Born and raised in Bakersfield, in the late 80's his radio station was there "kuzz" my wife had won a trip to san bardino and $100 from kuzz on the radio, we went there to pick up the money and ticket to the hotel, heard the door opened behind us and in walks buck. He stood there quietly until we finished with his receptionist my wife mentioned to him she won and he was so thrilled for us. What a cool guy. And yup walked outside and there was the car....
My bad, wasn't San bardino, lol Was Santa Barbara and stayed at Biltmore hotel. I mean really why would buck send us to San bardino...Oh well it was long ago.
I LOVE Jonathan Davis and Korn!!!! I was SO excited to see this blog and was really hoping that you'd talk about J.D. & Korn too! So, thank you SO MUCH for including them in this vlog!!
@Carla JoPeer So true! Korn get so much hate but they do so much good for the Bakersfield community on the down low! but like Buck, they are big in Japan! Can't believe the time I traveled there and when someone found out I'm from Bakersfield, Korn is all they asked about. but then, on the other hand, I was shocked to find not many knew who Godzilla was lol
My mothers family lives in Bakersfield and my grandmothers home is across the street from the airport. the story she told is that at one time Buck Owens was going to build a recording studio located on some vacant land behind her home but it never came to pass it probably would have been just the studio no theater and nothing like the crystal palace built much later.
That was fun to see the Crystal Palace again! And to see and hear about the recording studio. Lots of singers used that really nice big building. Boy if only those walls could talk!
Beautiful building ! Sad that it's empty. Glad the guy owned up we all make mistakes and am happy he's part of the 'pride' again !! Great Vlog Jordan and hello to Breck !!
Really nice to watch this video and see how things have changed from when I lived in Bakersfield. I remember that building in Oildale also housed 2 radio stations, KUZZ and KKXX. I also remember Buck Owens blvd. when it was Pierce rd. and the Bakersfield sign at it's old location on Union ave. Crazy how things change.
Good one for sure, Jordan! Although he's gone now, Buck Owens is still a favorite Country singer of mine. My sister and I saw Buck and his Buckaroos in concert in Milwaukee, WI. An exciting time for us. Thank you for your volg. The car is super cool along with the tour of Buck's Palace.
In addition to the recording studio, the Bakersfield radio stations that Buck Owens owned at the time broadcast from this building as well. The radio studios were to the left of the theater entrance. Cool building!!
First congratulations on 14k subs well done, we all appreciate all the miles and hard work you put into all your Vlogs. Bakersfield looks like a nice country town. I really love American architecture, Jah is playing shy till you mentioned his girlfriend name....I hope you all have a great sleep and day.
Awesome vlog!!! And we ALL LOVE Jah!! Glad to hear about the guy feeling bad and coming to you. At times we say things that we regret later. Peace to you and Jah!!
You know Jordan out of all the people's I follow on here (UA-cam) I have to say your my favorite. You vlog things that are History. And the places you vlog and the celebrities I never knew. So I'm so happy that I found someone who I can live through and can say I seen that or yeah I've been there through a vlogger that I follow. Plus I Love California and I can go and visit those places you vlogged. Thank you Jordan👍😊
Awesome vlog..... Good on Randy for making things right. I'll have to check out the other vlog on the Crystal Palace. It looks pretty cool.... Thanks for hanging out today Jordan. I'll see you tomorrow.... Take care..... Arthur Childs, Oak Harbor, WA. 🙂
OH MY GOODNESS: Jordan when I went to watch UA-cam this afternoon I was blown away by seeing Buck Owens studios building. I said to myself "Wow that building really looks familiar. Then I read what the video was about and I told my Mom "MOM MOM do you recognize that building?" She said "No" I said Mom that building is just down the street from us on North Chester. She then realized that it was Buck Owens old Studio. Wow and I didn't even know you were coming here today. If I had I would have met up with you. I was raised here in Bakersfield and on the Bakersfield Sound. I love Buck Owens and Merle Haggard. IM FREAKING OUT MAN LOL. I have told so many other vloggers about Bakersfield and what they could do here. So far your the first person to do so. I live just down the street from that building. Did you know that Pioneer Village (The Bakersfield Museum) has Merle Haggard's childhood home? Yep. I also like Korn. I am a personal friend to Anthony Cutshall that was the first original drummer for them before they became famous. My Dad was a Baptist Minister for 55 years until he passed away in 2009 and he raised his family here. Thank you so much for doing this. Also if you ever get a chance go up HWY 178 to Kernville they a small museum with a lot movies that were filmed in the area. Well it was great watching it. I hope to see more from this. Oh and by the way I will be starting a vlog soon called of all things THE HOSS. I will let you know when. Thanks again buddy. Take care.
