2:15 This is my speculation. Base on the opening and the pacing of the anime. I believe it is split into two parts. 12 episodes for part 1 and another 12 episodes for part to with a potential new opening. Again, this is just a theory. A Solo Levelling theory.
Regarding the number of episodes, as far as I know 12 episodes is all that has been officially announced, but enough credible leaks have come out about a second cour of 12 that most people assume it's going to happen.
@@Anne-mn9fs So the most popular leak as far as I've been able to tell says the anime is registered for a 25 episode (02 split cours). Hopefully it ends up being different and its a short break, but the new bleach anime follows a split cour release schedule with the primary difference being the 04 cours rather than 02, which unfortunately most likely means at least a few months of waiting in between both cours. Hopefully I'm wrong or I'm understanding the terminology wrong regarding consecutive and split cours, or maybe there was a translational error in the leaks and rumours, but regardless I think we all hope for a short wait before the anime arises for part 2.
If this anime don't get a season 2 or part 2 of season one then smth is wrong , not only was the Manwha extremely popular, but so far A1 has been om point with the animation
don’t remember if it is even explained that much in the manwha but ranks C - B - A - S is where the gaps are more obvious/wider in strength/magical ability
Please note Luke, that Solo Leveling is a korean manga, not a japanese one. Hence the names of all the characters, like Sung Jin-Woo (the main character). Also note that the manga is in full colour whilst the other Japanese mangas are black & white. Good to know some aspects of manga cultures ;)
I like to think he's High end of D rank at the end of the Snake dungeon. But he put all stats in damage so in theory he can slay low C monsters and i guess that's what the Snake was.
@@avvrah6994 Compared to the party at the dungeon break, i see no magic and no healing from him. Stats alone yeah he's C but if you compare to other hunters he's D in my book. close tho.
It's unconfirmed (I think) but the rumour is that we're getting 12eps 2week 'break' then another 12eps I think it's true thow, not only because the source of the rumour is very reliable so far but also because of the ant scene in ep1, i don't think they would've shown that if it wasn't gonna be a part of this season... And it can only be a part of this season if we get 2parts of 12ep each🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ but idk for sure
I'm not sure if the arc that is related to that scene in ep1 will be covered this season, even if it is 24 episodes. Right now we have 4 episodes and have covered up to chapter 17. That arc you speak of and its aftermath ends at around 110. They have to really rush if they are to cover up to 110 (which is an ideal ending point) in the manhwa. I do really hope it is 2 cours though. Fingers crossed.
Aaaahh yes you're right 🙆🏻♀️🙆🏻♀️ for some reason I thought it happens earlier 😅😆.... Damn I thought I had solid points as to why there'll be 2cours lol.... I really hope that the rumour is true thow and that they keep this pacing....
The thing is that everyone says it's been confirmed. But there are no websites that confirms it. There are plenty of websites that says it's only 12 episodes, but for some reason the hundreds of websites that confirms only 12 episodes isn't valid according to the community.
Or the Ant scene was just a relevant flashback for the setting of the world that can be addressed way later in the series. Plenty of shows do that. Its not necessary to have that ARC be so soon, nor does it make it determined it will happen just because it was shown so early.
One of the things I've always loved about Solo Leveling is that the system is always understandable and the math always adds up. I've read many manga/manhwa/manhua/light novels/web novels where there's a system and it either isn't explained very well, the math doesn't add up, it conflicts with it's own rules, or something else that doesn't make sense that takes me out of the experience. Maybe I'm just a nitpicker, but little details like this are always what I notice in these kind of litRPGs. When a system isn't very systematic, it makes me feel like the author didn't think things through very much. Or maybe they just used a system because it's a popular storytelling element and not because they knew how to use it. Especially since so many of these works were to at least some extent, inspired by Solo Leveling and/or it's success.
This chapter is precisely the one where the leveling gets explained, and we finally see the results. Jin-woo finally starts delving into The System. We get the enemy name color explanation. We see the inventory working.... It sets up the base for The System and how gamelike the story gets in the next few chapters. And most of all, it shows the first effects of those stats in both Jin-woo's confidence and body. That sick knife Jin-woo got is totally broken, and it leads to his signature combat style with dual knives, which he keeps until the end of the story. Also, the glimpses of what is happening with the gate while Jin-woo is busy in his dungeon are a very nice detail. In the original we just get his perspective, but in here it serves to fill in the blanks and provide an awesome context that the world keeps on moving even when he is not around. In Japan The System shows in japanese. In Korea, it shows in korean. And so on.
