Happy Birthday Stuart. This is great advice that I have also learned from the amazing partners in my life. As a 59 year old man, and a returning rider, when I suggested to my (current and most amazing) partner I buy a motorcycle, she was very encouraging as she also loved being a pillion as a young woman. She even offered to pay a significant part of the cost as my 60th birthday present. Yes, I am a lucky man and I love her to bits. I tell her daily.
Happy Birthday, Mr Fillingham - and many happy returns of that special day! I was the lucky guy who's wife was very keen to ride with me as a passenger on our BMW. When I wanted to buy the first motorcycle in our relationship (a Honda XBR 500) she supported me in every way, and it was fun to ride for both of us. Some years later we decided to change to a much more comfortable bike, a BMW R 80 R, which ist still in my garage, but upgraded to a 1000 cc. Since my wife died in March last year, riding is not half the joy for me, cause there's nobody sitting on the back seat to tell me where to go and which places to visit. It is not in every relationship that you have to convince your partner when you want to buy a motorcycle. Sometimes there are two persons with the same desire. Love doesn't always mean to look at each other but to look in the same direction.
Many happy returns! I honestly feel bad for blokes who have partners who tell them how they're allowed to have fun or spend their own cash; why marry someone that won't support your hobbies? Unless one is the reckless sort or financially irresponsible, I've never understood couples trying to police each others' hobbies or money - certainly doesn't bode well for long-term relationship stability.
A newish girl friend with a particularly expensive shoe habit was questioning and arguing the wisdom of me thinking about buying another(7th) bike "you can only ride one at a time" she said. "You can only wear one bloody pair of shoes at a time!" I replied 😉🤣
Happy Birthday Uncle Stu. Words well said, never try to pre-guess a woman. Treat them properly and with respect. I miss my wife every day, but still talk to her and let her know what I’m doing.
I recall some sound advice on the back of a Puck's matchbox (I think it was Puck). 'The art of diplomacy is letting someone have your way' :) PS - Happy Birthday.
What also helped me was buying the correct safety gear and doing motorbike courses. My partner has anxiety and is very scared about motorbikes. My friends thought I would die instantly. Just demonstrate that you are under taking the extra training required to keep yourself safe.
My wife's Birthday today as well as yours. We listened to this with candle light and a roast dinner for two! She says It's sound advice. She says, that she can tell you're a Libran. Balanced views I'm told. Ha! Enjoyed this one most of all. Keep up the 'Birthday tea entertainment, for two.....'
Happy Birthday Stuart. Interesting reflections on the female sex, with which I largely concur. I've been single, had the occasional girlfriend, been married and am now divorced, which I find suits me well. As it does my Guzzi. And my Suzuki. And my bicycles. And my .. you get the picture!
Happy birthday Stuart. It's also my third wedding anniversary today, so quite an apt video 😂 My ex-wife was a complete nightmare, high maintenance, argumentative, loved to argue about anything and everything and also loved to spend money like it was going out of fashion. It wasn't until I met my current wife that I could actually get the financial side of a relationship into sensible order to be honest, and finally have the disposable income available to buy a motorcycle. Now aged 50, I have two bikes in the garage and a wife that has gone from hating motorbikes when we first met eight years ago, to loving being pillion for days out on the Interceptor - I do buy her perfume regularly too 😂
Don’t tell her,I picked up my new RT last Friday, parked it next to her car in the garage, she walked past it for two days without noticing.I’ll not tell you what happened on Monday
Happy birthday, Stuart! You're completely right on your method! In the same way my wife came to the store to buy my last motorbike and help me choose the most adequate bike acconding to what we had commited! Happy wife, happy life!!
Hi Stuart. I really enjoyed this video. You made some extremely good points. It helped me prepare for a conversation that I want to have with my wife. I stopped riding when we had our children. Our kids are almost grown and our home is almost an empty nest. I'm almost 50. I'd like to spend the next 20 years riding during my free time. My wife is a good partner who deserves an honest conversation. I want to treat her with respect and hopefully include her.