Jordan , my mouth flew open when I saw the Buck Owens recording studio . I was just watching a video about Loretta Lynn and she was talking about how Buck helped her get her big start into county music . I remember watching one where Elivs also talks about recording at Buck Owens Studio , but this is the first time I've ever seen it !! I love the car . I loved Hee Haw when I was growing up . I've always heard about Bakersfield , but I've never seen it before . I'll have to go back and watch your other vlog about that place , because I haven't seen it yet . Oh also , I'm glad to know Buddy Owens still owns it . I bet it was an awesome place to be back in those days too !! I absolutely love love love this vlog Jordan !! Thank you so much for sharing this !! I got to share this on Facebook ! 💗😘
Sad it’s not open or anything right now but it has such Beautiful walls on the building! and Of course you can’t go to Bakersfield without going to the crystal palace again! Great vlog Jordan!
The sign for the cemetary was sooooo bad, it was cool. I will be the first Patreon for the Breck Vlog, that man has a future. Great to see the Crystal Palace again and good to know that it retains popularity even though Buck has passed on.
Aww Jah...love you buddy! He gets so excited to go and play with Pollyanna! Just so cute. Hey Jordan, my son lives in Bakersfield. His wife was born and raised there. Im gonna have to ask him if he has seen this building...im sure the wife knows about it. Thanks for another interesting vlog! Hey Breck...good to see you.
Much of video “Korn reconciliation” here on UA-cam was shot inside this building. The video chronicles when Brian Welch, one of Korn’s original guitarists, rejoined the band in 2013. Jonathan talks about its prior ownership by Buck Owen’s and shows some of the memorabilia inside.
This vlog was awesome bc of the fact of the whole Korn thing!Johnathans dad owning that I never knew..Korn making their first album there🤗🤗huge Korn fan thank you!!!
I grew up in the 70's and watchin Hee Haw was the norm for us. Always was a fan of Buck owens and always seen him a good guy that lived an honest clean life. Thanks Jordan...I never knew before where he was even from!
What a great vlog! Just when I think you cant do anything any better, you pull this gem off! Loved Bick Owens as a singer and a person. The Crystal Palace was better than I imagined. Love Breck! He;s so shy it makes him cute! Love Jah too. Bet Jah had fun with his girlfriend.
Awesome! When I worked security for Korn the night of the Tyson/Holyfield ear biting fight lol they invited me on their bus and brought in hand trucks of mini cereal boxes lol! Super nice guy and band. I'll never forget it. :)
I liked the journey up love watching people drive i5 up the grapevine . What a great old theatre studio loved the marble and Art Deco look . Bakersfield looks Nice little city love the bar and memorabilia you made me hungry seeing that food . You take us to the most awesome places ! Thanks Jordan and Breck for driving. Us there. 👍🏻💙🎬🎥🐶🦁😎🇺🇸👍🏻
Thank you for mentioning the name of the actual theatre!! Cinematreasures.org list this theatre in Oildale California.. ((no wonder I couldn't find it)).. Thanx again!! I'm guessing it's Bucks' son Buddy that owns this place..