I think he should be around C grade now? Next one is a vital one in how his developtment truly affect him I couldnt stop laughing when he talked about the sizes. I dont know if it'll be animated in the future, but just thinking the battle/brawl between Jinwoo and Thomas (a S* hunter 3-4 times bigger than Jinwoo').... And I think pretty much everyone (of the high ranking male hunters) are actually taller/bigger than Jinwoo (even after he grew up a head taller)
20:40 Full recovery is a perk he gets from his daily quests. One per daily, if I remember correctly from the last episode. The same thing happened after they first showed him running.
if you remember when they went to retest Jinwoo to see if he reawakened he scored a 10 and they said even E ranks are usually above 100, there is a decent range for each rank, also a hunters stats when they awaken usually sets them into one role they are good at, Jinwoo was implying if both of the D ranks there were damage dealers they could've taken the golem on their own.
For those keeping track at home when he went into the dungeon, after the daily quests, Jinwoo had gone from the weakest E-rank to the border between Low E-rank and Mid E-rank. He is now Mid C-rank.
I think Mr. Kim left that sword for him to fight with when remember he ran away because he wanna see his family and doesn't wanna die and stay at the dungeon with those colossal statues. I'm not sure but I think that was when he got that sword
I think it's a missed opportunity that they didn't include the moment while he was grinding the monkeys and panthers, when he mentions that unlike normal dungeons in this instance the enemies respawn infinitely and he manages to figure out their patterns and esentially spawn kills them for a while to save as much energy and not gain too much fatigue from that. True gamer min-maxing their experience, also showing his strategic side for a bit too. Regardless, top tier episode!
I’d probably say it wasn’t as impactful in their eyes so they just skipped it for the time crunch of basically fitting the most important moments in a 2 part 12 episode first season
There are many more onion layers here. Interface is his own (We had scenes at the hospital with the test and with the sister; second season can talk about interface and power (?), i think, maybe in the end of first). And... you will have some story tricks with abilities
So Luke, no spoiler here, just explaining some things in this episode that were not showed : the blue hue around him when fighting the snake was him activating his skill dash lv 1 (all actions are 30% faster (and yeah activating that skill consumes 30 Mana points or so)). Second thing : yeah he's obviously stronger than most of the people he fought alongside with. I'll state him around D+ rank now, if not C- . Third thing, don't mix up the ranks that are showed on his screen and the ranks used by the society (it's the same letter system used, but they will sometime differ). 4th thing, yeah somehow the population is feeling overly safe, since they are confident with the hunters, and they can't seem to see where lies the dangers around gates anymore (dungeon breaks are a rare occurence and you might feel like you got something to talk back at home if you could see a dungeon break occur with your own eyes) (it's been 10 years since these dungeons appeared). 5th thing : yeah bear with our Jin-Woo, he doesn't want to stand out in society since it could arise some jealousy if some see that he keeps increasing in power in a world were your mana level is stuck at the level you awake it. (same comment as in patreon)
IIRC that wasn't Dash/Sprint since his Agility hasn't reached 30 yet. Though he does have a passive that lets him deal additional damage due to his Strength reaching 30. That said, the aura around him wasn't that but rather the other passive he gained called Willpower which boosts his stats 30% when his HP falls below 30%. Me personally, that was him tapping into something else. The Manhwa had him crackling with this Dark Energy, and that same Dark Energy is used for his unique ability in the future.
Yeah. Wish they would have that at the end of every episode. Still, they’re doing a great job adapting this. But yeah, just a shame they don’t have that. I used to love going through all his stats and abilities.
Just wait, the next episode with no spoiler, we will witness a giga chad transformation This anime is the definition of: "let me do all the side quest first, so i am ready for the boss" The you ebd up just flexing on said boss lol
Yes, all the System text are also translated, I watched this on Japanese. Everything happening to him are just The System and had nothing to do with Power System of their world, it is separate from Ranking and Gates. Basically there are two types of Magic system, The world Gates and Hunters.. Then Sung Jin Woo's Game-like System.
