The thing about this topic that really sticks in my craw is that the cost of fighting climate change is being downloaded to the working class. Why aren’t they banning private planes and luxury yachts? If they curbed the CO2 emitting habits of the rich, they’d accomplish more than they will forcing the middle and lower classes into electric vehicles and public transport. The have-nots are once again going to loose out while offsetting the lavish lifestyle of the 1%. * A quick note to readers. Many seem to have taken my comment as being in support of climate change denialism. For the record, I do believe that climate change is real. I do not believe there is some vast conspiracy by western governments to crush the poor or working class. I just think the policies they are enacting to fight climate change are poorly thought out, knee-jerk reactions that are overly influenced by the rich and powerful. We do need to address climate change. I would just like to see it done in an equitable fashion that does not crush the have-nots. So let’s stop with the conspiracy theories and engage in honest, respectful dialogue so that we may solve problems instead of tilting at windmills.
Agreed. Green-energy transport is largely the domain of the very well off. How could an average person on an average wage possibly afford the ludicrous costs of hybrid and full eco electric vehicles? They are not coming down in cost anytime soon. The cheaper ones are simply not viable as they have a pathetic range and even those are crazy expensive.
400 private planes flew into Cop26; complete and utter hypocrisy, the rich are exempt from all of these restrictions. If you wish to see the future, just look at how things were in the Soviet bloc.
These people think that if you pay for a tree to be planted it means they can drive, have deliveries, go on planes or even take their rocket into space and lecture us about pollution. The truth is those tree take years to grow and we still breath in the polluted air they contributed regardless of their tree planting. Not to mention the claim we need to get away from fossil fuel. Yet they continue to mine for all the materials needed for their eco revolution. And of course the working class pay for it.
I drive buses in Bristol, we had 2 brand new electric hybrid double decks delivered in 2016 (if I remember correctly). We also had at great expense a charging station put in for them. They installed a charging pad in the local university that you only had to park over and it would charge using nothing but which craft. The buses (I was told) cost £600,000 each, (that is 3 times the cost of the average double deck) I drove one myself, it was lovely I must admit. However, it was decided by the powers that be that they was better use in another depot across the city within six months. So at great cost they pulled up the charging station and carted it across town taking the buses with it. Around a year later the battery’s was completely knackered, the cost in fuel to carry dead batteries was eye watering, the cost to replace said batteries was biblical. Those buses have quietly disappeared, the charging station gone and the charging pad at the university painted over to try and pretend it doesn't exist. The average working life of a bus is 30 years, the working life of those two buses was less than two. Now for get the financial cost of those two buses and explain to me how the environmental cost of building and running those buses for less than two years is worth it? And extinction rebellion say I’m not educated! In the words of a teenager that should have spent more time in school than travelling the globe…. How dare you! Stu, cracking video mate. See you next week.
Funny as I followed a bus through Pill near Bristol the other day and I’m sure it was a 56 plate and I thought how old it was and how the electric version will last as long as this old thing! Now I know… i was only thinking about it as my friend has a Tesla which is 2 years old and it’s needed drive motors and wiper motor and it’s gone through 2 new screen in the dash.. he also said that once it’s 8 or 10 years old it’s useless as it’s so much to replace the batteries it won’t be worth it! My boys just passed his test and works in Bristol near the SS Great Britain and that will be a charge zone in June I think.. he drives a 30 year old and won’t be able to afford the charge so we have a plan…my brother has a Land Rover which is 50 years old which he doesn’t use with the same engine but because it’s a classic and more than 40 years old it’s exempt…so he’ll be driving that and saving close to £50 a week. It’s absolute madness and I hate Bristol now.
3 times the price, 15 times more often, colder and well I'm sure we could write a long list of reasons this is a stupid idea. Or do they have some amazing technology about to be released?
I grew up in the 1970s in a household without a car. We relied on public transport until my mid teens. When as a young adult I took out my motorbike license, my personal liberty increased exponentially and my life turned around. For the government to purposely wage war on personal transport is absolutely immoral and, I hope, political suicide.
Since both our parties are in on this (UN Agenda 2030), there is no political suicide. No matter who we vote for, we get screwed. The only difference here is that the Republicans will at least put in a little KY Jelly before they screw you; the Democrats just give it to you hard. At the end of the day, you still end up screwed; the only difference is one party gives you a "kinder, gentler screwing"...
The problem is that if a different party is elected they are unlikely to overturn any of it because it would upset the vocal minority who hide behind their utopian beliefs. There was a hysterical woman from "Insulate Britain" on telly a while back saying we have only two years to reverse climate changing policies before the lives of her children will be ruined. I wonder how their lives will look when their freedom of movement is so severely curtailed?
@@PhilipBallGarry That's the problem mate. The party that's supposed to protect the Working Class turned into toff intellectual champagne socialists decades ago. Now that the Tories are (surprise surprise) hammering working people, we great unwashed have nowhere to go.
I do not think the West can or will withstand the changes our government so carelessly is trying to install. Our infrastructure was designed around personal transportation and we have not been able to install public transportation to any degree of success. But, as you so skillfully point out, not many are concerned that if you eliminate existing ownership of any vehicle and offer no alternative, then the results will be catastrophic. It is going to get interesting … keep up the good work - your input is a savior ! Thanks again ….
@@dannyjonze The government has even started killing us, to keep us safe. Who safe are we going to be? The virus is so dangerous that the government have to shoot or beat us to death, to keep us safe.
Oh! If only I could believe that the people would rise up and tell the governments they will not stand for such nonsense, but covid has shown that the majority ot the populace are just to willing to conform and obey. God help our children is all I can say.
