Kennedy stole west virginia. LOL when RFK gives one clap to the mention of LBJ's name.

You think he may have ran in 1968 even if Kennedy lives
@@redjirachi1 He was already running even before RFK died
@@navaladmiral2962 I guess I mean do you think he'd still win the nomination if Bobby lived

Humphrey deserved the nomination after the amazing work he did getting the Civil Right Act of 1964 passed.
Bro..
😊
In my school, there is a boy named Eddie who is in my class, and he is a hige fan of Hubert Humphrey.
God bless Hubert Horatio Humphrey... A humanist warrior, a warrior for the poor, the weak and the oppressed...
Could have been a great president.

I like Hubert Horatio Humphrey Jr under Presidents John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Lyndon banies Johnson
Also, in regard to Hubert and JFK. JFK liked some of Hubert's ideas (i.e. the Peace Corps) and ended up using them.
@JMKeane2002TW You must be lucky in meeting him , Sir .
@toddsmitts
I'm aware of this. It doesn't change my opinion that it was the best part of the speech, especially when the crowd went along with him.

President Johnson missed out on a great opportunity to have a great Vice President in Hubert Humphrey. Who he mistreated and underused.
He sounds a bit like Harry Truman.

That's like saying Ford could have been elected, if not for his connnection to Nixon. True but pointless.
