My father was a Marine in World War II and was stationed in California for a short time before he went to the Pacific Campaign. He told me he was invited to Gene Autry's ranch for a barbeque one weekend during the time he was stationed in California. Gene Autry would hold barbeques for a bunch of the service people every weekend or so. My father said there was a huge whole pig roasting in a pit and Gene Autry was there and he made all the service people feel welcomed.

Paul Towarnicki Its interesting because prior to WW2 Gene Autry was bigger that Roy Rogers. But the when war broke out Gene enlisted and wasn't making films then. That's when Roy's popularity sky rocketed and then was bigger than Gene even after Gene got out of the military.

What a treat to see this as it is today. We get the old Westerns early on weekend mornings. Just watched a Cisco Kid last Sunday. I love these places!

Very interesting! We have a town named Gene Autry here in Oklahoma. They named it in hopes it would entice him to live there and build something like this set there.

I wouldn't mind living in a ghost town. Never knew this existed. I learn and travel so much with your vlogs. Unfortunately car rentals main thing is to get as much money from you through upgrades. That is how they make their money. I know because I worked for a car rental place years ago. I'm glad you stood your ground. I remember years ago that credit cards had car insurance but customer only knew if they called the credit card companies. Not sure about now. Another great vlog. Peace to you and Jah

I used to work for a car rental co. YEARS ago...they always try to up sell. You can check with your your credit card co. You should be covered with them. Also...depending on the value of your own vehicle...if its stationary while your using the rental car...your own insurance will cover you....NEVER take the insurance if you dont have to.

That place has really grown! I haven't been out there since 1999, when my kids were little. There was a lady out there who had a little theme park! It was great for kids. I guess it's long gone?

Perfect day for a ghost town! Shame it wasn't open but great excuse to return. I wondered where and when the Gene Autry bowling photo was taken now I know. Reminiscent of the Henry Ford museum town in Dearborn? Or Brooklyn, Michigan? (I touched the Kennedy car there! ). Would love to see the wild west show and visit the ghost town, our history. Always exuberant after your vlogs Jordan thank you. Jah!

That was really cool, that is definitely a place I would love to go visit! When I was in Junior High we went to a Ghost Town up in Northern California, I think around the Paradise area. I never forgot the experience, loved westerns! It's sad to think it probably isn't there now because of the wild fires.

Really cool vlog Jordan. You know, I had been to the Marine Corps base many times out there in 29 Palms while stationed at Long Beach Naval Hospital, but never knew of Pioneer town. I almost had orders to 29 Palms, but found out that is was no Palm Springs..... Crazy difference, right? Anyhow, very cool little town..... I'll have to add that to my list of things to check out. Well, onto the next vlog.... Take care Jordan, and catch you later..... Arthur Childs, Oak Harbor, WA.

Like Pioneer town better than the Paramount western town. Cute story about Gene Autry using the local kids to set up the bowling pins at that bowling alley in Pioneer town lol. I also got a kick on Jah’s expression when you told him you were dropping him off at Polyana’s cuz you were going to Pioneer town❣️Precious ❤️🙏🏻Thanks for all your detailed information on the places you visit, Jordan. 🌵🏫🕍⛪️🤠

Jordan, try visiting 29 PALMS too. go to the "glass outhouse" they have a website too! The best Mexican is a small place next to the JELLY DONUT called Algobertos, try it next time it's in YUCCA VALLEY Authentic Mexican food best in high desert. Try and make it to THE SOUND BATH up towards Landers they have a website too. Lots of people believe in Aliens up here too ya know...check it all out. There is a little breakfast joint across from the Mexican restaurant you like called JT COUNTRY KITCHEN only open for breakfast until 2pm, they also serve Asian Fusion food it's owned by an Asian couple, Anthony Bourdain reviewed it, there are pictures inside of him small place, cash only. Joshua Tree Coffee Company is right behind PIE FOR THE PEOPLE, they roast their own coffee beans on the premises. Nice place to sit outside and enjoy coffee or tea. I love living here. Hope this helps!

I dont like Enterprise and will never use them again unless I have to . Thrifty work well for me in Boston and I was able to use my own full coverage insurance without having to buy extra. There was one in Orlando at the airport that was really great too . They really saved my keister with a great car great and terms and it wasn't booked in advance. I can't remember their name but they look like generic Rent-A-Car and they were the last guys on the totem pole at the airport.
