- Marauders #15 is Chapter 14 in Marvel’s X of Swords event, the continuation of the dinner party from Marauders #14 that ended with Wolverine’s apparent stabbing of Saturnyne, the Omniversal Majestrix of Otherworld.

Saturnyne of course does not die via stabbing, and instead gives Wolverine a vision of how the Arakko / Krakoa war plays out without her presence. Needless to say, it's not good for Earth as we know it, with Arakko laying waste to Krakoa and all of Earth's mightiest heroes, with Wolverine impaled to a crucifiX to watch it all. We’ve seen the X Crucifix used by Arakko previously, but it’s also a nice callback for Wolverine to the Australia X-Men era, and 1989’s Uncanny X-Men #251 cover by Marc Silvestri.

These issues were so freaking weird, but I kind of love it ? I'm definitely waiting for the other shoe to drop, Saturnyne's trials feel so random and wild that it would be disappointing if there's no valid explanation for it.
Thank you! I feel like they were so off, there's no liking them with no solid explanation. And the tension that the beginning of the story foreshadowed is not here. I'm utterly disappointed.

She never looses, so you need to turn it to your advantage to have her win.
Something I just realized : in the vision Saturnyne gives to Wolverine, it is mentioned that Moira X was one of the victims of the mind bomb, even from her No-Place. Two things :
1) We're told that Wolverine “saw it all with deathless eyes”. Does that include him seeing Moira in her No-Place ?
2) Given that this is all a vision created by Saturnyne, does that mean she know about Moira ?
Yes! Very interesting question. I interpreted the vision as something Wolverine "lived" through from point Stab to point Crucifix, meaning there's not necessarily a reason he would realize Moira was impacted by the Mind-Bomb. That info could be just for us. But if he just sees all these flashes from a vision from Saturnyne, then it's possible, and if it's news to him, I feel like he should have mentioned as much to Storm (oh btw, Krakoa has a huge secret!).
The question about Saturnyne knowing... it sure seems likely? Raises an interesting to question to me: How do Moira's lives affect the Omniverse?
Summoner has been taking 'roids for the tournament.
"I see you did well with the children" made me guffaw, the pause panel was well used.
I really liked the interactions and portrayals of the Arakkons in this issue a lot.
But agreed that the build up I've been enjoying was used pretty poorly in the following issues.
I watched this video with my nephew and the first thing he asked me was "If Issa powers kick in when she is challenged, why doesn't whoever she has to fight simply not challenge her?"
Kids are dang smart!! Refuse to play the game.
This whole event is so weirdly put togetheter.
The structure is really good though. Show Arrako as a big menace, spend some time getting ready, then a bit of fun and games and then go into the tournament proper.
@@dantecrottogini529 I dunno, we've seen the backstory been told 3-4 times and in the last issue of x-men they had the audacity to reuse 14 pages of an previous issue. So many issues with so little driving force and now when the fighting have finally started the fights are over in a few pages. And what the hell... the fights themselves are pretty weird and not very focused on the swords. Feels like Saturnyne is trolling everyone hella hard with this whole setup.

