A lost jewel among german music of that era. This is one of my favorite songs. Thx for sharing it. Cosa Rosa was blessed with unique talent for keyboards, composing and lyrics, a wonderful voice and she was a beauty too. Unfortunately she died of cancer in 1991, only 39 years old. A big loss.
If Cosa Rosa didn´t die in 1991 the career and rise of Nena wouldn´t be the same even when I love many songs of Nena. But Cosa Rosa was quite different and very very special
@ I would say, she could have rised the influence of jazz on german popmusic. She had supporting people around her, not like Julia Neigel. These two had the potential to bring german popmusic to a higher level. One of them died to early, the other was caught in an endless litigation about copyrights (with her own band) which silenced her for 10 years.
I had a dutch friend back in the mid 80's who introduced me to Cosa Rosa and this song in particular. At the time she told me the story and the words of this song but I have forgotten. Can anyone translate this? Thanks!
We were walking downtown at night - Rain and paper scraps - Somebody told us, there's a cool place to stay (Who was it?) We have only tonight We finally found a pub But it was already stifling and crowded Just like every other pub And the woman by the piano was singin' "The most beautyful men in the world live in Berlin and Bielefeld" But we were just in Wuppertal... Perhaps it was just coincidence Suddenly appeared this hand And a voice was whispering through the fog "I own a house in the country, a house in the country" Later you could dance properly, And this night was passing, too, Just like every other night, "You do not have to leave that early, 'Cause everything comes an end finally ", With the same faces, And the same shouts. Perhaps it was just a coincidence, There was always this Intrusive hand, I said through the fog: "Forget your house in the country, Your house in the country, oh, Forget it". Few days later I read something in the newspaper: "A small house is burnt down, oh, Between Wuppertal and Essen, In the countryside"(gasp) This was certainly just a coincidence, This was certainly just a coincidence ...
[Nephew of Ida] You must imagine she would be 66 now (2018). 27 ago, when she died. Sometimes I believe in a plot. So many years have been researched because of cancer and still no success. For my Russian friends in Thailand:

The genre is wrong. This is very clearly jazz/fusion, not pop.
Cosa Rosa was heavily influenced by that, of course. She and her later producer and boyfriend Reinhold Heil met first in a small jazz club.
