I’m not stabbing cars… Always amazed me these guys constantly put various blades and mfg of GREAT BLADES through ridiculous torture test like this. 40 years in LE and military combat and never had to stab a car. Ridiculous and I think it’s bad press on a well made blade such as this.
This style of knife is designed with combat in mind. Its based off the old war daggers such as the Fairbairn - Sykes and the Applegate but also likely draws on its Italian heritage and the daggers the legendary Arditi(roughly translated "the daring ones" or "those who dare") shock troopers of WW1 used as their primary weapons. Those blades all drew directly from historic fighting daggers with one purpose and only one, combat. The points are often very thin and fragile due to the double edge design which allows for strikes on the backswing or in a grappling position allowing strikes around to the enemy's back. It also allowed for more better chance of puncture as clothes can be deceptively resilient to cuts and stabs, especially with the fabrics and clothes being worn in Europe during WW1 and WW2. Thick wool or leather jackets over 2 or 3 other layers in the cold especially at night which is when these knives were used for quiet eliminations. The name I mentioned "Fairbairn" was a real guy who taught knife and general close quarters combat to the allied forces and whos methods would be adapted into the US military training aswell, if you are interested he wrote a few books and there's a fair bit of history on his "hyper lethal" methods, more than a martial art, its a combat methodology that teaches how to be ruthlessly efficient in combat situations. Goes by a few names but "Gutter fighting" and "Defendu"(Im not joking, thats really what it has been called by some) along with his name "William Fairbairn" should be all you need to find out more(to anyone curious). The intended targets are soft like cloth, leather, wool and flesh. Stabbing, prying or swinging a fighting dagger into something hard like stone, ceramic, glass, metal, etc is easily the worst thing anyone could do to it as it would almost certainly result in the top 3rd of the blade snapping/flying off, well the more modern ones at least. Ive been really curious about their Fulcrum, sorta looks like if Lamborghini made bowies. After this though, I wonder if it will be any stronger than the Kabar.. Oh and have you ever heard of the TOPS Operator 7? I have had one and I suspect you might not be able to break it. Single edge, 0.31 blade thickness, 7.5 in blade length, 18.9oz. Damn things more of a sharpened prybar than a knife.
i know the Operator 7, i recently tested the Steel Eagle from Tops, that did pretty good, video is coming soon, thanks 4 your comment!!! You really put some work in that! cheers!
Former mountain infantryman here. Fulcrum bayonet was our standard issued knife that we used both as bayonet during training and as general purpose knife on the field. Never had the chance to smash it with a rock or to stab a steel hood of a car with the sole intention of breaking it (I had no intention to pay it back), but it served me pretty well and didn't have any issue at all even though it went throw some heavy duty work.
Try an extrema ratio fulcrum. I doubt you could even damage it xD the requiem is like the worst possible choice from extrema ratio to do hardcore durability tests with. This is a secondary knife for special operations. It’s made for stabbing through flesh and Kevlar definitely not steel. It’s actually kinda aggravating you chose this knife to test with lol. If you have the money I think testing out the fulcrum or the selvans would really change your opinion on these knives
@Just Johnny true, most of these tests are pointless information since no sane individual would actually use a knife for any of these purposes, but it is interesting to see some of the limits of some of these knifes. For example bend testing is quite useful and so is stabbing sheet metal to see if the tip breaks off easily. For example let’s say a soldier went in to stab the enemy, stabs through his vest but ends up hitting a ak magazine in a pocket, if the tip breaks off from that then it becomes pointless. Literally. The stab test is important because it’s important to have a knife with a good strong tip. A lot of these knives he tests aren’t for heavy duty or combat situations so for those knives I think these tests are a little rediculious but that’s just me
I think that the knife did not show itself badly, do not forget that this is a light 90 gram knife for concealed carry, this is not a full-fledged knife, not to mention the fact that there is a rather thin blade made of relatively hard steel. By the way, who cares, you have the Russian version of the knife, the letter R on the clinic indicates this, it differs from the European version in that it has a slightly thinner guard, 3mm instead of 3.8mm for the European version, this is due to our stupid Russian legislation, if we we want to wear a fixed blade knife, the thickness of the guard should not be thicker than 3.5mm, and if it is thicker, then a fine and a withdrawal, so for Russia they make the guard a little thinner.

