I just bought PMDG737 NGX and I find this tutorial extremely helpful as you have explained in good detail the step by step procedure.
very well introducted. it took me years to finallly figure it out. thank you
PMDG did an amazing job on this FMC.
I have to say: Your tutorials really help me getting some control of this endless options airplane, I strongly recommend everyone who is looking for good tutorials watching these one :D
Thanks to Josh Newman and ReNewReViews for taking the time to put together this informative and well produced tutorial video
Great information. I just purchased the 737ngx and know very little about programming the cdu. Thank you.
I've never seen a proper tutorial or good speaker when it comes to any flight videos. But I guess this is better than nothing.
Without a doubt the best FMC tutorial for the PMDG 737 I have yet to see on youtube! BRAVO!!!
Hello Mr Newman, I saw your Video while I was in my office and literally STOPPED working and just cannot wait to go home and try what you have shown. I only wish their were nice folks like you who were willing to take up a class and I would gladly pay!! Thank you very much and please do do Similar FMC based Tutorials between Europe and a North American City....Much Appreciated and looking forward to more from you sir. Themton, Toronto, Canada
Hi Josh. Very helpfull mate! I use some parts from this to explain to my students how to use the FMC and I gave them the link to your video as I think it covers it all very well. Great job!
Yes what you do to change you fuel is on the menu page select FS Actions then go to fuel you can also change the payload aswell
amazing lesson...you took a very complex subject and made it understandable...thanks
Thanks so much for your tutorial on the FMC/CDU very detail looking for more videos
The route generator really helped plan my flight on the pmdg 777 and pmdg 737
You're very welcome, might I suggest heading to a website called edi-gla, create a free account and you will have access to real world flight plans, call signs, routes etc..
Hey man, it took me 1 hr and 30 mins to watch this video, then take a lot of notes over almost every little thing you did, then go through it in my head once or twice, you really learn how to use the FMC/CDU. Great Video! Helped a lot!
Great tutorial - thank you. I can't believe people click on dislike after you have put the time and effort into sharing your knowledge. I wonder how many tutorials these people have done?
Very well done on the FMC... Thanks for helping many people.
Very nice mate. Studying the ATPLs at the minute and this helped a lot, thanks
Generally speaking, you program your arrival (even your STAR) during cruise. It's nice to be able to set it all up ahead of time (and you can get away with it if you're not simulating ATC), but that's why it's all selectable from the CDU. You just pick the best STAR for the arrival ATC wants you to do and program it in.
Awesome well described video,I destined now how to programme my fmc
Thank you for this FMC/CDU tutorial
Thanks for the thoughts you have contributed here.
You can't select a takeoff cg taking as reference the crz cg, because they are different stages of flight with different fuel weight distribution. So if you trim the aircraft for takeoff as if you where cruising, you'll need to apply lots of pressure to the yoke (push or pull)
As an alternate to entering the gate co-ordinates, you can also enter the GPS position in case you are not parked at the gate. Overall good job. Pretty well explained.
Thanks ReNewReView. I am new with this. I’d just bought 737 from PMDG and you answered me a lot of questions specially a simple one like what V1 is standard for.
V1 is basically a speed reference, so it changes with flights usually dependant upon weight of the aircraft, thrust rating of the engines etc.. you have many V references.. main ones being V1, Vr and V2.. V1 is basically the calculated speed at which you must be commited to takeoff.. so say if its 132 knots as soon as we hit 132 knots we must commit to taking off regardless of any failure. Vr is simply rotate, so obviously the speed at which the pilot would perform the takeoff rotation. V2 is the safe climbing speed which is obviously the speed at which is the minimum they shjould at least be climbing at which is safe.
Amazing tutorial! You made everything perfectly clear!
Thank you it was very helpful I'm just starting to use flight sim and need all the help I can get . Cheers for the video mate.
Simply, thank you!
This really helps... now just need to find a tablet FMC for FSX
Hi I am new to this wonderful hobby of ours and as such at times find some of the paperwork we really do need to inwardly digest very over whelming I learn most by watching rather then reading so when I find a site like yours I grab it with both hands . I have learnt more by just watching this video of yours and most certainly be watching more of them so from a 69 grey desktop flyer many thanks
thanks for posting this, this is the only video that bothered to explain the FMC. Very helpful!
Now I know what all those things on the FMC means!! Thanks!!
I am just learning this....Your video is well detailed but as a beginner to PMDG ngx,it looks a lil complicated.
Hopefully i get to know how to do this over time.
Hi, best tutorial yet, thank you. Can you tell me how to delete waypoints if ATC give me a "Direct to" and how do we add the RWY and STAR in the air? Thanks again
Excellent Tutorial you have saved me hours of headaches thanks
3 words, I LOVE YOU! Best tutorial out there! Subbed and liked!
Thank you so much. The most helpful FMC tutorial.
The SEL TEMP, is given by a serie of information, in order to use reduced power on the engines. The company makes a performance rate according to QNH and Air Temperature.
I finally understood the CDU thank you soooo muchh!
When you finish with the departure and arrivals page press the PROG page and that will tell you the cost index
When you take off, at least 500 feet above ground, or more if you wanna fly the climb, you'll press lnav (controls lateral movement) and vnav (controls vertical movement and engine thrust) located on the mcp. Press z to engage auto pilot and it'll follow the route. FYI you need to have the mcp altitude at your cruising altitude before takeoff, or it wont climb to it, as well as lowering it while in the air before decending, or it wont decend.
Great instructional video you explained it well Thank You
Thank you really short tutorial and straight foward much appreciation m8!
Thank you very much Mr. Newman. It is very clear and helped alot. Please keep on.
Thank you very much I'm glad you liked it :) more will be on the way soon
Alright drumdude, good shot bra, thanks for the informative response
Ma men. 👍Great ! Tutorial... Thanks buddy. Good job ! It helps me a lot.
