I suspect he or she would have done it as many times as needed, if you watch the airshow routine this is pretty standard for them. They push it a lot further than the Thunderbirds, and I've seen both many times. It helps that I'm within pretty easy driving range of two featuring airshows that aren't very expensive.

If anyone can sequence and isolate the original scene's audio except for the music... Hearing the afterburners fire off when the music kicks in would be just be 'chef's kiss' Magnificent.

What makes this scene in particular so heavy hitting is the shit they gave Maverick prior to it "All you've taught them so far is that its not possible" And Maverick was like "..Good point. Hold my beer." It was a moment where Maverick realised he had to lead by example and physically show them what his expectation was of them. So not only could they see it for themselves but also so they could be proven that what was being asked of them was doable.
This movie blew me away. No matter what you say about Tom's private life his dedication to cinema is incredible. I mean he can hold his breath for nearly 6 minutes, sky diving, base jumping, stunt helicopter and airplane, motorcycles ,cars, and boats. You name it . The things he does to entertain us is top class. May he continue to delight us. 🙏
I will be playing this continuously on a dedicated monitor 24/7 in my home. It's not well known but playing "Free Bird" will actually increase a fighter's speed and rate of climb, as well as improve the pilot's reactions and g-stamina.
There's actually scientific proof that good music improves pain tolerance while one is listening to it. So yeah. Freebird is scientifically proven to improve pain tolerance at the very least.
I used to work with a guy in the Air Guard who was a backseat in an F-4s. He said his favorite place in the USA was a certain ridge, that when the pilot crossed the peak, inverted, and then pulled down all they could see was the side of a mountain and they roared downward. Sort of like what happened near the end of this.
Best remake of the attack on the Death Star ever, almost wish Maverick had said “It's not impossible. I used to bullseye womp rats in my T-16 back home, they're not much bigger than two meters. Seriously though I loved Top Gun 2, thanks Tom.

I was working in eastern Oregon one summer in one of the national forests. I happened to be in an open area in the hills when I heard a roar. I looked and here was a fighter jet flying low between two hills. I could see the pilot as the plane went by.
We would often go a few miles up White's creek by Cottage Grove lake and party looking toward Eugene. Sometimes jets would fly right over our heads close like you're mentioning. That and FM rock? So much entertainment.
Sending maverick to do the mission is the most logical path to success. However….. F35 and the growler could in fact do this mission…with a lot less chance of failure.

Flew the F-16. 20 year for USAF and 20 year for Southwest Airlines when Herb Kelleher was the CEO. I gave the eulogy at his funeral in Clear Lake Iowa, August 2020 during COVID. @@polarprobe6600 They are laser guided bombs. They would still drop off with the same speed as the plane, because thats how momentum works, but they would instantly start losing speed. So there is no logical explanation as to why the bombs only hit the target once hes almost out of the pull again - unless they would be dropped with parachutes, which they didnt.

I assumed he drops 2 sets of bombs to replicate the effect of 2 planes that'll go to the actual mission
i assume those are anti ground missiles which take a while to speed up as they are basically a rocket
