Doing covid tests on my kids

- With Alice suddenly developing a cold it felt prudent to test us for Covid. How do you do a rapid antigen test on a child who has cerebral palsy and limited understanding. What about doing a covid test on a 4 year old kid?
I'm a special needs mom in the UK getting through life one coffee at a time, documenting life with two daughters, one of whom is severely disabled. Elin is a girl with cerebral palsy, she has a feeding tube, is a wheelchair user and as she can't use the toilet independently she is in a nappy / diaper.
Elin has complex medical needs and seizure disorder. She has tonic clonic, or grand mal seizures, partial focal seizures and absence seizures. She is on multiple medications every day.
On this channel I share our day to day life, our routines, feeding techniques, how Elin communicates, etc. I also showcase the relationship between Elin and her sister Alice and how I manage this by myself.

I had to do covid tests for college it was really uncomfortable I hated it but I got home testing kits to make sure that I wasn't putting any of my friends and teachers at risk but well done for being careful so elin doesn't get it

Good to see Elin and Alice having a Covid test and they came back negative. Last Thursday, I had a Covid as I volunteered just to make sure and that came back negative.

Awwwwe they both did so well! I do that little coughing thing that Elin did when I’m getting tested for the flu 😂 I thought it was so stinkin cute when Alice leaned in to hug you after she was done with the test 🥰 I really like your jacket btw!
Clearly having something stuck up her nose triggers that cough 🤣.
Alice is too adorable for my own good, she gets away with murder because she's so cute 😍.

My son is 10 and has special needs and learning disabilities. He had two one. The first one he handled ok. The second time he freaked out. He yelled and screamed. I had to hold his arms down while the doctor stuck it up his nose. I felt so bad.
It's the worst having to force your child, isn't it, Tricia? Elin takes most things in her stride, she's actually quite easygoing with this. Alice finds it harder, to be honest, and I'd hate having to hold her down for a proper test 🙀

Hi Marieke, welcome to the madhouse 😉. I'm from Sweden, came to the UK as a young adult. I speak Swedish to both girls, they both understand it, but Alice is reluctant to speak more than a few words.
What language are you speaking is it german ?

Yes
Enforcing these tests on your children is plain abusive. They are arbitrary and meaningless. What value do they even have? If you’re sick you’re sick, you do not need to take a test to tell you what you already know. Your child was visibly shaken by that test, her subtle body language at the first attempt was enough to tell me that she was very unhappy. Why are parents routinely doing this to their children. It’s sad, it’s pathetic actually and above all it’s down-right abusive. I have two young children and never in a million years would I subject them to this utter nonsense.
