    Hi Skyler, Thank you for the information it was well explained and helpful. I like that it comes with the steel plate and the grid on some lasers this is extra. Being 100% lightburn is also a good point. Thank you for the video looking forward to the next one.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    Thank you all of your laser reviews - you make it sound so easy. I've never used one - I engrave by hand with a wood burner but would like to try one.

    Hi, I recently came across your channel and love to watch your videos. You have reviewed many laser machines. I like to work with wood. I am thinking of starting engraving and cutting. What machine you recommend for a hobbyist which is best bang for dollars and also have recommended features. I dont want to waste money on very cheap machine and regret after few uses. Thanks for all the good stuff you show us. Love from Canada ❤🇨🇦❤

    Thanks for quick reply. I will check that. You have mentioned that one in your vlog. Any runner up (second option) you recommend.

    Good evening Skyler. I’ve been enjoying your videos. Novice question here but will a higher wattage laser give you a finer (more intricate detail) engraving? Or does the higher wattage really just help you cut thicker material? My woodworkers guild is looking to engrave military branch logos on veteran urns and some are very intricate.

    • @woodworkingwithSkyler
      @woodworkingwithSkyler  5 місяців тому

      Generally higher wattage means bigger spot size, less detail. The smaller the wattage, the smaller the laser spot (kerf), the more detail. however, that is not true with Xtool S1. I have the 40W and does the best engraving I have ever seen. Higher power also means faster engraving and cutting thru ticker material

      @@woodworkingwithSkyler thanks for the info as I was assuming just the opposite. And I’m also assuming most of the closed bay lasers can be elevated like you were showing with the Sain model (using built in legs or up on blocks). Thanks again and appreciate the videos

    Very nice review!! Is there any information on the expected life of the laser? If you mentioned that I missed it.

    Thanks for your review on this laser. Seems like a good machine for the cost. I wish you would do a review on the Roly 10-20 watt or the 10-30 watt.

    Great video. Nice machine. I thought it was the Roly at the beginning. Is it me or the onboard camera is crooked? The image in Lightburn sems to be.

    Through review again, if you could only have one Laser would you purchase the 40w of this brand going forward for your type of projects intrests you share? I understand if you cant comment or rank them 1-2 & 3 due to people with different uses and budgets etc. or picking prefered Manf sponsers. Seems like you really like the xTool but the main drawback is due to it not being 100% lightburn compatability? The software complexity and ease of use is a big importance for my decision getting into this tool as retiremnt is looming in the next couple of years. If XTool was 100% Lightburn compatable is that the easy choice between the Sain Smart, WeCreat and the xtool? They don't make picking one over the other easy IMO. I like the ability of the xTool's to swap 3 laser powers in the unit as well as the feed table extension for sign making? Your reviews are the best, thanks for sharing your time and knowledge Skler. I need to start a comparison list of these but struggle listing the important features to list in such table? Can you mention the maintance encountered using these tools as well? Thanks Skyler

      If I could only have one laser I would choose Xtool s1 . Not 100% compatible with lightburn but still the best laser on the market today. That’s why I chose to keep that one for my own use The day I will be switching from Xtool S1 , that will be the day I find a better laser. I am not “married “. To xtool. If I will ever review a better laser, will have no problem switching

    Hello, I just purchased and received the same unit a week ago, by chance, did you have any issues getting the camera to work? Mine won't work with the included cable, however, I did unplug the camera under the hood and plugged it directly into my laptop and it worked. So I decided to order another cable since customer support seems to be on the slow side......hoping I only received a bad cable, I really don't feel like boxing this thing up again. If you did have an issue please do share what fixed it!!! TY! Great video!

      The first machine they sent me the camera didn’t work at all. Even when bypassing the machine and plugging directly into the computer. Second machine worked perfectly.

    I noticed in your video (at 17.01) that it appears the bottom of the laser is not one solid piece, but rather completely open when the honeycomb is not in place (when you had the honeycomb laying underneath it). Then, when you lifted it up on the riser legs - it looks like everything is totally open from the riser legs down to the table and across the bottom of the machine. Did I miss something? How does the machine filter out all the smoke and debree when you are using the risers? Sorry if this is a stupid question - new to lasers and just starting to review them.

      I have one. It's good to have a little bit of opening for airflow. If it's 100% enclosed, it won't suck air. An inline fan helps pull the smoke out. I use my f1 for cups, and the little fan on that does pretty well. I've never used the risers on the L8 though.

    Thanks for another informative laser review! If you had $1000 - $1500 to spend on ANY laser on the market, which ONE would you buy? (To be used mostly for wood engraving and inlay.). BTW, I think the horse looks gorgeous just as is, the contrast with the light background is great. (Did I see the corner of a SawStop in your frame at 3:24? Lucky girl, what blade do you intend to use?)

      I would go with Xtool S1 . It’s the best laser I tested so far. Yes, saw stop arrived to the shop!

    on the S1 video i noticed you said its not very compatible with Lightburn, does Xtool have their own program?

    • @woodworkingwithSkyler
      @woodworkingwithSkyler  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes, they have Xtool creative space. It’s free and it’s really good. Xtool works in lightburn as well except for positioning tools. So you have to frame the traditional way.

    Good morning Skyler, I may have missed the info on the video, (phone is ringing off the hook today), do you know the work area of this laser? Im thinking of selling my new S1, 40 watt. Is it smaller then the S1?