I used to have trips to Bakersfield in the 90’s. I didn’t think there was anything to do there and would just be bored to death. Too bad I didn’t know about this then. Keep up the good work
I think Polly Anna and Jah might be an item! Nudie sure could design some pieces of art. One thing I have to say about the people in the USA is you sure go out of your way to create some really nice places to visit. We don't really have that much in Canada, but what we do have is pretty good. Love the museum and bring Jah to every vlog!
KUZZ radio was also in that building for years as well as Buck Owens Enterprises, OMAC artists, his talent booking agency. It was quite a building inside... Buck opened his recording studio around 1968 and 69 when he managed to purchase his master tapes from Capitol records. ACT NATURALLY was recorded in 1963 in Hollywood at Capitol records. Most of Bucks hits were recorded in Hollywood at Capitol. Streets of Bakersfield may have been recorded in Bakersfield. Most of the music Buck recorded here was in the 70's or later. Reason I know this is I worked for Buck and his sons in Phoenix at his country station there---KNIX.
I'm glad that Randy guy clear the air with you, he seem like a genuine good guy that felt very bad about what his comment on your video which was not mean spirited actually , people on social media are very vicious with their words esp on Reddit and Twiitter.
Some days you can see Korn loading their gear Johnathan Davis actually bought this place from bucks son I live literally 2 streets over Jordan cool vid thanx for visiting out crazy little town
"Where oh where are you tonight? Why did you leave me here all alone? I've searched the world over and thought I'd found true love. You met another and pfft you was gone!!
I'm not trying to be a smart-ass or anything like that but Act Naturally was actually recorded at Capitol studios in Hollywood in the early 60s. Buck didn't open this studio until the late 60s.
I'm almost positive that Jonathan Davis now owns this building! Last I heard, he owned it and they used it to record all of Korn's albums that were made after J.D. took ownership of it. I almost positive!! But there's a chance I'm wrong.
Another great vlog Jordan. I grew up watching Heehaw as well, and have a lot of great memories with my grandparents watching the show. We have done some banquets at church where the entertainment has been a Heehaw Spoof. We have a blast with people singing and acting out some of the skits they used to do on the show. I love Buck Owens. Have you seen the Glen Campbell show clip where Merle Haggard does an imitation of several including Buck Owens, then Buck walks up behind him. Search UA-cam, it's on there. Funny Stuff. I know it was practiced prior, but it's still great. Thanks again for another interesting vlog "my friend" Here is a link: ua-cam.com/video/t4V3S7kGNjY/v-deo.html

Thanks Randy!

@Carla JoPeer I see Brian a lot around town and Jonathan I met once at our local comic shop. Both were very nice guys!
@Carla JoPeer I know Brian does for sure but no idea if the others do for certain.
Awesome cool vlog. Love that Jah. What a beautiful building. Seems so sad that it is standing empty. That car is amazing.

Buck did have a song called California Oakie. About his hometown and birth. Too bad the building's empty
You drove right past my house on your way to Oildale. Had I known.
I think Polly Anna and Jah might be an item! Nudie sure could design some pieces of art. Actually Jordan Act Naturally was cut at Capitol Capitol studios in Hollywood
Cool video :)
I loved heehaw!!!
I'm not trying to be a smart-ass or anything like that but Act Naturally was actually recorded at Capitol studios in Hollywood in the early 60s. Buck didn't open this studio until the late 60s.
Actually Buck recorded Act Naturally at Capitol Studios in Hollywood
did you know that the actor who played AJ Simon lived in bakersfield
And I don't think Korn's 1st album was recorded there
The Bakersfield sound was very distinctive in country music. It is missed.
Being located in California it had that sweet Tex Mex sound.
I'm almost positive that Jonathan Davis now owns this building! Last I heard, he owned it and they used it to record all of Korn's albums that were made after J.D. took ownership of it. I almost positive!! But there's a chance I'm wrong.
Cool
Hee Haw ! Good Vlog !
so many musicians are trying to get antilog equipment now I do believe tom petty use it to get that sound
Come people let blow past 100 smack that like button
