Years later, happy birthday dear Cathy, and meny more birthdays yet. And....millione thanks for your songs, and music with the Dervish. I like very much Eileen Og. I can't speak Irish, and Irish-English is difficult sometimes to me.
I'm a session fiddle player in Florence Oregon USA on the pacific coast. Nice to hear and see you play. Some of my ancestors came from near where you are.
Okay, so the wonderful, older left-handed fluter is the famous Patsy Hanley. There is some fine old RTE footage of him elsewhere on UA-cam from the 1970s, hosted by Tony Mac Mahon.
the right-handed flute player at 38:00 or so plays John McKenna's Polka and a bit later, with the other (left-handed) fluters, plays the old pulsing style. Lovely old music. Is this fluter Harry Bradley?
I love the part of the session when the guy who can't sing gets up and tries to anyway, and he's old enough to avoid jeers and can pass it off as history. lol. (29:10) That's the time to light up the doojeen.
AN OLd Man. Yu give me hope. I live for irish music. Am i mad. so what ? some p;eople love clacical music, and fair play to them, but my love is trad irish music. I have traveled all over the planet but now and then i hear an IRISH song or tune, and then i am back to my native roscommom where i started out at age 14 as a shopboy at ten bob per week, and the dance halls. We were so thick back then. No opoliges for thes comment. Please excuse my{ miss- sxpellings] I am getting on in yrs, so my c/p tec in not up to date. I would like to hear from any person who has had a similar experience as myself, not likely.? The Hi Tec is fanstiic, but we are loosing the art of handwriting, spelling, etct. It is all anagram. I am staying for now, No option, join this t/k or get lost. THE letters that i recieved in San Francisco many years ago from my uncle in Garda in Co limerick, I love to read them over again. Thoes are very presious to me, as he served with General Sean Mc Keon, the blacksmith from Ballanee Co Longford. Can yu imagine thoes as e-mails.Meanless to me. I have thoes letters which i will pass on to my doughter. I am just a united statizen by concent, due to worrk, no option . Big deal , A badge and a gun. Back to reality. I plan to go IRELAND> CO SLIGO for the music festifal in August, The good lord willing and the creek dont run dry. An ol;d Missouri saying You all take care, and just maybe i make Sligo . If there is an afterlife, I want it to be an eternal Irish session. God, it's a real shame (Or a reel shame, tehe) that there are only two of these.