I am merely a man, just one person. But here goes, please don't stop the videos you're making as in 20 or 30 years when every mode of existence is dependent on the government perhaps these idiots will understand. I appreciate the time and effort you put in these videos to provide clear, concise and to the mark information to the best of your ability. My heartiest thanks!👏
Aniket Mukherjee - If you look back into history, our mode of existence has always been dependent on Governments, or further back on the ruling Monarchy. It's the way we operate and I don't see it changing.
That was a tough one to watch Mr Fillingham, very tough. Thank you for having the balls to do this in such a calm and measured way. There is no one else providing this information. Not a great subject but an essential subject all the same. The number of changes on the roads has been quite stunning since the first house arrest period, major speed limit changes, changes of priority, roads being closed, prioritising cycle and pedestrian roads, etc. It all adds up to making life difficult for the greatest cash cow the government have, the motorist. I just wonder how much longer this government will last before the general population say enough..... Please don't stop, we need to know this stuff. Many thanks.
trouble is EVERY political party is on the same wavelength unfortunately.Cars and bikes are demonized and are an easy target for radical left councils to raise cash.It wont stop no matter who you vote for.
Everything you just said Stu, I agree with. I live within Greater Manchester’s Clean Air Zone to be. I’ve been talking to the missus recently about packing up and moving out to the countryside (fortunately I work in Buxton). Just so we can maintain a happy petrol powered existence, in the face of the approaching steamroller of urban super taxation and dystopian electric madness. The way it’s all heading, I can see us free folk reduced to riding around the hills on 125cc bikes laden with jerry cans, carrying out raids on central fuel depots ala Mad Max. At least it will be more interesting than watching Eastenders 4 times a week and Strictly at weekends.
I think you are quite correct Stuart when saying that the movement to electric vehicles will be much quicker than Government time lines. Part of that is legacy manufactures are now only starting to realise that if they don’t get their finger out and move to fully electric then they won’t be here in a few years as Chinese manufacturers along with the likes of Tesla will have the marked swamped with very good quality electric vehicles. If they sat back and waited until 2030 it would be game over for them. Even at the minute I believe from this year the likes of the Peugeot 106/Citron C1 will only be available as Electric vehicles and the Smart fortwo went that way last year. It will be a bigger struggle for motorcycle manufacturers due to battery technology not being quite there yet as far as range for the size of battery that you can put in a bike but it’s coming down the road and our love for combustion engines won’t stop it. I’m now 62 years old and have owned and ridden motorcycle of one shape or another since I was 16 so I will probably be able to finish my biking life on my beloved petrol burning machines but I have to feel sorry for future generations who are going to miss out on the joys of driving or riding combustion powered vehicles. Keep up the good work! 🙂
Keep going Stu i am right behind you on these issues i wish we could collectively make a stand against the establishment to block this stupidity .The more this information is out there the better .
The big issue with the electric vehicle movement is simply that the vast majority of working class people will not be able to afford them. Whereas at the moment you can pick up a petrol/diesel car for under five thousand pounds and some good ones for much less than that. Run them for a year or two that will not happen with electric because even if they ever get to that low price bracket the batteries will be done and are prohibitively expensive to replace. Add on to that where on earth can normal people living in flats or even crowded council schemes, charge these vehicles. So the working people cannot get to work because in reality many people work shifts and public transport does not meet the demands. I hear you say cycle or walk. Not possible for many rural communities and even in larger cities the distances can be too far for walking or cycling especially in poor weather. God (or whoever you pray to) help us all.
@Advanced Driving I'd sprinkle sharp objects all over the roads so they can all get flat tyres. If I can't use the road, I'll make sure nobody else gets to enjoy it.
I've only just come across your channel in the last 2 months. I've been telling people about the changes to motoring and transport for years. The blank stares on their faces is very common, all they have to do is read some (not all) government documents and it's there in black and white the massive changes to be implemented. Keep going with the channel you talk a lot of common sense. Regards Peter.
Working class people like myself couldn't afford the charges, but neither could we afford an electric vehicle. This is appalling. I bought a new himalayan with the thought that buy the time my son is 17 he could ride it. He is 14 and I dread to think what insurance companies and tax etc will do to stop him. This is dictatorship gone mad in a democratic country. Democratic, that's a joke.
For decades, political systems such as the one in the U.K. have been Democratic Dictatorships ... we vote them in (democracy) they tell us what we are going to do (dictatorship). The only difference between us and tin pot countries is that we get to choose our dictators every four years !.
We need to be more bolshy like the French. Their Gillette Jaune protests put the mockers on Macron's attempts at hiking up Fuel taxes etc. and instead he now has to concentrate on banning single use plastic plates and making official government meals more Veggie. Meanwhile, us Brits will just sit back and take it.
The western-World is the one that don't care about anything. And only want to squeeze all the money and power they can, out of the people. And probably leve us to die, when they don't bather to get anymore from us. Just as they did in Russia. They left Russia with more money then most country's have. They can live like Kings for 5 lifetimes on that money. What do they care about us small people.
So what do u think india and china should do , western world is the reason for the climate change , china and india could the not pollute the world even if they wanted to when compared to pollution caused by western world . U may have a clean environment today but that is because UK and Europe sends ships full of waste to dispose in indo Pacific , Instead of treating that waste .
Time is now to vote these do gooding councils, government taxpayer trough feeding anti fossil fuel people out.. We must act sooner rather than later, simple it's not getting any better.. Thank you for you brilliant view on this.. 👍👍👍👍
Stu I totally agree with everything you say. The sad thing is so many can't see what is coming. Public transport is a farce, only today I checked on trains to Bedford, to see so many have been cancelled owing to staff shortages. I am so glad I'm retired.
