The IELTS Listening maps diagrams practice test comprises of 40 questions all related to maps , as many students are facing difficulty in the ielts listening map, section 2 of the ielts exam. Therefore, this ielts listening maps practice test video will assist aspiring candidates to overcome their shortcoming and also wish them that they surpass their desired scores in the exams and score maximum in the ielts listening map part.

As a native speaker of English, my wife asked me to try this test. I was born and grew up in Northern Ireland. My name is in Vietnamese because I was living in Vietnam when I set up the account and it wouldn't accept my real name. I am also a primary school teacher and a TEFL teacher. I couldn't make head nor tail from the first map. B is not opposite E in a way any native speaker would understand. B is physically connected to E. A native speaker would refer to it as next to, or beside not opposite. Native speakers understand a shop being opposite another shop as having a physical space between them, it could be internally in a mall with a walkway between them, or the opposite side of a street. As a native speaker I could not pass this test. No wonder my wife keeps getting 6.5 in these tests, they are ridiculous, contrived and divorced from the reality of how the English language is used in the real world.

Thank you for comment, I had the same feeling native English can’t do to many marks. It’s difficult but probably it’s a business take into consideration how many times and people need to repeat this test 😊

I got 25/40,i did it as if i'm sitting on an actual test,no cheating,no audio repeating.I think i can do better though.Thank you so much for the practice tests they are so helpful
I got 33/40 as i was a bit nervous and find it difficult but as soon as i start focusing its get easier btw thanks it helped me a lot in reading maps🥰
Okay, I'm a native English speaker, helping out Fang, and definitely, they screwed up the directions for 17, the climbing supplies store. Their directions are to go "up mountain round on the right until you come to the next turning on the left." Mountain road T's into Pine Street, and so to go up mountain road, you would go past the old railway line and past building A. However, I believe they intended building D to be the climbing supplies store, so the correct instruction would have been to follow Pine Street through the left turn in the road until you find the next building on your right, before the Ski passes building. Also, by the way, I don't think native English speakers, at least American English speakers, state "next turning" when giving directions.

For those who didn't get a high band, don't get discouraged. Neither do I. I had a hard time with the first two maps. Specially the second one. I understood that my problem is that I'm not familiar with the instructions (even though I know the words, but I panic at the moment). So I try to get familiar with these words and it's got better! I hope this little advise helps!

@@muhammadhusnain5142 u dunn need to understand where are u standing in first 6 questions. Hear the instruction carefully. Beginning is important in this one.
I got 33!!! gradually improving with maps, however need more practice lessons like this for maps and matching.

i got 33, thank you for this video. maps were my nightmare but not at all anymore :)
btw i noticed something, in this type of audio the speaker explain the location for a couple of time, e.g. 1.northwest of the main road 2. opposite to library 3. northwest corner of the map... those all things are about one place so you can find the answer if even you miss the beginning of the speech (i hope this tip could help someone)
Though I sometimes had to listen twice, I definitely think this video helped me a lot. This boosts my confidence for sure. Thanks loads,🥰

Ohhh 2 times is better than my case. I usually have to listen 10times and even after 10time attempts I still make mistakes. I still keep trying to make my listening better. On this upcoming Saturday is my test day. Wish Me luck. May God gives luck to everybody.

Howvto understand map as well
This is awesome!, and it built confidence on several examples. My initial score is 22/40 but grammar and accent plays the key role to make a right decision. I am sure my main exam will deserve the best. Thank you once again by collating all the different examples. Good job.

I got 37 out of 40. The plan/ map labeling was really challenging for me, but finally, I am capable of answering any question in relation to maps and plans.

finally I found someone as same score as me for the first attempt 😂. others got very high scores. but, this test is so useful for me. need to work a lot of more

I can not comprehend how map questions evaluate English language or listening skills. As I can only see that they test our memory , visualizing or imagination ability!!
This test blown up my mind. It's so difficult the narrating guy must be from other word. Who is explaining..he is making things harder

@@swethakhethavat7881 You need to thoroughly study and be able to distinguish the exact meananings of next,opposite,in front of ,etc... words like these ,it helps a lot ,and before he starts talking examine the map with as much attention as you can ,imagine if it is the area that you already know.Good luck

Thank you for uploading this video which helped me a lot because the way how the positions of buildings are described always makes me confused and eventually I fail to follow the speaker.

I have direction issues and totally get confused with the left and right which change according to the location... I scorred 28/40 after replaying the audio and still have a long way to go.

To be totally upfront, It brings me useful because all of the maps are wrapped here for practising .
Oh, Is it really a score of mine, I have just tips from IELTS channels talk about how to label to map-listening, and I did it with that tips. I got 20/40 totally :)) so happy now, and need more practice. thanks

@@jhonathan.88 I got 7.0 in my listening but it wasn’t the maps. The map was easy, it was the matching of ideas to a statement that threw me off balance. My overall score was 7.5, so I have to rewrite. Thanks for asking.

@@nasrinsultana639 okay, a simple trick is that first read all the given info on that map and understand it as fast as you can, and then listen carefully, and also why didn’t you understand it was it the speed or the words ??
@@nasrinsultana639 I can’t provide you with subtitles but I’d suggest you to watch that part again in a slower speed like 0.75x or 0.50x speed I’m sure you will get it
