i just done my garage door, 2 rolls of 600mm wrap and foil tape, £51. only needed a small part of the 2nd roll. I can feel the differnce in temp nearly straight away. when starting it was 10.5 degrees, and ok the days now in later 3 days are a bit warmer, the garage internal is 15.1 degrees now for 3 days straight. a worthwhile improvement Id say.
Great video, i appreciate the details. I have an up and over garage door, I'm struggling to come up with a good way of sealing the gaps down the sides of the door. Between the door and brickwork.
Thanks for the kind feedback. If the gap isn’t to big, have you considered something like a rubber strip that you could superglue to the frame? Also remember you do need to have the space ventilated if you plan on having it as a living space 👍👍
Thanks Colin, really impressed with that Thermawrap, works a lot better than it looks! And thanks about the disclaimer comment. A lot of thought went into producing this video. Brilliant job and very informative. Never thought of this before, but you have provided a perfect solution for the door on my mini workshop and the garage door on my son’s ‘man cave’ we are constructing. Many thank for the inspiration.👍🏻
Thanks again Kevin. I was just speaking to my brother yesterday and asked him how it was holding up as the NW of England is proper cold at the minute. He was being genuine and said it is performing really well, he just uses the heater for 15mins in the morning and it warms the room / garage up and it holds the heat👍. Since I’ve done it they’ve had a door knocked in from the house so he’s driven a big wedge in the gap at the top between the door and frame. Really happy that it worked out well for them😀👍

I was doing up my garage on the cheap and for the door I just used 25mm polystyrene which did make a difference. Instead of that massive slab of freezing metal, I've got room temp polystyrene now. I was worried about weight so I've not hung anything on it, just stuck a poster over it. The rest of the garage is prefab concrete slabs but I've filled the voids with 25mm polystyrene and clad it with a load of 18mm plywood I got for free which is brilliant because it's so easy to hang stuff from. I put 50mm polystyrene between the roof rafters and clad that with some OSB. The concrete floor has been covered up by a load of these used rubber backed carpet mats. The whole thing went really well and I'm so glad I did it now. Because I've got a young family I needed to keep it cheap with it basically being my play room.