Did anyone notice that Wolverine saw Moira in her No-Place!? Now he knows That she's alive.
Not my interpretation of “The Wolverine saw it all with deathless eyes” but certainly a valid one.
I think that was just narration for us, not necessarily Saturnyne showing Wolverine everyone dead on Krakoa.
Saturnyne says to Wolverine "...I freely give you this gift. This Glimpse of the future". So no it wasn't just a narration. But let's wait and see what the future holds.
I think it would make more sense if Mad Jim Jasper was the one deciding the challenges, not Saturnyne. It would explain why the games are so random and why the X-men are playing with disadvantages
With all the mirroring going on between the mutants of Krakoa and Arrako, what if the elusive Shadow King has somehow infected Cerebro and Cerebro is Krakoa's version of the Annihilation helm since it rarely seems to leave Xavier's head?
Even further, if that helm of Amenth gets forged into an Annihilation Sword, that would be interesting for an Arakkii (a•Rocky) to raise, since Mikhail Rasputin is controlling the Cerebro sword. However, I don’t know how another Helm if Amenth can be recreated, and that remains to be unseen for now.
Totally agree with the whole tonal shift starting with this chapter and going forward with the next two. Oddly enough, I really enjoyed all three chapters released today. I was intrigued by this event being a sword fighting tournament and when things get changed up to being totally off the wall battles instead I realized (much like the writers did too I'd assume) that having 10 different sword fights would get old quick. So props to creative for keeping it fresh. I expect all the battles to be blown right through and explore the larger themes of what it all means for the future in chapters 21 & 22.
This was honestly my favorite issue of x of swords. I liked everyone just vibing and hanging out. Tbh I was honestly not super jazzed about seeing 10 sword fights so this issue made me more hyped for what's to come.
I almost feel as if by the end they could find respect and peace by the end and people such as domino could be trained better, a good way to power up popular X-Men as for the opposing slide to learn war and power is not everything. So the marriage of both ideas would power up many of the characters
In an ideal world yes
Up until here I loved it, 14 great chapters, the following 2 ones ... well, it's not the pacing, is that they don't make any sense, sure the fights can be quick and the story can still work, imagine if Arako wins 10 - 0, squashing every X-Men in the first seconds of the battle, that would be insane, it would be unexpected and would work. However what happens next, MAKES NO SENSE, it's like being on drugs while having a stroke!
It just feels like the tournament have no weight behind them. Betsy dies as soon as her fight start the nex moment Doug is getting married. Then Wolverine has a bunch of fights which were cool but had no room to breathe. The fights feel like an after thought when they should be the main event
I really like Vern from cerebros podcast theory that the White Sword is Apocalypses brother. Especially after WS put Death in his place when he came calling.
I dug this issue. The characters are well developed. Art is fun and energetic. Fun read.
I'm ALL for a united Okarra; but why is this tournament happening? Saturnyne acted as if Wolverine didn't attack her, she would just dismiss the tournament (per Brian's request) due to War's cheating. Is the tournament that arbitrary? I sort of thought Annihilation was the driving force of the Arrakiis potentially coming to Earth and conquering everything but if Saturnyne can just stop that from happening doesn't that make Genesis's sacrifice and the tournament pointless? I'm confused about Otherworld politics. The Arrakiis seemed able to wipe out Dryador without too much push-back. Would them coming to Earth be essentially the same dynamic? Is the issue that Earth doesn't really have a seat at the Otherworld table or Saturnyne has no problem with them invading Earth, she's just adding the complication of a tournament to make it somewhat sporting?
If Annihilation can be contained, I still think the Summoners (and their agenda) needs to be dealt with. But if Krakoa is for mutants then I don't see how the Arrakiis could be denied. Just find common ground and bring them into the fold like all the classic X-men villains. And, hey, those who can't adapt to our weak Earth ways can always be added to the Hellions.
The X Cross was the first thing I thought of when I saw that image. That issue is also one of the early Jubilee appearance if I’m not mistaken which is interesting because she shows up in the next chapter

I noticed that the Summoner was jacked also lol so funny to see the change, he looks a bit odd now

Saturnyne bringing a bit of Rogue within herself. How is she that powerful? Not sure if she absorbed Logan’s Adamantium blade powers after that stab. Plus, she is literally going with a fight to the death, and death post-match is quite a consequential win for Krakoa and Arakko. Aside from that, we have yet to figure out what Saturnyne wished a star for in X of Swords: Stasis.
That cover looks maaaad suspect with that cream placement around wolverines mouth(pause moment).
These "battles" are so random
I think it would make more sense if Mad Jim Jasper was the one pulling the strings. Like he just wanted to fuck with everyone and have some fun

Also, is this the 1st time the Ivory Spire that the White Sword resided in has been referred to as the Celestial Spire?
I believe so. Could this have something to do with Celestial technology?

The Peak (SWORD headquarters) houses a horde of its own as well. Cable may be the key to keeping the Amenth horde in check by powering the station and with the aid of Magik, teleport the Vescora into Amenth. Cyclops, Jean, and Magik are plotting something big.
Everyone's complaining about the rehash of the plot and the slow burn but I'm sure its because there wont be time for exposition dumps during the fight unlike anime tournament arcs lol

I was thinking the same thing of Apocalypse taking the helm for Krakoa. It would fit his redemption arc where Geneisis originally said he was not strong enough to originally fight against Amenth. How ironic would it be for him to prove his strength by taking the helm from his very own wife to control Amenth? I've thought the other day that Genesis probably will not survive this event. I hope she does as I've gotten quite attached to the character. Damn you Hickman!
I would wager that the Sword Bearers will basically become the armed forces/military of Krakoa and the X-Men in general, pun not intended. Which also makes me ponder future stories, like I think Hickman is gearing up to write the X-Men Vs the Marvel Universe!
It was literally just last night when I saw Rogue strapped to the same cross. (I was reading Mr. & Mrs X).
Speaking of Star Trek & X-Men, ever notice that both have a "Shi'ar" that come from space? (Romulan Tal Shiar).