The Mamba is the knive you would test like that, the Requiem is a pure combat knive, the point and the added guard shows that. The Requiem and the Mamba are designed to be worn concealed. The price is cheap for such well made knives. Автор, при всем уважении это самая хрупкая модель среди всех фиксов у Экстрема Ратио. Можно попробовать Fulcrum, Col Moschin или Dobermann IV. Если конечно есть такая возможность
When it comes to penetration any unsharpened material above the tip just slows the blade down. It’s why a tanto tip works so well for penetration. Especially those found in those Hissatsu blades by James Williams. Those penetrate most materials so effortlesly it’s scary.
Totally true. When the tip is spear point , it has to be double edged, both edges sharp, razor sharp. Having one edge not sharp, makes it actually bad at stabbing. It beats its purpose.
-Despite it's sleek geometry and false back edge it stabs like shit. This surprised me. -A knife generally either bends or break, depending on it's purpose. This one bending and breaking easily has me really confused, seems to point to uneven hardening. -I knew the knives weren't full tang, but the handles tended to be quite well attached, but a shame to see the handle break that easily though. Thanks for testing it, will probably stay away from their thinner knives, may consider their thicker full tang designs though
Would be interesting to see the Microtech Combat Troodon alsoo, which is also very overhyped. According to the ad it should handle such tests with flying colors....
Your channel is pure gold! This test made me wonder about Benchmade SOCP's penetration capability. Similar tip design but with addition of a even worse steel.
No, no, no Joe! The "Requiem" is a knife designed to penetrate not to resist shocks. It is a military knife with a very specific purpose ... It is not a knife designed for hard use. You need to review models like: "Selvans" Dobermann IV "" Rao II "KNIVES DESIGNED TO NOT DESTRUCT IN ANY OCCASION! You were smart Joe 😀!
@@joex Sure Joe, but I repeat the "requiem" is a knife that Extrema Ratio has designed to penetrate military situations. You have to test knives that Extrema Ratio has designed to withstand very tough situations: The Selvans for example, as I said, is indestructible or the Rao II a folding knife, but also the Shetland or the Dobermann IV!
I guarantee that those other blades get the same heat treat and will suffer the same consequences. I don't care how thick you make the blade or how hard or what super steel you use if the heat treat is bad then it will shatter. Some folks just like to defend having spent a lot of money on a knife. Joe x is routinely exposing these companies for who they are. For the money they want these knives should survive a nuclear blast.
Hi and thanks for the video again:-) I´m not surprised about the performance (only I expected it to be a better piercer), but because of the blade geometry, the size (mass), and the steel, it was (at least for me) expectable. Have a great day:-) FM

The side screw was actually an upgrade, because previously they had it screwed on the end, on a small pin that was attached on the tang. And it broke really fast. (Saw in other test)
I was recommended to buy Extrema Ratio DMP for N690 steel. It's a not bad high-carbon stainless steel with HRC 58. I didn't buy it in the end for the price while chose a 3V knife with cheaper price. EXTREMA RATIO REQUIEM is more like a assassin/tactical knife but survival knife. I won't expect it perform well on toughness. By the way, do you notice that the watching numbers of videos are increasing? especially this video. Probably you test a popular knife.