Transition Alt in the U.S. is always FL180 and all that means that you're in Class A airspace which goes up to FL600. In class A, you can only be IFR and you just switch threw center controllers.
What a great tutorial! thank you for the effort. Now we need one on how to program Vnav and Lnav and what those are all about. :)
Great video! Helped me so very much :D thanks
What a brilliant tutorial, it has cleared a few things for me. I have spent the best part of 3 days trying to work it. I just have 2 questions, how do I find the best SIDS for the route I take. Example; EGLL to EIDW, runway 27R, it gives me at least 8 SIDS to choose from. Is there a site that shows the location. I looked at the free flight route, but it only shows way points not the actual SIDS.
And lastly if, I picked the wrong SIDS, how can I delete that waypoint without having to start in cold and dark to refresh FMC. I appreciate any help or your time to resolve my issues 😀👍
Thanks for this man, really appreciative.
I had the same problem too when I tried to program the FMC for a KATL to KJAX; even though I was at gate A 26, I actually had to type in gate "0". What you have to do is go into the SIDSTARS folder of your PMDG directory and click on the text file of your airport (for me it was labeled "KATL" for Atlanta). The gate numbers should be listed on the bottom.
A really good tutorial, well done :)
excellent video. really helpful.
Thank you so much for the education bruh, your video really helped me a lot. I subbed 👍🏾
Great Video Man! Thank You
this video deserves a like from every viewer :) awesome video bro
Amazingly done. Very well explained. Finally! Subbed!
Thank you very much, welcome to the channel! stay tuned, there's plenty to come soon ;)
thanks so much! this helped me!
excellent video thank u that was very good and very clear lesson thank u
Thanks for nice tutorial,,help alot
tnx alot.u deserve 2 thumbs up..it really help me
Wonderful tutorial, thank you so much!
Thanks so much it really helped! :D
16:57 ....I'd love to see a future video explaining this message and how you sort it out in the FMC so I can apply the same to different flights
please do, or just try to explain ;)
thanks
I believe that the TRIM that you enter is the take-off trim, not anything to do with trim for the whole flight. It's allows the pilot to use minimum effort on the controls when rotating. Could be wrong, though! I'm not a pilot.
Great work :)
Great Vid! Thank you helps alot!
Great video! Is it possible to have the auto pilot track the flight levels of the waypoints that are programmed into the fmc? I can't get it to do the flight levels even with lnav and vnav both working.
Very good video, good info.
Very nicely done video, mate. I love this little tool the aircraft has. It made my fsx a hell of a lot more fun ^^. I was going to buy a gps just because the default one is so annoying and faulty.
Great tutorial, can you do a tutorial on engine derate and assumed OAT?
I'm getting this for my birthday
Very nice ! Thank you so much :)
Very nice and very educational. Why LBS and not KGs though for the weights?
Check the overhead upper panel, and make sure both IRS switches are set to NAV
thank u for sharing that knowledge
thank you! you learned me how to use that damn thing
great job m8, thank you !
Great tutorial
great video! dude
u are the best guy ever
It's certainly very odd that the one time I choose to fly properly it's from cardiff, and so is the tutorial video. Thanks :)
Good Stuff Sir!! Thank you so Very Much...Keep Well.
excellent video thank you
PMDG 737 - From Cold and Dark to Ready for Taxiing
Thanks, this helped me allot! :)
great tutorial, almost like the 747. Image and sound is 10/10. Would be nice if you could make an autoland tutorial for the NGX. (approach and landing)
Yes excellent video on mcdu .You got one subscriber:)
Thank you ! I learned alot from this tutorial , but where is the link to get the flight plans and way points you said you were going to share ? did I miss it?
You are more than welcome, we see you already have had an informative response but please do not hesitate to contact us if you need anymore help :) - Josh
Very helpful video - thank you. In the video the FMC shows a message "unable Cruz alt" or something like that. You say that you would fix that error message if you were actually going to fly. Would you please tell us how to fix the error message. Thanks again.
Excellent vid, well explained. can I ask how we would know which runway we are to land on? I want to be able to put my route in while I'm at the departure airport but I don't know where to get the information from for the arrival airport until they give me the ILS runway when I'm about 50 miles out.
Hey dude thanks for your videos, they're a great help. In regards to the route finder website. If I'm using the standard FMC database, what cycle should I choose when setting up the route. As generally a lot of the newer airways etc are not in the old database so I get route discontinuity?
can you please make a video of missed approach tutorial??? because i want to know how to use the missed approach through fmc/autpilot. properly how to select its approach etc...
Thank you for your helpfull video
Thank you for your help, everything is ok, but when I take off with all programmes of the FMC this stop to work. I can't push any button. I hope your answer
Thankyou for this lovely video I had practiced stuff on FMC after repeatedly watching this and other vids however there is a massive problem on the cards just when I feel everything is ok with the LNAV and VNav switches going green my Auto-pilot does not on after Take off hence please advice what to do ? just a bit more : 1st time it did and I pretty much enjoyed it as it was following the programmed route but I missed the approach as I was too high...the 2nd time and 3rd time the Aircraft didn't bother to follow the way points and went straight on Also the auto pilot fails to turn on Thanykou
Flying route from Juanda(Surbhaya) to Sokerno-hattta(Jakarta) Aircraft PMDG-737 Boeng.
Both your videos on the PMDG 737 NGX are the best on UA-cam at the moment. Well done. Could you do one on the Auto Pilot function and modes? Thx.
Nice one mate, very thorough and well described...I've subscribed to your uploads and look forward to more tutorials. Do you do requests?
This is great, first time I've seen a really good tutorial on the FMC, by doing a in depth step by step.
