Brain Tumor and Hydrocephalus | Adam's Story

Seeing this video makes me cry as my nephew recently diagnosed with brain tumor causing obstructed hydrocephalus. Already admitted in government hospital here in Cebu Philippines, but still no available neurosurgeon.

So happy for you! I chose to do Gamma Knife radiation on my brain tumor. Unfortunately something broke off the tumor and blocked the ventricles. I had to have emergency surgery to relieve the pressure....that surgeon wasn’t my normal neurosurgeon and he cut my hearing nerve on that side. The tumor ended up doubling in size, which it shouldn’t have with gamma knife. I had a repeated problem with shunt failures (6 brain surgeries in 9 months! Plus a second gamma knife! I’ve been out of the hospital for a year and started having problems again. It’s great to hear others success stories!

I hope you are doing well. I had a meningioma removed in feb but still feel a lot of pressure on top of my head. My doc says everything looks ok, i hope this is normal two months post op

@@mattscott6591 don' t worry. I was scared and worried, I searched the forums for answers because none of the neurosurgeons could tell me how long recovery would take after VP shunt surgery. I had dizziness, hangover for almost 6 months, and vision problem. It was hard for me to get up for 3 months. I have been fine for the last 3 months

My mother lived to 47 until she suddenly passed due to obstructive hydrocephalus due to colloid cyst in the third ventricle, with no diagnosis ever. Deteriorated rapidly in a day. Hydrocephalus is no joke

hello. My son is 20 had 3rd ventriculostomy last Sept due to his tumor that’s he still has. hydrocephalus is gone and spinal tap says fluid is normal but can’t relieve the pressure headaches. Did you experience that as well..if so how did you find relief from it? Appreciate any feedback and thank you for sharing your story.

hello glad to know your son's hydrocephalus is completely gone. I was diagnosed with hydrocephalus at age 12 and was put a vpshunt and it worked for 27 yeaers and at age 39 it stopped working and had to be replaced and I have been having debilitating headaches since and I have been placed on antiseizure medications. Headaches are hard to deal with

Me too. I have VP shunt to reduce hidrocephalus, but gama knife will reduce tumor within 2-3 years

One all started when I woke up deaf on one side, ants h the found the tumor. Then part of the tumor broke off and caused the hydrocephalus…the main symptom on that was headache like ice picks and uncontrollable throwing up!

I had a baseball sized meningioma removed feb 1 2022. I feel a lot of pressure in my head and throbbing & i can also see in the mirror my head throbbing. Is this normal? I have had scans mri and c-t and my doctor says it looks normal and everything is going fine

Hi Matt, my wife fell poorly in Feb 2021 and found 3 meningiomas. After craniotomy surgery to remove 2 and debulk the third life resume and the Dr said no to radiotherapy. A scan in Aug 2022 found the tumour has grown, but at the last minute, he postponed surgery to debulk it again.
We went to a private specialist who said she should have had radiotherapy and the tumour most likely would not have recured which means it has and has caused the hydro'. She is going in for immediate surgery to have a shunt put in and then radiotherapy afterwards.