Thin long blade with a retention sheath? To me sounds like its made for self defense and personal carry. I can't really see this test as a reliable source. Imo you are clearly pushing this knife very far out of its intended use. It's like pushing a pistol in a sniper rifle role, is it possible? Yes, but don't expect it to perform like a rifle.
Hey Joe i have an idea! Why before you start destroying the knives don't you do a little bit of actual real use of them? Not much, you know just a couple of things like cut a rope, open a can n stuff... i believe it's gonna make your content even better...
Why would the penetration be so bad? I don't understand. It's a pointy dagger with good stabby geometry, so it should work just fine. I wonder what's up here.
@@Kaine666 Then this is the reason. The tip is too thick. It looks like a dagger. But a good dagger needs a fine tip. Or else it misses the point (pun unintended). The point being: efficient stabbing as its main goal.

EXTREMA OVERPRICED
i agree!
The Mamba is the knive you would test like that, the Requiem is a pure combat knive, the point and the added guard shows that. And even the Mamba - _even if it is designed more like a utility knive_ - is more for smaller tasks, you don't use knives of that size for things like this. The Requiem and the Mamba are designed to be worn concealed. The price is cheap for such well made knives.
The way more heavier Task C, Contact, Corvo, Fulcrum and co. from Extrema Ratio are more fitting for your Tests / Usage.
You wouldn't try to use a table knive for splitting wood, would you?

thanks!
Duró menos de lo esperado.....a ver cuando toca a alguna marca Española a ver que tal lo hacemos.
ok, maybe in the future!
When it comes to penetration any unsharpened material above the tip just slows the blade down. It’s why a tanto tip works so well for penetration. Especially those found in those Hissatsu blades by James Williams. Those penetrate most materials so effortlesly it’s scary.
thanks for the penetration info!
Totally true.
When the tip is spear point , it has to be double edged, both edges sharp, razor sharp. Having one edge not sharp, makes it actually bad at stabbing. It beats its purpose.
This is a lightweight non tool but body targeted knife. Tang is full but has bits carved out
ok cool!
Would you consider a folder? Extrema ratio bd2 contractor?
no! sorry
Thanks for testing it, will probably stay away from their thinner knives, may consider their thicker full tang designs though
thanks for your input, weird knife 4 sure!

Would be interesting to see the Microtech Combat Troodon alsoo, which is also very overhyped. According to the ad it should handle such tests with flying colors....
sure interesting!
Your channel is pure gold! This test made me wonder about Benchmade SOCP's penetration capability. Similar tip design but with addition of a even worse steel.
thanks!
In your opinion do extrema ratio hold up better than cold steel?
NOOOO WAY!!!!!
the handle dose not help stabing this old car strong iron plate, what about the seath ? looks not good for 159euro
sheath is ok, unique, kind of cool!
Honestly im yet to find a knife that can beat the price and performance of Gerber Strong arm. Literally it can hold up to anything you put it through.
yeah strongarm is cool!
You were smart Joe 😀!
i am not smart, you can see that clearly in my videos!
@@joex Sure Joe, but I repeat the "requiem" is a knife that Extrema Ratio has designed to penetrate military situations. You have to test knives that Extrema Ratio has designed to withstand very tough situations: The Selvans for example, as I said, is indestructible or the Rao II a folding knife, but also the Shetland or the Dobermann IV!
ok!
Exelente por fin los extrema ratio son realmente fuertes 💪 👍 👏 😉 👌 muy bien aver si son de verdad

i don't think so! I bought everything at lamnia.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Saw in other test)
ok!

Thin long blade with a retention sheath? To me sounds like its made for self defense and personal carry. I can't really see this test as a reliable source. Why would the penetration be so bad? I don't understand. It's a pointy dagger with good stabby geometry, so it should work just fine. I wonder what's up here.
it didn't stab too good, maybe because it is very lightweight! and it is hard to ge pressure on the blade!
I have the same one myself, it has a too thick tip (point).
On the one hand, this is a plus, since it is very difficult to break the tip, but on the other hand, it does not penetrate well.
@@Kaine666 i also have a thick tip, but i penetrate good!!!
@@Kaine666
Then this is the reason. The tip is too thick.
It looks like a dagger. But a good dagger needs a fine tip. Or else it misses the point (pun unintended). The point being: efficient stabbing as its main goal.