Happy Birthday , me and the good lady loved this video and laughed loads. She has come with me to my local dealer twice now and on each occasion she did the deal and bought me a new bike. What a woman. Of course I spoil her with the occasional McDonald's breakfast. She's a keeper. Have a great day, Bob
Happy Birthday! Just had mine a few ago. Pushing 7 decades.... Great video, it always gets me the way your videos give out advice and info that should be obvious to most, but apparently isn't. Keep it up, they're great and I enjoy them and I hope all learn something. Again, enjoy your day.
Happy Birthday, Stuart! So, 21 again and we've stopped counting? My ex tried to get me to stop motor racing, which I'd been in since long before we met. Even tried to force the issue at a dinner party. Didn't even back off when I advised her not to make me choose between her and racing. She did. The cars have also been gone for some years now, after 36 years in the sport. Happily, my now wife is a lovely and very understanding lady and has been very supportive of me buying my last two bikes. Perhaps the key is to choose the right model - and that applies to the bike, also!
Been there, got the T-shirt and watched the video....I'm now divorced, retirement in España. I do what I like, get up when I like, eat what I want and most importantly 'Go for a Ride' on my motorcycle when I like..... just like I did when a whole lot younger than I am now...... The biggest difference is I'm not thinking about Girls and sex every minute of the day when my hormones were in overdrive and running riot....However, it was great when they were!...Happy Birthday Stu. Greetings from España....
Adjunct....here in Spain a law has been passed that if a group of cyclist approach a roundabout you must stop allowing the whole group to pass... What number constitutes a group.. 2, 4, 6, or multiples there of.... traffic laws have a habit of becoming international...EU or not, so beware the cyclist lobby!!
Madame raised no complaints when I bought my Interceptor (after finishing the mortgage and drawing down some pension). She admired it enthusiastically when I brought it home. About six weeks later she said to me, out of nowhere, "Please be careful. I do worry about you on that bike". I said "I'm not 18 any more, I'm not going to do anything stupid". An hour later she arrived at my side on the road as we waited for the ambulance and a kind bystander dragged my soon to be written-off RE into his driveway (T-boned. Not my fault). Later, on the kitchen floor, nauseous from shock, pain and morphine I agreed to "get rid of that bloody bike". A steel plate and 9 screws later, she caught me looking at the RE site again. "Perhaps", she suggested, "when you get the insurance you could look at something a bit lighter?". I waxed enthusiastic about the virtues of the 350 Classic. When the consultant discharged me I booked a test ride. I drove it down to the house, parked it on the driveway and rang the bell. She stuck her head out of the door. I showed off the little 350 like a salesman. She said "You'd rather have another Interceptor, wouldn't you?". "Yes". So that's what I've got. She's a saint, Madame.
Many happy returns Stuart! Sound advice, especially the last bit. Some will say "it's easier to get forgiveness than permission" but as you say, following that route is a breach of trust - in reality there's no way back from that!
Happy Birthday to you. I am a wife of a biker, but also a biker myself - just learning at the age of 55!! 😆 We have a great partnership and discuss bikes a lot. I love that he has an interest and I help out and learn lots too. we share finances and never fall out.
Now age 60, after two wives, a happy life is no wife. Company and companionship are optional. Often now I prefer my own company. The advantages seem to far outweigh the disadvantages! The only person now to have this debate "to spend or not to spend" is between me and my bank account. Happy Birthday Stuart!
When I bought my last bike I had been given the go ahead so my wife went on holiday with her girlfriends and I went to the bike shop. When she returned from holiday she had changed her mind after discouragement from her friends...er problem. I'd already bought it....it was hidden in the garage under cardboard boxes until I could persuade her round again...at which point I magically rode back from the bike shop one Saturday morning :)
Interesting topic! A friend of mine wanted to get himself a CB500F but was afraid to tell his wife. I told him to take her to a Ducati dealer and let her know that he's interested in a Panigale. Then, when she sees the price tag and gets upset, leave the dealership and don't bring it up again. Be nice to her for a while, take her out, wine and dine her, buy her the jewelry or handbag she wants. Then take her to a Honda dealer and tell her you want that little 500. He did it and it worked!
