Dad used to go to Vic Market every Saturday, the smell of all the fresh fruit, veggies and food was wonderful. My friend moved to QLD, but when she visits Melbourne, straight to the donuts before she’d visit as she misses them so much. Ah Parliament House, my great grandfather was a member of parliament during federation in 1901. My sister and I got to sit where he sat, sorta cool family history. I love Block Arcade, I used to cut through that every day in my way to work, didn’t realise how beautiful it is until I stopped working in the city, beautiful arcade. I’m seeing everything I grew up with. Haven’t been into the city for about 2 years, must plan another trip. Ta for vid , great memories .
I love the vibe of Melbourne, the wonderful architecture (old and new), the food, the markets and the people. Bourke Street is so lively, and it's great that they have free trams in the city circle.
must try chocolate; Mark Benner n San Churros at QV swanston st, Lindt Cafe at Spencer st, Bruch & Pruchese at Chapel st South Yarra, Laurent cafe & bakery at Toorak rd South Yarra,
Ben is hilarious! "You can definitely try and see if you can fit that in your suitcase. You'd probably have to pack it right. You probably wouldn't get through customs actually."
this Queen Victoria Market is lovely place when i visit to Melbourne, the cafe & bakery shop is good quality n affordable price, inside market u can buy some stuff n souvenir; T shirt, key chain, etc Prahran Market at South Yarra, infront of market have special Coffee shop with Black Coffee great quality, inside many restaurant with affordable price :-)
Thank you so much for this video! Huge thanks to both you! I have always been a fan of Melbourne and i do hope to eventually come and travel there :) So much love from Singapore ❤️
Just got back from Melbourne, and yes, their jelly doughnut is really good and man, I tried St Ali for coffee, nice one. Stayed there for a month and met nice Melbournian. Going back there in July :) Nice video!!
Awesome video! I need to visit Australia at some point including Melbourne. It is cool to also hear about Melbourne from a local's perspective along with yours!
Australians do NOT call them "Jelly Donuts", we call them JAM DONUTS. Calling Jam, Jelly is an American thing. To Australians, Jelly is that thing Americans call Jello. Also Americans do not price things properly. There is the price on the sales tag and then there's the PLUS TAX when you get to the checkout. It's unreasonable and just plain rude. You have the right to know the FULL price you will be paying up front and nobody should have to ask to obtain it. Australians do it properly. The price on the tag or the price you are quoted INCLUDES tax so you know eactly what you are paying up front. We are a civilized society.
Jelly and jam aren't the same. Jelly has been strained and doesn't have any bits of fruit. In the US we don't add an "ee" sound to every word, so Jell-O is still Jell-O, which is a name brand anyways, not an actual good.
Hi DrR, the generic name for the solid wobbly coloured stuff in OZ is called Jelly. A brand for us is Aeroplane Jelly. Jam is a fruit preserve that is spread on toast, we dont really differentiate between smooth and not smooth versions. It is interesting the similarity and differences in a language :D L
I understand what your doing. But Melbourne City Council actually lied about the "Made In Melbourne " By Robert Doyle former mayor,On the trams when you see Made in Melbourne , the new trams were actually built in Germany then exported over here to melbourne. Even the City Of Melbourne Logo is not Melbourne made. The designs we have in Melbourne are made from India , Japan and Germany, It's a shame that people don't know this. No offense guys , overall you did a great job
Some of the older Siemens trams came from Germany. Some of the Alston trams come from France but the very new trams are, indeed, made in the Melbourne suburb of Dandenong by the Bombardier company.
I work in Collingwood, that’s a joke I tell to my coworkers, but jokes aside there are some interesting places to check out there. Lots of weird people around there too.
Great video.. making me wants to visit Melbourne.. but apparently what Australians consider cheap is not the same as some of us think, looking at the price tags 😅
Laneways & arcades it doesn't have the looks but it has the food Me: hmmm... it doesn't look that bad. Sees the guy with the smoke Me: well I'm never getting food there 😂
Thank you for sharing! You're so skilled. I really like to travel also:)I fairly recently shared my first ever movie - My travel diary in Queenstown. Eep!Would really like your observations on my video/editing so I can also get better like you!
This used to be a great city. We need to get rid of the druggies dole bludgers put them in 24h care apart from that there’s still hope for this vibrant city of ours. Love your panda bear and we do have the best god damn health care in the world.
I've been to both Sydney & Melbourne & Melbourne wins hands down. The layout is more user friendly espeicially the roads, the culutral diversity is far better & the food is to die for. The night markets at the Queen Vic Market held twice a year is amazing & a foodies paradise & there's so much more to see & do than this video shows. Also the weather is milder & more bearable in Melbourne than it is in Sydney & the peole are friendlier too. At least that's my experience & I now travel to Melbourne as much as I can & I still have so many things I want to see & do & places I want to eat at.
You reckon? Even Italians laud Melbourne's coffee culture and the coffee is superb. When I went to LA I was hanging out for decent coffee. Over there it's all filter coffee and their cappuccinos are AWFUL...made with filtered coffee with the steamed froth just plonked on top...yeeech! The ONLY two places in LA where I found good coffee was at a stall at Farmer's Market run by some lovely South American people and at the Tom Bradley terminal where one coffee shop made real espresso.
As you see from the video , there is nothing worth seeing in Melbourne . Street gang crime is out of control, don’t walk streets at night . Lousy , unreliable weather all year round . Avoid .