I saw who the match up was and I really don't like it. But I'm actually loving this event.
I may have missed some of this, but what happened to the “behind the scenes” stuff that Cyclops and Jean were alluding to....that they didn’t want Cable to know? Personally I would have preferred Laura (whatever the hell is going on in that temple where she’s stuck) or Daken to fight in the tournament instead of Wolverine. He’d have been better suited to helping defend Krakoa no matter the outcome of the tournament! Another thing that I think I missed was what’s Sinister’s little troupe up to? Sorry in advance for all of the questions!
Will probably be picked up in the next Cable title

It is jarring, but I kind of think that is the point. This is otherworld, and it plays with expectations. I really enjoyed it, but I assume a lot of people hated it.
If she can never lose it seems the trick will be her changing sides.
Ever since we got introduced to Isca and her powers I've been saying Krakoa needs to find a way not to lose. Redroot, White Sword, Solem, Bei the Blood Moon and maybe Pogg Ur-Pogg all can be persuaded to joining Krakoa and escaping the hell that is Arakko. Redroot wants Arakko and Krakoa to be one. White Sword & Solem hate the Horsemen and can be reasoned with. Pogg Ur-Pogg may be bought since that's how the Horseman convinced him to fight. Bei the Blood Moon... well next issue. That only leaves the family of the Horseman. War, Death, Summoner, Isca & Annihilation. Isca isn't necessarily loyal to any one side as long as she is on the most advantageous one.
Now I'm starting to think that Isca might be an Omega mutant, or at least a really powerfull Alpha, since she seems to have not limits to her unbeatable powers

X of Swords is a Krakoan Nation thing, as such I understand the event appearing in every "X'" title. So while I'm a dedicated fan of Marauders, I don't find it odd.

I feel like we are actually picking up steam I actually really enjoyed these issues like "pin the tail on Pogg Ur Pogg" next birthday game.
What if Storm takes the Helm. Her card was death which was about metamorphosis.
Also I read the latest Strange Academy the last page made me think that Beast is out to get Scarlet Witch I'm some manner. He wanted to test if the gates work with her and given how he's been acting that can't be good. Magneto also wants to see her but I felt like that was genuine, the only way that's bad is it would look like favoritism to her when he's been kind of a duck to Polaris
Oh yeah! I hope Hank and Erik can finally show us if Wanda (and Pietro too) is indeed a mutant. That's what I've wanted to see sinse 2015 Marvel debunked her mutant status.

I have a serious question. If Arrako or whatever it's called has became one with Krakoa as shown in x men #1 then how is Arrako separate from earth.
It was just a part of Arakko that Summoner brought to Earth from Ameth, not the whole island.

What started as a good event has turned into an uneven bore. This was by far the best of today’s issues, but I have no idea what is really going on. The character behavior is just odd and the battles are non existent

This event is so stupid and feels out of place. Last thing I remember I was enjoying the Marauders story with the Hellfire Club and Kitty and Emma and I finally found one Hickman story I'm actually interested in and all of a sudden we're hit with this random story with these random ass alien characters I don't know or even care about, interrupting the story I was actually enjoying. Man Hickman made a mess, Idc how much you all praise him, I don't even wanna keep up at this point.

Ok X of Swords is garbage now. I tried to champ for it but this is pissing me off. Summoner built up to get beat in two pages? How would Solem know Wolverine would be allowed to fight for him? This week had really put this story in the toilet for me and I still will read them all 🤦🏾♂️

1. Summoner was built up as a snake and killed Rockslide which caused a permanent death ( Good Writing) and in turn dies a meaningless wordless death to Wolverine with a sword through the eye. (Bad Writing)
2. She makes up the rules but Solem a character who met Wolverine in hell to make this deal somehow knew Saturnyne a woman he hasn’t met yet was going to allow Wolverine to take Solem’s place in a fight that he didn’t know he was going to have with one of his teammates? Bro it’s bad writing even with your Saturnyne excuse...and this isn’t even all the issues with this week.
G. Frasier 1 snake that was exploiting a weakness on a friends he knew precisely to strike does not mean much and permanent death was Circumstantial environment not through him personally
2 solem a hedonism blood knight who could work with any situation given to him so even if the summoner survive

There’s no way Solem could have known that Wolverine would need to fight for him in the tournament against his own side with rules in another’s control. It’s nuts for you to think that lol
In point of fact, outright war with Arakko and Amenth is winnable by the mutants of Krakoa alone, much less with Earth's other heroes added on. This is true despite the absolutely moronic situation that only 2% of Krakoa's population has any combat training, a dismal state of affairs that the real Apocalypse would've rather died than allow. All for one simple fact: Krakoa has at least 15 omega level mutants while Arakko appears to have maybe one. Fully unleashed, even all the hordes of Amenth would mean little before only the power of Vulcan if, as he says, he could crack the moon in half if he really wanted to.
Why did you they replace Cable with this lame kid version? Is Marvel's goal to make all their heroes wise cracking juvies?
