exactly, I had given up my guitar playing hobby, but after seeing here the candyrat artists I did buy classical nylon string guitar from the flea market with 35 €, and started to learn finger picking and now I`m into guitar playing more than ever. Also when I play online poker I listen always those guys, it relaxes me and I play better.
Not only does this tell me how to eat an avalanch it also makes me go and seek out one to chow down on. This guy is not only called don but also simply is THE DON!!!
This instructional video on " How To Eat an Avalanche" is very helpful for ones that dont know how to just yet. For it takes time and practice to master such task. We thank you Don Ross.
looks like someone did try to eat an avalanche. and succeeded. and now, in the form of a mindblowing guitar piece, he's teaching us to follow in his footsteps. it all makes sense to me.
I just like the title of the song, well, that and the song itself. I was losing interest in guitar because I was having trouble finding good fingerstyle songs to learn. Don Ross and the Candyrat guys have inspired me to pick the guitar back up and learn new stuff again. I want to write my own songs, soon.
I can not begin to express how incredibly great this is. Yes, as was said "the right hand is a beast", but that amazing left hand is trully outstanding too. Oh, if only I had 1/10th the skill in my entire left hand as he as in just the pinky of his I'd be happy. :) I've watched all of Don Ross's posted clips and in my opinion this is the best. Bravo!
Spend 30+ years working out with a guitar to cultivate supernatural right hand strength If caught in an avanche, use that hand to quickly crush every rock into fine powder, safe to eat ! Great source of calcium, and other minerals Thanx Don !!
@Maddolis Tony lost the tips of his fingers...I can't reach the fretboard now with one finger...I've spent almost 10 years now trying to find a comfortable way to play...I can do some stuff with open and alternate tunings, but it's never gonna be the same as it was...just something I have to deal with
@putzytheape shitload of practice with the metronome set at a fraction of original tempo. then practice some more...i'm not trying to be a smartass, but this kind of playing only comes with a ton of practice. also, try to take classical guitar lessons, a lot of people who cover music like this play with their right hand in whatever positions they find comfortable (myself included) but i do feel that traditional classic guitar playing techniques lead to clearer and faster fingerpicking.
Yeah! He's tearing it up! New favorite Don Ross song.
Don Ross is amazing!
Specially this song...

@myklj999 Oh jeez, I'm very sorry to hear that.

Thanx Don !!
ha! it must be catching because its happening to me as well.
does anyone know where i can get this dvd or show from?
@HEREoverHERE
Except the avalanches are usually made of snow, not of rock :P
at 2:11 i really can feel heaven on earth :D
nota 100!!!!
Does anyone know where I can get the tab for this? I'll pay through my ears to get it.
if i ever was going to eat an avalanche this would definitely help me. haha.
Don Boss

Cool, where can I get it?
Just when I think I might pick the guitar back up, I see this...and just give up...
@myklj999 Yeah I can't imagine how painful it'd be for me to lose a finger too, but best of luck and try to make the most of what you have.
:O ......
i agree :P
It looks like a mix of Afraid to dance and Loaded, leather, moonroof to me...
that's what we call... a pro .... or a god... depends on where you live =)
@JackDawsonRMS Hahaha so true. Thumbs up
@yumpin the best are never listed. what is there to proooove? lol
if everyone knew it wouldnt be so special :)
Don Ross is the only one in the world who can eat an avalanche successfully
@bigkaboomtheory88 with chuck norris inside.
@DuskY1991 The reason I quit was losing part of a finger...just ain't the same anymore
ok...al i saw was some guy play gutiar really well...but how DO you eat an avelanche?
He looks like he ate an avelanche, lol seriously, hes heaps good haha
@myklj999 Heard of Tony Iommi?
Chances are it won't be nearly the level of stuff you'd like but there's inspiration for you right there.
man hagrid must of got bored at hogwarts and started playing guitar. ahaha I am only joking I do love Don Ross.
aww so thats how you eat an avalanche !
@lennarddudelu i founded one
Avalanches can be rocks
If I'd said snow, someone could have replied - "Avalanches are usually rocks"
good song
I still don't know how to eat an avalanche.
Go ahead and write one different then. Who cares? They all have a unique quality.
so the tuning's DADGCE?
how to eat an avalanche?one bite at a time lol
Don't bite off more than you can chew. ;)
So, this is what avalanche taste likw
give the proper hunger factor nearl any one can do it, the hard part although remains chewing, really, really fast.....
look at his left hand - hardly doing much, it's all in the right hand!
hahahahah oh that was good
Now we know. : P
@JrlinkDj Or Kyle Gass aged
Thumbs up if you searched for a "How to" video !! :P
I can handle the lefty part most of the time but the right hand part is ... serious
@roehee1234 I can't reach the fretboard with one finger, and I played for 20 years, so keep your comments to yourself unless you know the whole story
Got to take notes i guess
@yumpin he's also too big to put on a screen
I strongly suspect attempting to eat an avalanche would only end in suffocation.
@myklj999 Pick it up. This is supposed to be inspiring! ; )

hmm, plays the song to fast destroys the whole song... too sad but at least the album version isn't as fast
very baad baaad boy this don ross is......