Good one. I think I like my cb500f more than my street triple. Honda made it very ergodynamic, body forming and low center of gravity. They really know what they’re doing. I’m very impressed. Street triple is nice but not as wisely designed. After acquiring the street triple, I appreciate the cb500f even more.
@@jbean530 Those CB500s are not outstanding at anything but they are a very well rounded package. Had a Nighthawk 450 in the 80s, a 2001 CB500S with 57 hp and a 2015 CBR500R. Many riders dismiss the CB500 since it's "just a little 500" - they don't know what they're missing.
One thing to mention. Often I would listen to my partners problem and try to “solve it” - when I should have just listened and shown empathy. Sometimes people just want to vent and aren’t in problem solving mode yet
Happy Birthday Stuart! :) I'm in the lucky position of having a wife with a motorcycle drivers license herself. Hasn't been riding for about 20 years except for the occasional kilometer here and there on other's bikes, but getting not one, but two bikes into the family garage proved rather easy in this setting.
Happy birthday Stuart, have a good day, lucky man that I am my wife likes motorcycles and they're what brought us together forty odd years ago. And after sitting behind me after all those years , she decided it was her turn to have one as she wanted her own , so this year she took her CBT and I bought her a 125 scrambler, which she loves to bits . She's already got her sights on her post test bike when she passes which is...the new Royal Enfield 350 Hunter! And I didn't have to take her to the shoe/bag/perfume shop , just a motorcycle shop ! 😊👍 Happy days !
Happy birthday Stewart. Keep your helmet on but... My wife had always been the driving force when it came to buying a new motorcycle! And if a room needed decorating and as I once worked a sixty hour week. More often or not she'd grab the steam stripper sandpaper etc and get stuck in. My wife Sam could even hang wallpaper! And as for going dress hunting for say a company event, trust me when I say nothing she wore made her bum look big. In fact into her 40's she still had a body shape most twenty year old femails would like. Yep wasn't I one lucky man. Sammy's been gone now for two years through covid. And I miss her every day. But given the choice of going somewhere in a car or a motorcycle, the bike won hands down every time. I'm almost 70 now and riding just don't seem the same anymore. But I keep the faith. Wishing you many more happy years safe riding Stewart!
I returned to motorcycling a bit late in life. My wife and I have been married for 30 years as of this coming August. I had wanted to buy one for some time but the family, daughters, house and life came first. Last year I bought a Kawasaki Vulcan S from a local dealer. Janet was a bit surprised at the cost, not for the bike, but the rest of the gear, too. She's actually gratified that I take it seriously, ride respectfully and wear the gear with every ride. She's also acknowledged that I waited until we could actually afford it. I'm doing pretty well as engineering staff at a local aerospace company here in the Baltimore, MD US area. I'm also not the only older rider where I work. Respect for family and responsibilities do come first.
Happy Birthday Stuart, have a great day. My only bit of advice on the subject of wives and motorcycles is to anyone thinking of wandering into the valley of the gold band. The person you are dating or living with right now are what they are and it is both wrong and a mistake to think a wedding ring and a bit of paper will change the person they are, their likes and dislikes ect and that works for both people. As far as my marriage goes we both trust and understand each other and even though deep down my wife isn't a bike person she would never interfere if I wanted to buy another bike or change one, that also goes for buying workshop gear and tools and I would never stop her buying what ever she wanted or doing what she wants and at that we have a happy understanding provided what ever we buy or do does not upset the paying of house bills and general living...........15 years on and the dog house is still not occupied.
Love your channel and this advice is great. A late bloomer at 44 I bought a int 650 in February and it's nearly paid off. Every time I ride her I look forward to more. Thanks for the videos on the first service. That gasket was a b!tch!
Nice video Stu, happy birthday, some good advice there, my wife has just bought me a Classic 350 Reborn for my 70th, must have done something right over the years. Keep making the videos, brightens up my day, enjoy your birthday.
