Alaskan Stinson 108-3 landing on a short, rough strip near gross

- Landing over an obstacle on a lumpy, bumpy 900' grass strip with a slight headwind in variable gusty conditions. Video is taken from two different angles. Used about 550' of strip landing at around 55-60mph carry a little extra speed due to gusty conditions. Stinson 108's can't land as slow as a cub, but they love to stick to the ground and stop quickly. Aft loaded they tolerate strong braking, but of course there are limits.

Been binge watching Mountain Men and have so much respect for you and how you live thank you for sharing all your ups and downs with us and good luck for all you do in the future. Stay warm and safe from James (UK)
Awesome! Thank you!
Wish they were still on MM quit watching because of the boring storylines.
Good ole Stinson. Love mine !
Amen. Handles rough air and rough strips equally well. Love it more each time I fly it.
👍 nice landing. Hold on got a couple bumps coming up.
That was a huge Greenhouse. Whenever we're talking Mountain Man your name always comes up. You drew and shot your food extremely quickly hiking that long track to your homestead. Don't remember which Critter it was a badger perhaps
Learn to fly a taildragger. And my ultralight is a High wing taildragger. But my bush plane is a tricycle. Designed and built it myself. It has dual swing arms on each side with 16 in of travel on Fox air shocks, separate compression and rebound adjustments.
Green house is 2000 square feet
Nice landings and looks like a nice homestead there. Noticed the mill, the huge greenhouse, gardening, and some livestock fencing maybe? Anyway, glad you have the Stinson, seems like a trusty hard working plane. ☮️ Wheelchair John in Idaho USA 😎 ( Caldwell, just outside of Boise )
Yes, thanks, its been a lot of work
Excellent
I think your videos are very good keep it up
Glad you like them!
Very nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice landing!
Thanks!
Pretty Bumpy indeed
the N-S strip is smoother... but yeah, just lumpy not harsh bumps
Bought a 108-2 last summer and flew it back from Cali to the east coast. You happen to know how well 108s operate from turf/dirt on original wheels/tires?
depends on how soft the ground is... great unless its mud
hello 👍
Hello 😊
Are those 31” Bushwheels?
