  • In this episode we fabricate a new RHD steering column surround by copying the LHD plastic piece and make jigsaw for the RHD one.
Throughout the project we will build tools to help us along the way, the custom tools we build, we will upload our how-to videos

Excellent work Dave! You are giving Fab Rats and Matts Off Road Recovery a run for their money even though they have all the tools. Like an old school maker of knights armour.

Smashing job Dave. I think I might have tried making the shroud out of ally plate, glued and filled, then painted. But what a success you made of it in steel. Magic.

Tune in next time when Dave realises that having turned a left hand drive piece of plastic into right hand drive metal, that he's on the verge of being able to build the first right hand drive Corvette without using any fibreglass! Great work Dave, just love your attitude to an apparently complex problem. Thanks.

P.P.S, not sure if this info helps, but when we spray plastic at our garage we tend to use "mpex stonechip" ,its a black aerosol with pink band top and bottom. You can achieve as much or as little stippled affect as you require and its fine on plastic and sets hard like normal paint whereas tetroseal stone chip tends to feel "rubbery" even when its dry. Hope thats helpfull

Blimey Dave you have some amazing metalwork skills that’s a seriously awkward shape to make and you made it look easy lol you’d never know the difference either ! The only difference being a positive as those old plastic ones rattles and creak but the metal one won’t so winner winner 👌 impressive job mate enjoyed the vid 👍