Happy birthday Stu! Good advice as always! There was an area which might have been worth exploring further. I met my wife back in 1978 when I had a couple of motorbikes and not many 18 years could afford a car. We rode many miles together, until I bought a car and we got married and had children. I never rode again, until I bought a bike about 20 years later. We were in the position you described, our own house, I earned enough money that she did not have to work and could concentrate on being there for the family, which was her sole wish. We enjoyed family times out and had a good life. In 1999, we talked about me getting a motorbike for a bit of weekend relaxation. Karen agreed, as it was not a sports bike and I never had wanted one anyway. After having the bike for a while, although I realised that she wanted me to have it, she was so worried that something bad would happen to me. Within a year I sold the bike. Sadly Karen passed away very early and during Covid. With our children grown up, I bought another bike. I like to think that she is happy for me to potter about on my Royal Enfield! Although, I know she would have had a laugh at me choosing a sports tourer first, which was too big and then a Herald (a bit like the Interceptor in looks) which I knew wouldn't have ended well! So, there is the worry factor, if someone really loves you and you love and respect them, then putting them through a lot of worry also needs to come into the equation.
Happy birthday mate. I do have a RE Inty but I pretty much do what my wife tells me, especially after I saw what happened to the dog when he kept getting out.
Very wise words for all us males on your birthday Stuart. I even paused your video halfway through, to take time and make sure, our home looked tidy and clean, before my better half gets home from her adventures today. I definitely have my eye, on the next bike potential new bike (2022 Triumph Street Twin 1200) hopefully in the not-too-distant future. Getting the go-ahead and "blessing" form the missus, will make it even better!
My ex couldn't understand me having a bike, now I don't have her in my life, I have 3 bikes and always looking for a fourth 👍 Great words of wisdom Stu, right on the money as usual. happy birthday, have a good one!
Happy BD Mr Fillingham! A nice change of pace, some good advice and lovely roads to take in. Well done sir! I have been fortunate in having never had to specifically justify a new or another bike ( never owned more than two at a time) but then again I'm happy to hold on to the right bike for over twenty years if necessary and am only on my eighth bike in total after forty five years. My point is that I have always ensured my wife and children have had their needs satisfied as best I could before thinking of a change or addition to the garage and it's always my wife's car for example even when I paid for it because it has always been our money not mine. I do believe we all largely, create the environment in which we live and reap what we sow etc. so it would be little surprise if a selfish individual finds themselves not always getting their own way in matters of discretionary spending. Keep up the good work.
Stuart never a truer word spoken, as a small time motorbike reviewer here in Aus that tends to fall in love with the bikes he reviews and then proceeds to buy them. I concur with all you have said here, and remember happy wife happy life.
Happy birthday Stuart. Another way to get the „Go ahead“ from your better half is to get her excited about motorcycles. Then she might even ask you to buy one 😂
Yes, yes! When I first met my partner she wasn't really into bikes but I'd had a bike for most of my life. After a period of motorcycle drought I needed a small scooter for commuting and she went with me to a dealership who sold a few alongside motorbikes. As we walked in, I turned left to where the scooters were but she turned right instead 😉👍. Over the eight years we've been together she's become an excellent pillion and literally enjoys riding as much as I do. In fact we're now two-up about 90% of the time. 😁 She loves the research and has become very knowledgeable herself. She gets just as excited as me when we're looking for s new bike. I'm a very lucky man 🍀❤️
Hmmmm, an interesting approach to marriage guidance. I tried to adopt these philosophies over a period of 25 years, after which I realised things weren't working out exactly how I planned (and trust me I did try to adopt your chosen methods of appeasement!). Since the divorce I have now accumulated a collection of nine motorbikes, a camper-van, two cars and life is good, but more importantly, uncomplicated! Each to their own I guess. Happy Birthday👍.
Happy to share that my wife ended up enjoying riding with me, however in the beggining she tought that riding my 🏍 could be dangerous due to the traffic. I agree that we men need to support our household traits before considering buy a sweet motocycle!