These changes are already affecting the prices of classic vehicles. I keep an eye on the prices of certain classic motorcycles that I covet, and what I am seeing is that they are not selling and if they do, the price is falling. As most people who buy classics do so as an investment (probably, along with property, the only worthwhile investment available now) then the prices may tumble.
Stuart please try to ignore negative comments, i know it can be difficult but the information you supply is greatly appreciated by some of us and information is just that and its up to the individuals as to whether they accept it or not.
Interesting, from foot to horse to steam to internal combustion across time we love to travel, personal autonomous travel, we are now in a place where the powers that should not be have other ideas for us including the curtailing of our pleasures and freedoms and you walk the razors edge very well here saying the way it is, now is the the time to stand or we loose what we have.
Thanks Stu. Good vid, albeit a hard topic to cover as many don’t want to accept or face up to where we’re headed Keep the honest information coming and hopefully more wake up. Sad times indeed.
Well Stuart that was certainly enlightening, unfortunately I think you're Spot on, I don't think these councils realise how catastrophic this is going to be in regard to already struggling shops and business owners....
I got caught earlier this year when visiting a client in London on a Saturday. I had previously visited him 6 months earlier on a Saturday, as the congestion charge was 5 days a week (Mon to Fri). About 10 days later I got an £80 fine through the post inciting that I had driven into a congestion charging area and not paid the fee. There was no opportunity to pay the fee, just a hefty fine. I checked on line and found London had changed their policy and it was now 7 days a week charging instead of 5 days a week. Not living in London I was not aware the charging had changed. To say I was furious was an understatement so I can see where you are going with this Stuart. Not sure where it is all going to end, but there are enormous numbers of people who rely on our current way of life with cars, bikes etc and if that all ends there will be large numbers who will be out of work... Finally, have you seen the CO2 emissions produced when someone like Ronaldo posts on Instagram. It produces more CO2 than the entire F1 circus for a good number of years, but no one mentions that!
@@rik2422 So the CO2 saved by lower car use was equivalent to the increase in CO2 by more people heating their houses and producing additional electricity for all the extra Zoom sessions and running large data centres that store all our backed up pictures and social media etc. etc.
Wouldn't it be nice if the ministers had to ride a freezing bus to go to work then we could see how THEY would like the rules they make for others to follow. You are also right nobody will be able to travel or move around the country. Meanwhile China will continue to pollute and all the other offenders will offend. Glad I won't have to see it but the little ones will be the ones who suffer. It will be the 16th century all over again :(
I think they have so much shorter dfistances to travel they use their luxury electric cars with all the should I say, amenities... I think if we here in the lazy and degenerated Europe would cease to work, consume and even exist now immediately, it would have no effect on the climate change and co2 (and other) emissions. I think even people like Greta Thunberg would not be happy then! Maybe she now thinks it would be a happy day but she would be disappointed.
Please keep this channel going. Certainly food for thought . It’s actually mind boggling the path we’re all being led down, don’t actually understand the powers above mentality.Hopefully something will change to stop this madness. Keep up the good work.👍
I can definitely see everything you are predicting becoming a reality, Stuart. All you mention, coupled with the upcoming 'Parking on the pavement' legislation, will be catastrophic for personal travel in this country. There seems to be an agenda to take us back to pre-Victorian times but without the job opportunities close to home. One of my concerns is the lack of any political opposition to keep our way of life as we know it. Once the pavement parking legislation is passed, then the congestion it will cause will give the people in power yet another argument against vehicle ownership. For once, I feel lucky to be early 60's so I won't be around to see the long term effects of such measures. Keep up the great work in informing us of all these changes. I hope you can see a direction the channel needs to take. Better to have your channel available than not at all.
I am no friend of this 🌎 Stuart! What’s going to happen to the 100 or so MC and1000 or so MCC clubs? It will cause problems I think and I’m becoming more like mad Max every day. I’m so glad I’ve had exactly 40 years on the iron horse and glad I’m on the wrong side of 50. Great channel Stuart.
If I were currently an Oxford resident in the 'exclusion' zone as you so wonderfully put it, my course of action would be to flog my house for whatever reduced value I can get for it, and shove off somewhere that doesn't have this toll charge. I'll take my tradesman's earned skills with me. I'll then be able to go to my local shops and do my shopping at somewhat reduced prices. It was very noticeable after London introduced their so-called 'congestion charge' that it was no such thing, it was a toll charge for using roads that you have already paid for, and it was just an empire building exercise to pay the senior executives higher salaries. Woe betide the Oxford resident who has a boiler breakdown - if I were called to fix it, that would incur an immediate £20 increase in my call out charge. And if I can't park my van near their property to carry tools and materials to the job, it would be an extra £150 call out charge or an extra £250 a day because I would have to employ a lad just to drive the van round and round in circles while I do the job.
As always Stu, a carefully considered and logically presented video from you. I have forwarded this to family members who need to see this. I remember the old saying ' going to hell in a handcart' and the powers that be need to carefully consider the problems that such policies would create.
Stu you have a very interesting take on the state of play regarding transport and propulsion. Regreattably I think you're correct and councils wil regard these emission zones as another cash cow. In Scotland, the Scottish 'government' as they style themselves have already reprived councils of £350M (approx) no doubt to fund their independence nightmare and where is this coming from? Well it won't take too many guesses. 1)Hikes in council tax 2) Other 'clean' zones like being able to park your car on your drive or even on the road (we already have a limited parking scheme in progress and it won't take too long fo them to add a cost to this apart from fines). I doubt if even my hybrid CR-V will qualify. Government ministers of course will be exempt and able to charge fines and use of emission free areas to expenses. So they can with impunity impose these restrictions and costs without personal penalty. It's like a Soviet style takeover, with Zil lanes etc.