03:24 That's the sword he picked up after everyone else ran away. It was still in his severed hand at the end, so presumably it was put into his inventory.
You can imagine the system he's using is like a system inside their system. What I'm trying to say, thats like when in online games Game Masters and Admins get access to godlike options in games. Killing players, resurrecting them, teleporting them, giving them or taking items from them, spawn creatures, objects, you name it. One thing in common in those admin accounts is that they are all the lowest level in game. Jinwho's power level at this moment translates to be around C tier (he literally one shot the D rank golem) in the world, but for the world's system he still reads as an E rank hunter so if he would take a re-evaulation the machine would not show his real power, because it has no rights to read into the inner system he's leveling in.
So If I recall at Lv 1 in the System his HP was 100 and his MP was 10. And as for the Mana part all skills cost a certain amount of mana to activate but some skills require that plus a MP drain for the duration of the skill, i.e. (5 MP on cast and then 1 Mana per second for durataion of skill)
the zoom out when he says he has gotten a bit stronger and showing the massive snake he took down shows how much of an understatement that is. dude went from get his ass kicked by basic goblins to taking down boss monsters by himself.
So, I feel like part of his speech about being weak is talking about the statue monster. Yes, he saved ppl, but at the end of the day if that statue wanted to annihilate everyone it could have. They had no control. The only thing that can truly guarantee your safety is the strength to defeat threats. You can be as clever as you want etc., but at the end of the day you need to at least be strong enough to takedown threats (of course that can be made easier with cleverness etc. but you still cannot be so weak you cannot scratch your foe).
3:31 episode 2. Kim left the sword behind when he ran away. It is the sword Jinwoo then attempted to fight golems with. Because he had it the systwm assumed it was his.
Season 1 is 24 episode long, first 12 episodes then 2 weeks break , then rest 12 episodes. Same like jjk ,they released first 5 episodes then took 2 week break and then shibuya arc started
Also a hunters rank is determined by there magic level (aka mp), so just because he can kill a giant snake doesn't necessarily mean he will get a higher rank. He will have to first raise his intelligence so he can get more MP.
honestly i think its much better when you can watch full anime in one session because you dont need then patiently wait for every episode. But this joy when the episode is caming out. I readed the manhwa three times now. And anime version is new breath for this universe. I see some information is missed and some is added. For me who readed full story its are new details. I am Hoping for living in the time when solo leveling will be fully anime remaked. ALSO ur reaction for this show is so good. I like how you make your own theory about how it all works. SORRY guys for bad grammar xD
And this is why we all loved the manga! 😁. You won’t find out what his level is until quite a bit later in the series. Maybe end of season one, or somewhere in season 2? You don’t goons out the limits of his leveling till a long way into the series. Maybe half way through the story. It’s all awesome, lots more geek out awesomeness like this episode had. Just loads of fun to look forward to.
I honestly thought that the sword was one of the prizes he got from the daily quests since it gives random shit but he did mention that it was Mr. Kim's sword, the one that he used for that final struggle on episode 2
1:24 "If you think about it, imagine if he went up from [10], he's put, what [21] points, is it, in STR?" As revealed later in the episode, all his stats go up by 1 point with each level, so he's level 1 but he's got the strength of level 22. 3:24 "Wait, how did he get that sword?" The light novel actually did a better job explaining this. When talking about the UI, he explained that he didn't know he had an inventory until he got random loot boxes from the daily quests, items like bandages and pens that, by their descriptions, could be stored in his inventory, where he discovered Kim Sangshik's steel sword. I thought the anime was going to skip him having it, because it looks like the sword is laying next to Jin-Woo when he's found by Baek Yoonho.
A wolf which name is orange and a boss's name is orange is still 2 different things. He fought like 10 of the wolfs at the same time but the bosses in games usually makes up for that.
The thing about in anime language you asked about there are two versions released right now one global version with English text and a Japanese version there is also a Korean version if I am not mistaken A1 and Aniplex decided making different versions would best for marketing and accessibility.
