- In this video, we explain how to install the Victron Energy SmartShunt IP65: an all-in-one battery monitor, only without a display. Your phone acts as a display. The SmartShunt connects via Bluetooth to the VictronConnect app on your phone (or tablet). You can conveniently read out all monitored battery parameters, like state of charge, time to go, historical information and much more.
We show in this video where and how to connect the SmartShunt, what you can do with the SmartShunt and how to configure it.

Just give us the temperature sensor, c'mon. Make the price $112 instead of $111.
How do u connect it to 2 batteries mines not reading with the shunt properly
Maybe I'm stupid but makes no sense to me,how do you connect the solar charger after the shunt if the battery negative it's connected to the shunt, where do you connect the negative of the solar charge controller.
Hello! What happens if i do not connect the starter (main) Battery of the Load Side of the Shunt, instead of this i connect to The battery side, cause I got two batterys in parallel (main battery engine bay and second battery on the trunk) Both work for the car, winch, lights, etc. Both are charged in parallel by the alternator. I just only want to know information or status when my car is off, and the freezers and camping lights or inverter are running (engine off, car stoped). I got incorrect capacity measurements? Or it can work normally. Thank for the help in advance
In case, I have got a battery with BMS and this one is connected to the inverter via VE.Can protocol, do I need this shunt to determine the SOC of the battery or not?
Great video that i looked at before purchasing my Smartshunt. But there are a detail disturbing me and that is putting the positive ringlug (from the smartshunt) with the wrong hole size for the bolt between the battery post and the negative ringlug, this is degrading the contact to the negative battery post.
My system is 24V but actually has two 12V batteries wired in series. Can I still use the Smart Shunt, as long as I make sure I install it in between the 'second' battery and the load/system? I will put positive on the 'second' battery (closest to load/system) as well.
Will this device have any effect on my smart charger? Also, I leave my boat for six month periods, if you disconnect positive lead to battery, does that result in zero amp draw? Don’t want dead battery when I return.
My house battery is under my Class B van. I'm concerned the bluetooth may not be in range and will be shielded if I'm trying to read the display on my phone while inside the van. Is it possible to still connect an external display via a wire connection such as one of your BMV devices?
Glad I discovered this fancy little doohickey.
Feels weird not to have Jono's voice here. But a welcome change nonetheless.
Hi, great video, I have one of these shunts - I also have a Redarc dcdc charger. My question is, the charger will not work unless I provide an additional ground earth in addition to running its earth to the shunt, why would this be?
So do i need to connect the grey wire to anything if im just wiring to my dual batt set up in the back of my 4x4?
Nice, just got my first Dutch silver coin. I never got the second cable with my two smart shunt s. Very say for a Dutch Australian calibration technician.
is it a problem to connect the red wire to the + side of a battery disconnect switch so the IP65 does not drain the battery say if stored for several weeks?
Thanks for the video. May i just ask something: my habitation battery is grounded to the vehicle chassis. Where should i connect the ground cable? Load minus? Battery minus? Directly on the battery negative? Thanks in advance. Cheers
Hi, I just tidied up the wiring in my engine bay and shortened the red AUX Smartshunt wire to about 200mm - now the starter battery voltage reads about 0.33v although the battery is fully charged. Is the length of the red wire critical for accurate readings, or could it be the new ferrule I fitted not making proper contact? Thanks.
Any ideas why a multiplus 2 is not reading the correct voltage %of my batteries but my mart shunt is ..
Is it possible for the shunt to measure the Orion tr non isolated DC DC charger too? Or is this only possible with the isolated version of the Orion?