Congestion charging for lorries delivering to Sheffield city centre shops in the future won't be a problem, Sheffield Council are doing their best to make sure there are no shops left in the centre to deliver to!
Again Stuart I agree with you. You made a very good research and your economical conclusions are correct. In our country, Germany Europe, Emission classes since 07/92 Euro 1, since 01/96 Euro 2, 01/2000 Euro 3, 01/05 Euro 4, 09/2009/2011 (?) Euro 5, 09/2014/2017 Euro 6 respectively subdivided into A, B...D and so on . (by Allianz Direkt) Governm. forced nobody to sell, but they always increased the yearly taxes you had to pay for the older emission classes. Petrol tax was continuously increased as well. Additionally from 21 the CO2 Prices Germany (not called Taxes what they are) CO2-Preis, pro Tonne CO2 in Euro Benzin (ct/l) Diesel (ct/l) Heizöl (ct/l) Erdgas (ct/ 10 kWh*) 2021 25 7,0 7,9 7,9 6 2022 30 8,4 9,5 9,4 7 2023 35 9,9 11,1 11,0 8 2024 45 12,7 14,2 14,2 11 2025 55 15,5 17,4 17,3 13 (sorry for not being in line) regardless how the price per barrel is going to develope, these special taxes will be put on top. (BMVU) In reality already in 2021 the price increase for Petrol Benzin was far more than the 7 Ct./Liter they claimed. All major car producers are going to stop combustion engine production soon and will leave Germany, (BMW going to China) Many european motorcycle Brand Names are produced in China, Taiwan and India anyway since longer time. Car sales here dropped down to 1960 level, around 30% less . How does this affect the desicion of those who know the problems ? The maintenance costs rise rapidly and the income becomes rather low. (Due to less high paid works in Industrie, mass unemployment there) You should overthink three times at least before buying a new "petrol" vehicle. And that´s what they want you to do ! I think the traditional market will collapse very soon. I didn´t expect my old days becoming such sh*
Screw their stupid communist emissions standards ( while China gets a pass )....it is not about clean air. Until we wake up , unless we wake up you are correct about your/ our "Old "days...
You realize you’re making many good points and using common sense. They will try to silence your UA-cam channel. I figure whatever happens in the EU and UK will be coming to the states sooner or later and, sadly, I see no backbone only sheep in my fellow Americans. Thanks for bringing this to light!
Thanks Stuart for doing this video, you are absolutely spot on with what is happening.I cannot understand why other channel aren’t shouting this from the rooftops, either they are unaware or just scared to admit the truth. Lobbying MP’s is important but I have found they tow the party line usually.Incidentally I live fairly near Oxford and it’s not worth bothering to take a car in to town, that said there are good local bus services, but coming from a distance, you are pushed into park and ride (not cheap) or rail if you live near a station.
Nahthen from Lincoln. Thank you Stuart, such an insightful and helpful video. I implore you, take no notice of your critics (water off a duck's back) and ignore them. I can categorically assure you, many of us - the vast majority who tune in - enjoy and potentially rely on you and sources like you to stay ahead of the game. Whether we agree with every nuance of your conclusions or not is unimportant. Please keep up your good work an keep giving us this content - it is hugely appreciated, I assure you!
Happy new year, Stu - and many, many thanks for another excellent informative video. It is scary that those in power (with their hangers-on and brown-envelope receivers), have so much clout in the very issues which will become detrimental to our way of living. As you described nicely; these green issues are a runaway train. If only us Brits were more vocal (or more willing to be more active) in protesting against all this nonsense. I live in a rural area with a bus service which runs only a couple of times a day (nothing on Sundays) and am totally dependent on personal transport. Anyway thanks again.
I would have to walk a mile just to get to a bus route, on an unlit road with no pavements, pleasant on a sunny day but yesterday in the freezing cold driving snow - not going to happen, having got your shopping its then a walk back, or do I get in my car, warm, dry, safe, and two bags of shopping.
Thanks for another informative video Stu. Quite a depressing one to go with my tea a biccies this morning, but such an important subject. It seems like we're heading back to the early days of motoring, where basically only the uber rich could afford that luxury. But at least then, there were masses of train lines all over the country for people to get about. I can only see the cost of living and inflation sky rocket, as businesses pass on their increased transport running costs to us, making it even less likely for the less well off being able to afford personal transport. I wonder if the blinkered head in the sand masses would take notice if the government banned them from jumping on a plane and heading off on holiday, because that's not environmentally friendly 🤔
Thanks for cheering me up mate lol, I've been commenting on your vids for years, Happy New Year to you, well, being 70 years old and having enjoyed motorcycling since 1968, it looks like the future don't look great for the youngsters, nothing much an old man like me can do about it, except whilst I've still got breath in my body, continue to ride the back roads on my old bikes as long as I am able to fill up with petrol. hopefully for quite a few more years, not ready to chuck the towel in yet! anyway, hope you continue your channel, a.t.b. Dave
If you get the message to one percent of your followers then you have justified the hard work you put into the channel and I applaud you for it .I think those of us who do any research and have our eyes wide open can see the truth you say . if anyone one on here disbelieves, just research the various connected legislation coming to the common man it this country and the west in general not just travel but also personal freedoms from cities introducing entering cities in vehicles to big tech tech censoring speech to the Governments laws on protesting
I understand, what is going on, if that is happening in UK , sooner or later it will be replicated in India too, already govt is pushing hard on ethanol blending. I might have to let go of my 2 stroke , so that I still be able to fetch some cash from it , before it gets sold as per kilo rate for scrap
Fred (Dunhill, if I remember correctly), one of the founders of MAG, WW2 veteran, fought for freedom, died in prison. Can't beat the system. Big Brother is watching you. ! Make the most of what you've got left.