The gap of strength between each hunter's ranks is most likely between tens of each numbers. And judging from how he's able to one shot the golem which is a D rank boss, means that he's probably around middle tier of C rank (if we can segregates the power level tier of a hunter in one rank, like e.g. low tier A rank, mid tier A rank, or high tier A rank.. well, something like that)
I believe at this point he would be around high C rank, maybe low B. But also ranges between ranks increase higher up, with S rank being very wide. And also his class later on will make it difficult to rank his personal strength 🤔
10:03 yea thats a very interesting decision they made. i think the main reason is, it would be bad if its in japanese. cause the original story is in korean and korean complaints may be there if the text is in Japanese. so they went with a language both could understand better
I am here to answer the real questions that no body is asking but should. Q: What does JinWoo and the goblin slayer have in common? A: they get their weapons mail ordered from Hyrule.
This is just my assumption but what I get from reading and watching this is that the strength increases exponentially. E-rank = 100 D-rank = 1000 C-rank = 10000 and so on. The different between E and D is large but between A and S is probably much larger.
power gap between levels grows bigger with each level, at S level it even splits on sublevels so amount of time to go from one level to another increases as well
during the "large" wolf fight they ping he levels up a lot but he only gets 3 levels from it, then grinds the other levels. But he dose the level grinding anyways. i just found this strange.
To be clear in books/monhwa 1 level after first wolf. 3 after the many wolfs. then grinds the other floors of the dungeon to get to level 15. Here they ping he levels like 8-9 times from the big wolf fight +1 from the goblins and first wolf and still grinds just 5ish to 6 levels from the WHOLE rest of the dungeon. (disclaimer i love the series i have read the monhwa and own all 8 light novels)
I think this was more for pacing reasons, rather than having the monsters respawn and watch him grind them since he was stronger than them now it would've been repetitive @@notepads3065
If they continue to follow the manhwa as closely as they have so far, you won't know his true level for a while yet. However if you take into consideration what the tanker said about the power of the thrown sword and that the hunter had to be high ranking, he would have be a high level C rank or a low level B rank. Top tier C rank and up were considered higher rankers.
9:46 So fyi there are Japanese version and Korean/Global version of this anime, in jp version they change the names of the characters into Japanese name so for example instead of Sung Jinwoo the mc name is Shun Mizushino, but in terms of visual display both version are written in English text
What on earth are you referring to? This anime as shown here is jp voice acted. As per Crunchyroll standards there are numerous dubs including English. The Japanese version we're currently watching has all the novel's original names pronounced as close as Japan can get with its syllables. You can practically hear the katakana. So where would one find this secret second audio track where the names are all Japan-ified for no reason? What studio would pay to rerecord the same language twice just to do such a pointless thing? I'm super curious and not just rejecting your assertion out of hand, only pointing out that from my POV it's wildly ridiculous. I heard about that Japanese naming thing as a rumor before the show launched and was very, very relieved it wasn't true.
We have a little bit of everything here.... We have: Sigma Grindset. We have: 💀LEEEROOY JEENNKINNS💀 We have: [Yeetus Deletus] Kim Left the sword in the ritual room and he had picked it up before the Finishing blow Once Joo Hee Starts asking questions ... you can tell her all about choking that snake.... 😏
If he leveled up like, approximately 15 times and almost tripled his base stats, plus the increases he put in strength making that x4 his base... well, it makes sense with that kind of crazy power increase that those wolves would quickly go from a threat 1 on 1 to being fodder trash mobs. How strong would you be if your strength was quadrupled? Probably enough on it's own to put you among the top 1% of humans, even if you're relatively out of shape to start with.
Solo Leveling had 179 chapters so even if they put up to four chapters in one anime episode, it won't end in 24 episodes. Plus you have the "non official" Season 2 made by his colleagues and fans, you are looking overall atleast a 100 episodes of anime.

Jinwoo is like saitama if saitama never got bored
He is like Yuji and Saitama combined.
Problem is Jin woo needs to fight even a little bit and there's many opponents strong as him but saitama? He's only Strongest
Saitama started Strong at Episode 1 until the end. Jin Woo will take more grinding and pain before became OP.
