5 People Try Caviar For the First Time || First Timers
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 тра 2019
- Caviar is one of the most interesting -- and misunderstood -- foods in the world. Expensive? Generally. Delicious? Well, that depends on your style. On this episode of "First Timers," we get five Thrillist staffers and caviar virgins to put their taste buds on the line, and try caviar for the first time. Results are… mixed. But their reactions are funny. And that's what really matters here, right?
Do you remember your first time? On “First Timers,” a new Thrillist series, we find people that -- for some reason -- have just never tried some really common foods: oysters, Chick-fil-A, the Impossible Burger, and more. Then, we have them try it for the first time, and film their reactions. The premise is simple, though their reactions are anything but. These people will always remember their first time. And so will you.

The first time I tried caviar was when I found some in my godfather's fridge when I was about 8 or 9 years old. I loved it and straight-up devoured several jars of it. My mother caught me in the act and almost had a heart attack. How was I supposed to know those little jars of eggs were so expensive? 😂😂😂

Godfather?

I thought you’re not supposed to use metal spoons
your not ... you use mother of pearl.
Part of people said to use wooden spoon.. I'm one of them
I heard it is silver spoon that worsens its taste
Thats funny because you probably saw the same video i did that led me to this vid. And in that video, they mentioned that. You almost sounded smart.

I like how she compared the caviar to sardines. Sardines manufacturers must be proud 😂

The pfp matches the comment very well too
I don't know about a golden spoon, but I heard it was supposed to be a pearl spoon because the metal off of spoons transfer to caviar, giving it a metallic taste.
Golden spoon would make sense in that context as gold is famously unreactive. That's why it's great for eating mango. Never tried caviar though...
I think it’ll just break the caviar 😅
Specifically it's silver that taints the flavor. Typical stainless utensils aren't a problem. Also mother of pearl and good ol plastic utensils. Although honestly don't even think it would matter here as just by looking at it, Thrillist skimped on the quality of what they purchased. Jet black small pearls like that it was probably bowfin caviar or something. Probably also explains why some of them didn't like it.
It comes in a metal jar so...
The girl with the hat thinks she’s funny, it’s high-key annoying.
Yes if you don't like it you can uh low key keep quiet about it sometimes saying something like that is just barbaric and it doesn't make sense what

Metal spoon, really? I've never had it and I know that's wrong.
It’s only silver spoons that are bad
It's in a metal can... jesus most people are literally idiots.
I've never tried caviar, but I can see caviar with my eyes and I know it definitely doesn't look like vegemite, jam, or mud.
Wait are they eating CAVIOR with a metal SPOON?
THAT ALTER’S THE TASTE
I thought there was a special spoon alongside the caviar.
@@antonpatz1064 There is, it's called Mother of Pearl.
Only if the spoon is silver. Stainless steel has no effects...
Tried Caviar for the first time Today, It's a, bit too salty but I'm a salt addict. I wouldn't eat it regularly but I would try it again.
There's beluga caviar, then there's osetra caviar, either of which will cost a couple thousand dollars for a pound. Then there's the crap caviar that Safeway and the Walmart food sections carry that is slightly better than getting salmon eggs from the sporting goods department, but not much better.
If it was too salty for a salt addict then that says alot
This is the weirdest video i've ever watch wtf
Why?
The guy evaluating it for "freshness" 😂😂😂 It is preserved and brined; it is the opposite of "fresh"! 😂 I love how people throw the word "fresh" around and don't know what the hell they're talking about. What, did he expect it to be rotten?

Man I've been looking at videos trying to get an understanding of caviar, and one thing I saw pretty quick was not to eat it with a metal spoon lol
They're using special non metalic spoons for caviar because they say it affects the taste but what about the can itself
lol
They also say you’re supposed to eat it from the back of your hand. Why? Just because apparently. Rich folks just be making stuff up
I used to sleep on caviar but now man it's my favorite snack.
I'm not turning down 11AM champagne but I definitely prefer vodka with caviar. This is a fun series. 👍