Well I have decided this year to start installing a solar power back up to my home as I predict the next problem looming is going to be power cuts through lack of national power.
Unfortunately not practical in these latitudes - even with wind backup you'll struggle to get more than 25 or so KWh at this time of year even with maximum sunlight and decent wind (3KW solar and 300W small turbine). You'll need 5 KWh of batteries that will last you about an evening if your'e careful and don't use any electric heating or cooking. We tried it with a 2KW solar plant (no wind) and the battery would take 2 days to charge in winter and last about 4 hours. Summer charging took 4 hours. You'll need lithium ion batteries to cope with the continuous high charge currents (we used lead acid deep discharge leisure batteries which died after 3 months) - last time I checked 5KWh of lithium ion battery was about £2500. Would work, though, with burning solid fuel or gas, using LED bulbs everywhere, and going to bed early - with the push towards electric everything, though, not so well. No getting away from the power cuts, though - the cynic might suggest that smart meters will be used to "control" demand using their built in contactors. So no charging your shiny new EV or running your super new heat pump either.
Dont waste your money mate,i have a 4 kw set on my south facing roof, this time of year it barely generates 600 w,at height of summer on cloudless day the best ive seen is 3.2 kw,very inefficient way of producing electricity in this country
Hi Uncle Stu. Firstly I'm glad you had a break and I'm glad you are back. I've enjoyed your channel for a while now and I've still got many to catch up on historical to me subscribing. I believe many will see your content as Penny Lenny Sky falling in stuff. But actually, people need to wake up. Sad to say, that they probably won't. But keep the truth coming, you are in a country that has fought tyranny for a very long time.
Hi Stuart, I do hope your channel doesn’t change too much, Your videos on motorcycle maintenance and care are some of the best I’ve seen. I really enjoyed your journeys on your Bullet and your occasional watch reviews. Your one of the reasons I bought my Interceptor. You are absolutely right that diesel and petrol car sales will decline. Although I’m probably a tad more optimistic and can see there being a future for traditional bikes and classic cars for some time to come. Oxford have been trying to stop cars coming into the city for over 25 years so their policies are not new, and as you point out fall in line with many UK and European cities. In the meantime more of the motorcycle lifestyle content would be good! Cheers
Thanks Stuart for explaining whats realy going on. I was feeling alone in this progressively deteriorating society. Good to know that there are more seeing folks around. But that said, it scares the living day light out of me.
Thank you so much for putting this video together. I have also just watched your video about Oxford congestion charge and petrol vehicle extinction. I appreciate the time you have invested to thoroughly research these topics and to present them in a clear and cohesive way. It is frightening to see the power and momentum of political initiative and motivation without adequate inclusion of public input and dialogue. Again many thanks, my wife and I found it very interesting. Stuart.
Whatever direction you go in please keep creating content and providing us with your thought and wisdom, the voice of reason needs to be heard. Thanks for your great and informative content so far bringing issues into context we mear mortals can relate to, all the best Sir.
Looking at environmental costs of mass conversion to electric power, already China has tens of thousands of tons of spent battery waste that no-one knows how to dispose of. Imagine the amount of battery waste when tens of millions of people are driving/riding these things. Eco transport is a conceit of the very well off, and economies of scale are not going to reduce the price of EVs that much. The bike industry must fight back by stopping the production of excessively powerful road bikes in favour of efficient, light and frugal machines, but sadly it does the opposite in the main, producing ever more ridiculously over-powered machines that are completely unsuitable for roads that have a 70-80 mph speed limit. ... Eco fanatics keep forgetting that mass transport using electricity is a whole different concept from a few thousand privileged people driving around in expensive EVs. When 100 million people are driving/riding them, where is the electricity going to come from? FOSSIL FUELS of course! Electricity doesn't grow on trees. A small, efficient internal combustion-engined motorcycle doesn't need a plug-in power source, and arguably the net fuel used, ie: petrol vs fossil fuel produced electricity is almost indistinguishable. Various studies have shown the the environmental advantage of the latter is negligible. Have a good rest Stuart and don't get too wound up. Happy new year to you!
Fingerhorn4 - I do so agree about the bike industry producing ridiculous big motorcycles! But they are pandering to customers who appear to be man-made climate change denyers in order to justify their presumed right to do as they please. The move from petrol and diesel is inevitable, despite the petrolheads protests. It won't be easy either. - Chris.
@@Shiplap4 Electricity does grow on trees. They grow in the US, get chipped and shipped to Drax where they are burnt to produce steam to drive the turbines. How that is more green than digging coal out of Yorkshire and using that at Drax is anyone's guess.
@@ChrisJohnson-pd4hh I don't think over-powered bikes is much to do with "denying" anything. I just think retailers and manufacturers, driven by the biking media, feel pushed into making ever more ridiculously over-powered machines to gain market share. Many riders are also guilty of this mindset when they write-off anything with less than 80-90 bhp. It's a macho thing. Non UK Europeans are much more grown up, which is why they buy thousands of scooters and more sensible bikes. Millions of teenage (male) bikers grow up with the ambition of getting a "big" bike as soon as possible, which is why a scary number of them end up dead.