Oh just wait, that moment will come. Prolly not in the anime but it happens.
I agree with the comments if Yuji and Saitama had an emotional child 😂🫡
Jin woo about to have a proper weapon 😂
Please note Luke, that Solo Leveling is a korean manga, not a japanese one. Hence the names of all the characters, like Sung Jin-Woo (the main character). Also note that the manga is in full colour whilst the other Japanese mangas are black & white. Good to know some aspects of manga cultures ;)
I like to think he's High end of D rank at the end of the Snake dungeon. But he put all stats in damage so in theory he can slay low C monsters and i guess that's what the Snake was.
He’s easily C
@@avvrah6994 Compared to the party at the dungeon break, i see no magic and no healing from him. Stats alone yeah he's C but if you compare to other hunters he's D in my book. close tho.
It's unconfirmed (I think) but the rumour is that we're getting 12eps 2week 'break' then another 12eps
I think it's true thow, not only because the source of the rumour is very reliable so far but also because of the ant scene in ep1, i don't think they would've shown that if it wasn't gonna be a part of this season...
And so on.
3:25
It was put in his inventory after Mr. Kim left it in the dungeons when he ran out.
I think he should be around C grade now? Next one is a vital one in how his developtment truly affect him
I couldnt stop laughing when he talked about the sizes.
🤔 true
E ranks average around 70-80 on the mana-meter. Yeah 100 would still be E rank, but above average then.
Luke, please don't shut up it's always so funny😂 love such moments
😂
There are many more onion layers here.
Interface is his own (We had scenes at the hospital with the test and with the sister; second season can talk about interface and power (?), i think, maybe in the end of first).
And... you will have some story tricks with abilities
What the hunter measuring devices measure is MP basically
Man I would say YOU are a solo-leveling reacter because you've been continuously asking questions and getting answers instantly!
My respect for you 📈📈📈
IIRC that wasn't Dash/Sprint since his Agility hasn't reached 30 yet. Though he does have a passive that lets him deal additional damage due to his Strength reaching 30. That said, the aura around him wasn't that but rather the other passive he gained called Willpower which boosts his stats 30% when his HP falls below 30%.
Me personally, that was him tapping into something else. The Manhwa had him crackling with this Dark Energy, and that same Dark Energy is used for his unique ability in the future.
it's too bad for anime watcher that they don't show his stats at the end like in the manwha
Well the novel and the manwha have different stats at different points, doing it this way is probably easier
Yeah. Wish they would have that at the end of every episode. Still, they’re doing a great job adapting this. But yeah, just a shame they don’t have that. I used to love going through all his stats and abilities.
Fr
Just wait, the next episode with no spoiler, we will witness a giga chad transformation
This anime is the definition of: "let me do all the side quest first, so i am ready for the boss"
The you ebd up just flexing on said boss lol
3:38 "sigh"'s version of "ah come on..."
3:40 "wait, hype hype" "Ahhh? Come on!"
3:42 "oh ffs" AHH COME ONNN
back to back. I'm impressed lol.
All of them could kill it.. its just that they're both weak so the fight looks epic. He invested all his points to strength and it paid off.
This episode was awesome! Also Jinwoo's voice actor went crazy mode there, he actually coughted up blood
from the words of my dwarven friend
"If you can't cut it, crush it!"
Full ending reaction please!! 🤩
The sword in the inventory came from the double dungeon that he used to face the statues, which Kim, Park's friend, bought before the raid.
I’ve noticed a lot of people haven’t read the manhwa that’s surprising to me cause it’s sooooo good everyone should give it a try
gonna watch the anime, then probably buy the manhwa and keep going!
@@kitsunekaze93 you can read it for free online if you look up solo leveling chapter 1 that’s what I did lol
@@kitsunekaze93 it’s free online just type in solo leveling chapter 1 on google
3:42 that "come on!" Combo was so funny lmao this truly is a rollercoaster of emotions eh?
😂
this episode was fireeee
3:31 episode 2. Kim left the sword behind when he ran away. It is the sword Jinwoo then attempted to fight golems with. Because he had it the systwm assumed it was his.
