I have been wearing a Luftuaffe belt buckle since 1970, my uncle gave it to me, he got it at the surrender at Berlin, He and a German Soldier exchanged belts. It finally broke. I am 70 now and still wish I could wear it.
Please, can you make a video, how you assemble the belt?i bought a original buckle with a replica leather belt, but i dont understand how to assemble the bucklet, I don't understand where the 2 steel teeth have to being put, please can you help me?
Here it is Sept. 2021 and I'm just coming across your video. My father gave me 2 buckles that he got in WW2. Unfortunately I had one stolen by my best friend back in 1972. But the one I do have appears to be made out of brass. Now I have to go through the closet to see if I can find it. He also gave me several German patches and shoulder boards (rank insignia) he also gave me a German officers sword with a lion's head and swastika on it. The eyes on the lion appeared to be rubies . Did I tell you that I was an idiot when I was younger? The Scabbard had quite a few scratches and the black paint was fading. Yeah you guessed it!! I took it down to the bare metal and repaint it with a spray can. My nephew now has it.
I've got the one you show at 4:55 but the background is flat. not grainy like this. i wanted it since 16 years old. cuz of Ron Asheton. with 28 i traded it for only one plant of weed, by one men. it is good condition, was no leather with it, but it fit perfectly with my favorite belt, which i have from A dead friend. so that's the only belt I wear - GOTT MIT UNS.
I never clean them, i leave them in original condition. The buckles in this video are never cleaned, and still in this condition after more then 70 years. Gr Nick
Hey Im from germany and just 15 Years old. But I'm very intrested in metal detacting and WWII. For over one year now, im searching for someone to talk to and to change informations. Maybe also we can meet or thomething like that, would realy apprecheat it !
I really envy your collection of fine artifacts! I have looked, and am still looking for some of these. It's too bad that your Luftwaffe buckle was defaced, some people don't understand the importance of preserving historical items. You can't erase history by grinding off a symbol.
Thanks! I know what you mean, but in this case the swastika was grinded off during WWII, maybe used by resistance, allied forces or a German POW, so it still has an awesome story! :D But.. it's really sad if historical items like these are ruined after the war. Gr Nick
tommythecommie 621 happened to so many items. I always wonder why a GI even brought back a helmet or other item when I find a GI bring back that has the swastika scratched off or “de-nazified” why bother taking it as a souvenir of you are going to deface it, especially when you come Across a iron cross or other medals and badges that have had this done to them, why even bother keeping it in the first place if you are going to deface it and ruin the way it looks, and they wouldn’t have been thinking this way at the time of the war but, the value as well.
the surrealist Bruce Whyne all depends on condition, and rarity of variation, many uniform item went through many different variations over the course of their use, the types that were in production for shorter periods of time are typically the most valuable. Postmaster items and other Civil services/ non military combat material is typically worth less that it’s combat used equivalent. But you never know, rail road personnel gear is quite valuable as are some of the rural police items etc. so you just never know for sure. But typically a decent condition buckle with out the leather is about $75 - 100 unless it’s SS or something like that.
+Marco Ceccarelli Thanks! I got a couple for sale at www.goldeneagle-militaria.nl That's a site that i made for selling some of my stuff. Sorry but the site is Dutch so you probably can't read it..
Gr Bas
Hello, Only the buckle, or together with the belt? Still got the leather tab? A fist model Luftwaffe buckle with leather tab without the belt, the price is around 145,00 Euro's. That's around 160 USD. Gr Nick
k98100 hey I have one of the war style buckles and I'm trying to find out a little info on it. There is no makers mark that I can see on it. It has a chrome or nickel type finish to it and the weird thing about it is that the hinge is on the right side of the buckle as opposed to the left like all of yours. Any info that you could provide would be great. Thanks.
Hello, I don't know if you know me, but my name is Anna and you're really cute... Haha, you are, seriously.. ok, this video looks like you're really into bondage.... sorry, I'll stop. The really real reason is I noticed the the swastika is turned on some buckles and not on others... Example, on your steel buckle the swastika is at a 90° angle or flat, but on the Nazi youth buckle it is turned to a 45° angle... Is this merely design or was it a symbol for something? Just curious.... and thanks for sharing your collection, Anna
Thanks!! Haha, you think i don't know you? XD The reason why it's turned is because they are other models. Most of the times you see the swastika turned a little bit. I just got a subdued version of the latter Luftwaffe buckle for under 90.00

Why did someone remove swastika, it's a part of history however it was...
tommythecommie 621 happened to so many items.
The swastikas were often removed by the soldiers themselves when they went to prison for captivity
Yeah I saw a luftshultz helmet once but the swastika wasn't gone the luftshultz name was gone
Some where denazified for civilian use. The swastika is banned in Germany.
The Russians would remove markings and use the belt buckles for themselves
Would any original buckle have a "waffen ss" stamped marking on the inside? I seen one in an antique store..thanks
No
no