I’m going full Amish and getting a horse and buggy! Just looking at the availability of a electric replacement for my Vespa just to commute 50 miles round trip is near impossible let alone touring the Highlands and Islands which l use it for in summer. Those countries which carry on with industrialisation will view us as weak and possible expansion zones . Can you imagine the Battle of Britain with electric planes? ‘ Hold on smithy, just waiting for the old crate to charge and we’ll give Jerry a pasting!’
@@martinowl They will then regulate that as well...... communist ideas must be stopped, starting at the local level. Do you really want to live like this ? Then do not..
Thanks for being bold enough to address these growing problems with government control over us. I hope you don't get canceled because of this. It seems that even 'free' countries like the US, UK, and Australia are submitting to over reach by our governments with little resistance. It is all rather scary.
Stewart. You hit that nail firmly on its head! Recently I went to hospital for an MRI Scan. The cab that brought me home was an all electric vehicle. It was a very cold February evening and I asked the driver if he could turn the heating on. Sorry he said, if I do I may not have enough power to get back to the office! One other point. I was 13 years old when I was adopted by some of the British motorcycles who lived locally. They were in there mid 20's to early 30's. I spent many a cold but happy and enjoyable winters evening or weekend in a garage with a log burner or an old paraffin heater for heat as one by one engines were stripped and rebuilt, or customised to a riders choice. Something not learned in schools or the bonding or community building that went with it. Later in my 30's I bought my first Japanese super bike. And although I was a bit of a loan rider by this stage, it didn't take long before a new generation of mates were created all thanks to my ability to service these bikes and owning my own strobe light and vacuum gages. And on the other side of this equation, my wife met new friends and as we worked in a cold garage doing a cam or clutch replacement, the wife's would be cooking a roast meal for 10 or 12 people. Most of my childhood mates are gone now. Cancer, road traffic accidents in which that "I never saw the motorcycle" was the 'go to excuse was used. Or they moved out of London because of the overcrowding and seeing where this conjestion charge was leading to. All these friendships and rides out together to say a drag race for example will soon be lost. And if government thinks we can all work from home thanks to the Internet, then they really do have there heads buried in the sand! And one of the reason why so many people do favour personalise transport is simple. Speaking from experience how many times have I been on public transport and got ill with people coughing or sneezing all over you! Or you end up with some abusive nutter sitting near you? We all know that other failed government policy care in the community doesn't work. Yet still we have it coz it's cheaper than providing proper publicity funded services. Finally 1996 our holiday to Scotland went belly up before we went anywhere. The train was cancilled and we waited hours for a replacement. By time we got going I could have been through Manchester if I'd have been on my motorcycle or in my car, less another lorry had overturned on the motorway. Tell me Stewart ever wondered why so many road bypass schemes keep being put back? Or motorway widening schemes havant happened? That's because governments work on plans 10, 20 or even 30 years in advance. And they have known since the 1970's that oil was a limited resource and once expired, what then? So in conclusion too many policy changes too late while charging the public for government failing.
Hi Stuart, try not to loose heart, it certainly seems a very depressing prospect. Perhaps a campaign of civil disobedience will ensue once people realise what they are really giving up. When it dawns on them they are being bullied into a certain position which when it comes to it will be extremely uncomfortable for most i imagen. Here in Australia the petrol vehicle will i hope remain longer as the infrastructure to transport food and livestock from the farms etc in the outback will never be an economic prospect. Fingers crossed.
My kids do appear to support many of the green issues. Perhaps we as a group of petrol powered motorcycle owners are an endangered species? In this new dystopian world the bikes we can no longer aford to use will be 'upcycled' into furniture or art. We are desined to gather around coffee tables in care homes reminiscing the good times, while many younger folks will blame us for the world's woes.
I was talking to a young couple the other day about this. They have a baby and rent their own flat but neither drive or have any desire to do so, stating it s too expensive and too much trouble. I asked how they manage to get to the supermarkets to do a big shop etc. Simple answer, they get their parents to take them in their cars or even do their shopping for them!
@@stuartfillingham Mine do have petrol cars and cycles. They desire electric cars. Both work but see me as a bit of a dinosaur with out dated attitudes. Times are changing Stuart, I will continue to love and cherish my motorcycles as long as possible.
If an apartment building has lets say 250 people with 250 electric cars and they come home and all need to recharge for the next days use where do they all plug in? They never bring this up ...
When will it dawn on them that people need their cars to get to work? How will carers, nurses etc working shifts and not on high wages manage, not to mention all the people who care for relatives and need to get to them at any time, sometimes urgently?

Got done in Brum October, first time there for 25 years and an area i used to live decades before that. £120 reduced to £60 if paid within 2 weeks fine for going a mere 42 yards inside clean air zone i hadnt a clue about until the corrupt letter came. Point is new to the area, looking for a road and business but not only that a van parked triple abreast with doors and driver door wide open, kid you not missed the yellow cameras. Eventually made a complaint and appeal not expecting to win just have my say. This was to help out a new business paying business rates and taxes to that corrupt council, stated and you wonder why no ones visiting my money will now be spent supporting non corrupt council in other areas.
the problem is 10s of millions of car drivers are blissfully unaware what is coming , when they find out there is going to be serious ramifications for which ever party is holding the reins
I'm glad I'm nearing the end of my four wheeled driving life, but I'm tempted to buy a MASH 650 dirt tracker to hoot around on. I'd better hurry up if I want one because being an air/oil cooled motor, it will no doubt fail the next round of EU emissions regs. I seem to remember a time when we were free. All I feel now is persecuted. I wish governments would govern on our behalf, instead of listening to pressure groups, lobbyists, and mad scientists.