I hear ya. Don't get me started about tipping in the US! Hah.
Something interesting about the Queen Victoria market: The carpark sits on top of an old cemetery
+Candle Stick Oooh.. is it haunted? :)
Yellow Productions Apparently it is! . There's still around 9,000 bodies still buried right under the car park. Creepy huh?
Super creepy! :)
That's cool I didn't know my fruit shop was above a burial ground!
Not only an old one - it was also the FIRST cemetery in Melbourne.
Great job Ben! Love your Australian accent!
ocgirltw Thank you OC Girl!!!! It's a deep soothing accent!
Visited Melbourne & Sydney way back in 1988
great video gents, well done. showcased my old home town well. probably only things missing were maybe lygon street and st kilda.
+ozzycarnut Thanks ozzycarnut! The good news is that St Kilda isn't "missing" -- it will just be in its own video! :))
awesome! st kilda is not to be missed for melbourne visitors.
ozzycarnut thanks mate.

Hi Chris
Haighs Chocolates are from Adelaide
You can visit the Haighs Chocolate Factory there when you return 👌
Ben, you forgot to mention that you can see Ned Kelly's armour at the state library!
Be honest Kristy I didn't know that!

Some of the older Siemens trams came from Germany. Some of the Alston trams come from France but the very new trams are, indeed, made in the Melbourne suburb of Dandenong by the Bombardier company.
Yeah sounds like a political move. What a lie. I never knew that. Thanks for the heads up.

I was hoping to see Flinders Park
Sorry Ricardo, maybe I'll do a walking tour of Melbourne video just for you and go past Flinders Park!!!

You should ask Ben to take you to Collingwood, a few places I'm sure you will enjoy are The Peel and Club80

Eureka Tower highest toilet in Australia? I pissed at Eagle Nest on Mt. Kosciuszko;)
lol
Great video.. making me wants to visit Melbourne.. but apparently what Australians consider cheap is not the same as some of us think, looking at the price tags 😅
Swany S Some things are cheap some things are not! Come and visit!
+Swany S The prices are in Australian dollars.. which compared to US dollars are less :)
Food prices are in kilograms , which is equal to 2.2 pounds in America and priced accordingly.
If you go out of the city centre things are much cheaper.
Ben, mate. What kind of locals tour of Melbourne is this without showcasing REVs or Boney.
Yeah true. I should've taken him there...
Can you come back again and do melbourne 2.0
Laneways & arcades it doesn't have the looks but it has the food
Me: hmmm... it doesn't look that bad. Sees the guy with the smoke

+Simonas Dailidė Wish about Melbourne?
Ben, what’s with the LA cap, u are representing Melbourne not LA.
LA has a special place in my heart. I didn't see it as a problem. You're not the only one that didn't like me wearing the hat!!!
Please take me home I'm an "Australian" Koala made in China.
HHAHAHAHHAA the dounut looks ike a pinis
If you think so...
Seems like a nice guy though
I'm nice. Trust me.
Haigh’s Chocolate is an ADELAIDE icon, not a Melbourne icon
... oh dear, "LA"...too bad you weren't wearing a "Melbourne" cap -_-
The LA cap doesn't represent Los Angeles but the team I support.
Nice pig head prices 😂😂
Hmmm Melbourne looks a lot less interesting than Sydney 😬 and I wanted to go travelling to Melbourne
Don't be fooled by Sydney's beauty, that's all it has. Melbourne has so much culture and other things going for it that Sydney wishes it had!

Sydney is a supermodel - beautiful, but shallow. Melbourne is a pretty, beguiling woman who is into karma sutra.
