I have a few pictures I shot back in 2004. At that time, Pingjianglu were the downtown slums. Indeed it was not touristic at all back then. It is fantastic what they did with this street. But it is more interesting to walk in the back alleys. You would see local people still using wells to get water, and living in poor conditions (though very warm and welcoming).
Ah wow! I bet you have some very interesting pictures. Yeah a lot of the cities here are very developed, so it's nice to go to the countryside sometimes and check out the other way of life

you are in suzhou? you can take a look of 寒山寺，拙政园，留园，ping jiang road,周庄乌镇，虎丘风景区，they are all very good place to visit.
Not there now, but I don't live too far for Suzhou, I will try and visit next time I have some free time 👌