Stuart, I think the issues facing densely populated areas of the world are somewhat different to places like Australia where we face the tyranny of distance between places. Some folk here travel long distances for work and public transport is not an option. compared to the UK and Europe our public transport is woeful and in poor condition, because we do not see the volume of people using it so it is heavily Government subsidised. Fossil fuels are a finite resource and the focus on alternative energy sources for light transport show us that fossil fuels are running out.
I have shared and positivity promoted the petition you mentioned and now has over 100k signatures 😊 I also filled in the government consultation thing online and also joined MAG. My son works in the industry and I have been riding on the road since 1989 which I do not want to give up!!!!
Please keep it up Stuart, it’s brilliant content and very informative. I’ve been talking about this subject for years now and in all honesty it’s been like banging my head against a brick wall… now it’s all coming true!
Well said. Totally agree with what you are saying. It’s about time the the rest of the British public took note of these damn congestion zones springing up everywhere, and tell the government and councils, enough is enough. If all drivers of petrol and diesel vehicles together said “no” and refuse to pay these stealth taxes, there is no way the councils could afford to employ enough people to collect these charges and confiscate all the vehicles. Drivers need to stand up to all of this nonsense, which like you say, has definitely got out of hand. It’s about time we all make a stand against this.
Don’t give up the fight Stuart ! I didn’t realise any of this until I watched your UA-cam channel. I have since subscribed & I’m spreading the word to anyone who will listen... some people really believe that Electricity is ‘ Green Energy ‘ , & Batteries & Power Cells must grow on Trees!!

I live in a very rural area and cycle to work. That's no problem, I enjoy it. But....I have kids that live 38km away and to get them to school on the days I have them would be a 5 hour round trip on public transport and the first bus doesn't start running until 8:48. Totally unworkable!

DM, we in the US are only a few years behind Europe and the UK. CA has banned the sale of ICEVs after 2035, so it's already started. As CA goes, so goes the US...
The problem is that even in carbon terms replacing existing vehicles with new electric ones, whether you’re a private owner or a logistic company or a bus company , it’s going to be way more carbon intensive than using petrol with an existing fleet. Which defeats the carbon argument itself. Then there are the other obvious problems of range, non existing or malfunctioning charging infrastructure and quick obsolescence of electric vehicles themselves. Oh, I forgot the lack of incentives. Cheers, happy new year!! 😱
Thank you for doing these very informative videos, I have learned a lot from them, thankfully I live out in the sticks in Cornwall and very rarely need to go into large town but is getting very scary with what this Government is doing. Please keep up the great work you do.
Great video and interesting insight. It’s very quickly becoming apparent that the pandemic restrictions are not about health and the transport programme is not about the environment. Society as we know it is being broken down to be rebuilt with something more sinister. The common denominator is free will or choice. Some call it “The great reset”!
CO2, at 0.04% of Earth’s atmosphere, does not need reducing. Fact is, more CO2 would be good
400 private planes flew into Cop26; complete and utter hypocrisy, the rich are exempt from all of these restrictions. If you wish to see the future, just look at how things were in the Soviet bloc.
Climate change is a myth concocted to tax us out of existence.
Respect!

And eventually, the transportless peasants will be herded into Smart Cities and will be be entirely reliant on public transport.

They need a brain to build a smart city… They don't have that. Because then they would not do this.

Working class people like myself couldn't afford the charges, but neither could we afford an electric vehicle. This is appalling.

I think I heard 120,000 people have moved out of London since the pandemic. Working from home/getting other jobs and their not coming back.
I only see hairdressers every where now. Even the coffee shops are closing.
Again Stuart I agree with you. You made a very good research and your economical conclusions are correct. In our country, Germany Europe, Emission classes
since 07/92 Euro 1, since 01/96 Euro 2, 01/2000 Euro 3, 01/05 Euro 4, 09/2009/2011 (?) Euro 5, 09/2014/2017 Euro 6 respectively
subdivided into A, B...D and so on . (by Allianz Direkt)
Governm. forced nobody to sell, but they always increased the yearly taxes you had to pay for the older emission classes.
Petrol tax was continuously increased as well. Additionally from 21 the CO2 Prices Germany (not called Taxes what they are)
CO2-Preis, pro Tonne CO2 in Euro Benzin (ct/l) Diesel (ct/l) Heizöl (ct/l) Erdgas (ct/ 10 kWh*)
2021 25 7,0 7,9 7,9 6
2022 30 8,4 9,5 9,4 7
2023 35 9,9 11,1 11,0 8
2024 45 12,7 14,2 14,2 11
2025 55 15,5 17,4 17,3 13 (sorry for not being in line)
regardless how the price per barrel is going to develope, these special taxes will be put on top. (BMVU)
In reality already in 2021 the price increase for Petrol Benzin was far more than the 7 Ct./Liter they claimed.
All major car producers are going to stop combustion engine production soon and will leave Germany, (BMW going to China)
Many european motorcycle Brand Names are produced in China, Taiwan and India anyway since longer time.
Car sales here dropped down to 1960 level, around 30% less .
How does this affect the desicion of those who know the problems ?
The maintenance costs rise rapidly and the income becomes rather low. (Due to less high paid works in Industrie, mass unemployment there)
You should overthink three times at least before buying a new "petrol" vehicle.
I hate what the world is going to become. This zero emission scam. They should invest 8n eFuel instead of soulless EVs.
Will the last person to leave the UK, please turn off the lights!☹
I'm guessing that some of the top bike channels don't want to be defunded and say "cheerio" to their six figure income just yet.
Please keep up your good work Stuart, it lifts our heads the sand. Despite the depressing topics I still enjoy your clear and logical presentation.
I certainly hope this is challenged, and at some point the government are forced to compromise on this madness.