Season 1 is 24 episode long, first 12 episodes then 2 weeks break , then rest 12 episodes. Same like jjk ,they released first 5 episodes then took 2 week break and then shibuya arc started
Man because too angry to die.
I jokes about him ripping the scales off to beat the snake before he did it, and when he did it was hype as hell.
Also a hunters rank is determined by there magic level (aka mp), so just because he can kill a giant snake doesn't necessarily mean he will get a higher rank. He will have to first raise his intelligence so he can get more MP.
at this point he is about high level C
The sword belonged to that other hunter that bailed on him on the Double Dungeon. It was the sword he had at the end, he just kept it.
honestly i think its much better when you can watch full anime in one session because you dont need then patiently wait for every episode.
1:24 "If you think about it, imagine if he went up from [10], he's put, what [21] points, is it, in STR?"
As revealed later in the episode, all his stats go up by 1 point with each level, so he's level 1 but he's got the strength of level 22.
3:24 "Wait, how did he get that sword?"
The light novel actually did a better job explaining this. When talking about the UI, he explained that he didn't know he had an inventory until he got random loot boxes from the daily quests, items like bandages and pens that, by their descriptions, could be stored in his inventory, where he discovered Kim Sangshik's steel sword. I thought the anime was going to skip him having it, because it looks like the sword is laying next to Jin-Woo when he's found by Baek Yoonho.
he got the sword from episode two at the very end!
it was still intact and he "died" with it. 🙂
A wolf which name is orange and a boss's name is orange is still 2 different things. He fought like 10 of the wolfs at the same time but the bosses in games usually makes up for that.
I love the ending from solo leveling so I would like if you reacted to the full ending ❤️
And also his class later on will make it difficult to rank his personal strength 🤔
everyone hitting the gym after this episode
10:03 yea thats a very interesting decision they made. i think the main reason is, it would be bad if its in japanese. cause the original story is in korean and korean complaints may be there if the text is in Japanese. so they went with a language both could understand better
tehy all started at 10 and +1 for level up and +3 per daily added to str for over a week I think.
I am here to answer the real questions that no body is asking but should.
Q: What does JinWoo and the goblin slayer have in common?
A: they get their weapons mail ordered from Hyrule.
Watching these has gotten me to read the manhwa. I really hope they go all the way with this adaptation, it'll be amazing.
This is just my assumption but what I get from reading and watching this is that the strength increases exponentially.
E-rank = 100
D-rank = 1000
C-rank = 10000 and so on. The different between E and D is large but between A and S is probably much larger.
im getting sooooooo excited I wish Joohee and him can catch up
power gap between levels grows bigger with each level, at S level it even splits on sublevels so amount of time to go from one level to another increases as well
The sword is from Mr. Kim from double dungeon
He's probably a higher C or B class hunter in this episode. When he was fighting the lycans he was higher D class.
during the "large" wolf fight they ping he levels up a lot but he only gets 3 levels from it, then grinds the other levels.
I think this was more for pacing reasons, rather than having the monsters respawn and watch him grind them since he was stronger than them now it would've been repetitive @@notepads3065
he is high C, close to B right now
yep saturdays are amazing
Sawano's soundtrack is everything...
The system screens are all in English, since is the most talked language in our world, and I don't say more...
i love how he just got out of a dungeon where he nearly died multiple times and just went "oh another quest lets go"
10:02 thats a great question, i have no idea 😅
I love the glow shot we got, he's future looks bright (or should i say black :b)
We have: 💀LEEEROOY JEENNKINNS💀
We have: [Yeetus Deletus]
Kim Left the sword in the ritual room and he had picked it up before the Finishing blow
Once Joo Hee Starts asking questions ... you can tell her all about choking that snake.... 😏
I've seen the Spanish one have Spanish boxes
23:08 I think he would be the equivalent of a High C rank, maybe low B at this point in the story.
Probably enough on it's own to put you among the top 1% of humans, even if you're relatively out of shape to start with.
and the rise of a gigachad has begun
Solo Leveling had 179 chapters so even if they put up to four chapters in one anime episode, it won't end in 24 episodes. Plus you have the "non official" Season 2 made by his colleagues and fans, you are looking overall atleast a 100 episodes of anime.
the concept of this anime is so sick to me, can’t wait for more!