Fun fact
The citizen of the country that produces the most expensive caviar have never tasted caviar in his whole 19 years of living and he is watching this video by your side to see actually how it tastes like
No..
It goes well with smoked salmon and soft cheese on balinis apparently, I've only had it once in my life when I was a kid I can't remember what it tasted like.
You must be rich
@@thomasking428 No, quite the opposite.
The girl wearing the backwards cap looks like the person who farmed the caviar 🤣
I had black beluga caviar when I was in Moscow. I had probably only had caviar once or twice throughout the years before that. It was one of the coolest nutty + umami + semi-fishy + savory + semi sweet and deep flavored things I had ever eaten. It was fresh from Azerbaijan and was an experience I will never forget. Don't think I would pony up 25K to relive it again, but it was a gift (a very generous one) and a very cool story to tell.
I always wanted to try caviar I wonder were you can get it from

This looks so delicious, I just made a video about caviar in case you or anyone else watching this is interested
Love your video very much, there is a big caviar farm in Qiandao Lake, China. I also made a documentary for sturgeon and it was very shocking.
Chinese Caviar🤣🤣🤣
Caviar is fish eggs, rich people eat it for nothing special.
The same caviar that rich people eat spending thousands of dollars can been eaten for free at some places.
Y’all tripping with metal spoons it’s in a metal can lol
It has a thin layer of plastic in it
“Slimy salt on ah cracka” lmaoo
That black dude is enjoying his time and food hahaha like really enjoying hahah
Me eating my food I made for 3 minutes
*Oh boi I'm so good at this*
I kinda like the texture but it's just fish (sturgeon) eggs with salt
So if it tastes good, it's probably the egg
2:02 I hate my mind. I got the joke. 😂😂😂
Her: probably 99 cents
Me: probably the same amount as my electricity bill
'Bigger balls' 🤣
The metal spoon... lol
There is a HUGE difference between caviar and REAL caviar. Like completely different.
So it is good on crackers eh? Maybe I will try that some day! 😛
1:03 Incorrect, Caviar can be the roe of ANY fish, not just sturgeon
The cheeze it’s guy is my kinda guy lol
I think half of the price comes from its name. Sounds so expensive it made itself expensive
When I tried caviar for the first time, I didn't like it. I didn't like the slimy texture and the salty, fishy flavor. Maybe it is an acquired taste. However, when I tried foie gras for the first time, *OMG!* Succulent!
Well, force feeding ducks to their deaths will definitely make Foie gras succulent. 😋
I want some
I had caviar today and ...it was awful . I pretended that I love it.
Gerri Miller maybe it was substitute
Not gold spoon it's a mother of pearl spoon
Come on, it's just a fish roe. There are lots of roes with exact same flavors as black sturgeon caviar for 99 cents. I like them on a pancakes with a bit of melted cheese or quality butter.
the guy in the black shirt knows what's up
metal spoon will have a reaction on the caviar, some caviar comes with a spoon spoon made windowpane oyster shell or some might call it capiz shells
When i think of caviar...i think Oggy buying a caviar scene in the Oggy and the Cockcroaches.
On the old 1960's Batman TV show, they had a villain called Egghead who dunked Batgirl in a huge ice vat full of freeze-dried black sea sturgeon caviar.
Not a golden spoon, ugh you will ruin that rich delicious buttery flavor. Mother of pearl spoon. Also try it on potato chips with creme fraiche. Magnificent.
What kind of cracker did they use
You supposed to serve caviar with a mother of pearl spoon. The metal spoon’s don’t change the taste but they make it much lighter. So they interfere. However if you are new to caviar you may want to start with a metal spoon to block some of the salt if you don’t really like fishy things
It's ok it was like eating fish bait 🤔

It’s actually really good with goat cheese
Yeah I'll stick to the smoked sardines. Just love them! No way I'll be eating fish eggs! You all forgot Finding Nemo?
I LOVE Salmon Roe way better than the regular black eggs.
He said exactly what I always say all the time, why Cnt it be scooped with a metal spoon when it’s literally in a metal can. People say it’s bcs it crushes the balls and messes with the taste.
Thanks for the review. Not had caviar before but I think I'll stick to jam. lol
How many references to the cost can you make in one video?
I pretty much fast forwarded through this entire video.
I wanna try it I never try that before I mean ever in my life

All these people appear conflicted about eating a “rich” persons food.
I just watched 4 min of 5 people talking about rich people eating caviar
when they eat it with a metal spoon...