Fred (Dunhill, if I remember correctly), one of the founders of MAG, WW2 veteran, fought for freedom, died in prison. Can't beat the system. Big Brother is watching you. ! Make the most of what you've got left.
Anything we do on our tiny island is pointless.
As i commented on here two years ago, here come '20 minute cities'! You're spot on with your analysis Stuart.
Stuart.
Glad that you have the courage to speak out. Happy New Year!
They will close all petrol stations and that’ll be the end of ICE vehicles.
I’m pinching your comment “ electricity doesn’t grow on trees “ 👍
Fingerhorn4 - I do so agree about the bike industry producing ridiculous big motorcycles! But they are pandering to customers who appear to be man-made climate change denyers in order to justify their presumed right to do as they please. The move from petrol and diesel is inevitable, despite the petrolheads protests. It won't be easy either. - Chris.
@@ChrisJohnson-pd4hh - except that there’s NO man-made Climate Change / Climate Crisis
@@Shiplap4
Electricity does grow on trees.
OMG..this is bureaucracy gone mad! I am so glad I am retired but I despair for my children and grandchildren!! Thank you for this information Stuart.
You may have just come up with the perfect solution for us plebs. Back on horses & donkeys ! 😂
@@martinowl Some right smelly emissions from them.😊But, you would have right of way over the EVs
@@martinowl They will then regulate that as well...... communist ideas must be stopped, starting at the local level. Do you really want to live like this ? Then do not..
Hardly communist, more elitist, doesnt affect those with the money.
@@martinowl As it would not effect any Communist Elites....
Thanks for being bold enough to address these growing problems with government control over us. I hope you don't get canceled because of this. It seems that even 'free' countries like the US, UK, and Australia are submitting to over reach by our governments with little resistance. It is all rather scary.
I am in absolute agreement with your insight Stuart. If people can’t see this then they must be educated-thank you for this work.
Well researched with logical conclusions, the writing is on the wall! 100%√🏆
@@JohnHughes2002 😄
If an apartment building has lets say 250 people with 250 electric cars and they come home and all need to recharge for the next days use where do they all plug in? They never bring this up ...
When will it dawn on them that people need their cars to get to work? How will carers, nurses etc working shifts and not on high wages manage, not to mention all the people who care for relatives and need to get to them at any time, sometimes urgently?
Get this!! Just posted this video on a motorcycle Facebook group where it was taken down by admins who classed as spam! They know me from my many posts to know it wasn’t spam. This is an example of people putting their heads in the sand.
Folks might start taking notice when the lights start going out (which will be too late). Excellent content Stu👍
Thank you Stuart. I’m with you on this!
To stop this we have to grow some balls, invest in balaclavas and remove the cameras everytime they go up.its not difficult,we have to mean business!
please uncle Stu keep the video's coming , i really enjoy them no matter how depressing in this currant climate , thank you Boris
They really don't care about any of that, it'll be work from home or survive on UBI if you have a high enough social credit score.
Agreed 100%. The government doesn't want people to move around any more. The little freedom we used to have is gone............ forever.
I have shared and positivity promoted the petition you mentioned and now has over 100k signatures 😊
I also filled in the government consultation thing online and also joined MAG.
Brilliantly explained. Hopefully the eternally blinkered might wake up and smell the fair trade coffee.
As hard and tough it is, please keep this topic going, you may inadvertently help spark a movement.
Auto emissions account for 15% of emissions... Power production, HVAC and server farms are becoming a larger issue...
Please keep up the good work agree with you 100 percent .progress taking us back to the dark ages
Stuart, please don't stop bringing this very informative information to the public. People are stupid and have blinders on they refuse to see what the government to doing to them. Don't let the naysayers effect you. The world needs to hear the truth never stop speaking it ! Happy New Year !
You keep posting, and I'll keep watching, Uncle Stu.
I live in a very rural area and cycle to work. That's no problem, I enjoy it. But....I have kids that live 38km away and to get them to school on the days I have them would be a 5 hour round trip on public transport and the first bus doesn't start running until 8:48. Totally unworkable!
Thank you, Visionary Stu! Please do continue to speak common sense in this absurd day.
USA here, tired and alive. Please don’t stop informing us. We need our dogged champion for those of us who understand and for those needing help developing their critical thinking. This is our future, good or bad, but never laying down! Thank you
DM, we in the US are only a few years behind Europe and the UK. CA has banned the sale of ICEVs after 2035, so it's already started. As CA goes, so goes the US...
Keep going Stuart, you are saying what i have been saying for ages.
Don`t forget that we breathe out carbon dioxide, are they going to tax us as well for daring to live?
Thank you for doing these very informative videos, I have learned a lot from them, thankfully I live out in the sticks in Cornwall and very rarely need to go into large town but is getting very scary with what this Government is doing. Please keep up the great work you do.
I agree with everything said in this video, however my hope is in the Great British Public, I don’t think they are going to stomach this!!!
If the TV says do it that's it job done, critical thinking skills are almost extinct in the UK
Thanks for tackling a difficult subject. 👍
I'm looking forward to the comments for this video! A scary time ahead for us all. 😪
Keep up the good work Stuart 👏
Very informative Stuart I enjoyed it
Kingston on Thames !!started this bollocks yrs ago look up on this folks..do not Comply all UK has lowest CO2 EMISSIONS in Europe ..
Great video and interesting insight. It’s very quickly becoming apparent that the pandemic restrictions are not about health and the transport programme is not about the environment. Society as we know it is being broken down to be rebuilt with something more sinister. The common denominator is free will or choice. Some call it “The great reset”!
It'd be a shame if you stopped reporting on this issue - you're one of the few with their heads screwed on...