The best thing a man can do for his children is love and care for their mother My dad told me this and I lived by it. I Gave up motorcycles until my kids were adults able to care for themselves and their mom if I got killed on a bike. Back on the bikes now and loving every minute of it. Life seems to have various stages and you have to embrace them and grow old gracefully
Spot on Stuart.. I'm lucky I get away with flowers.. she tells me when it's clothes time and I get a riding pass. Many happy returns, keep it shiny side up!!
Happy Birthday Stuart. It shouldn’t be “Happy Wife, Happy Life”, it should always be “Happy Spouse, Happy House”. It works both ways. However so do agree that you still need approval for such a large purchase. Great channel, love watching your videos. Keep it up.
Very good advice. Respect for your partner in the key. Just purchased a new 2022 Triumph Speed Twin 1200. Consulted my wife, she knows I like bikes and I got a good trade in on my old T120, no issues. Third bike purchased since we have been married. And Happy birthday.
Happy bday Stuart! This vlog is more of a..Zen and the art of family maintenance :) Thx for this...i wish you had created this vlog 15yrs back for me...
A penny dropped for me when was about 50 and my sister lent me "Men are from Mars . . .". When a problem occurs, a man becomes solution-driven. What I learned was to say "I'm sorry things have gone wrong for you. I can see how unhappy you are. What can we do about this?". I had always thought the first two sentences but never said them out loud. It makes a huge difference!
Finally, someone took this up! Sending the video to 02 friends who are shying away for this very reason. Wishing you a happy birthday 🎈🎉 and lots of joy ahead. Cheers.
Loved this video, made me chuckle as you hit the nail on head multiple times. Partners also worry about your safety too, which is understandable given the mortality rate of motorcyclists.
Belated Happy Birthday! You are indeed a wise man. My spouse recently announced to me that I can buy another motorcycle. Fast forward one week and Interceptor was in the driveway. I must be doing something right!
Happy Birthday Stuart , 🥃 Excellent logical advice. A long time back I considered approaching it from the estimated "Total cost of ownership" perspective compared to the wife. Turned out we could afford more motorcycles than realised. I kept her anyway , You kind of get attached to them don't you...!! 😞🤣 Ride Safe.
My story atypical, as is the love of my life had some bad motorcycle experiences in her family tree. Yet she saw me falling into boredom post retirement. So out of the blue she asked me if there was anything I really wanted to do in retirement. I assign she really wanted to know. She said yes & I said “Ride a fast bike again.” She said get one. Asked how much. Told her my budget. Just found & bought a sub 11 sec Triumph triple with a Matt Capri tune. Checking everything, going to run in a street drag bike class next summer. The fact that I didn’t have to sell her on it. She is still the most amazing woman I’ve ever known. Used to ride a built Norton Dominator but this time it’s a 955i Triumph triple. Told her the pillion is exclusively hers. She’s debating it… We swore Death Before Dishonor as one of our vows to each other. She shows as much class & loyalty as anyone I have ever met. And I’ve rolled with a few really standup people in my days.
Oh wow, here me I was totally expecting a full tongue-in-cheek cheeky go at the subject and this actually was incredibly wise and benefitial stuff! My wife allowed me to use the money we got as gifts for our wedding to buy my first motorcycle. It was a loan, obviously and I payed it back in time. And also in later times she has approved the use of our common savings to avoid taking up an expensive loan from the bank. And I've always paid back every cent.
first of all, happy birthday I very much enjoy your channel, always a great content i was the one popping the question about a bike, and it didn't go well at first ... money was not in question, but the thing that was he was worried about me getting started at the age of 39 without any experience, except as a pillion I got my license, i bought a bike (royal enfield, of course, husband is a honda fan) and now we ride and travel together, and we love it Take care Much love from Croatia
Succinctly put. Couldn't agree more with what you have said in this. Simple advise but sometimes we men do take things for granted. I can say I'm blessed and lucky to have a supporting wife who understands my passion for motorcycles. And apologies for the delay but Belated Birthday Wishes Uncle Stu! Cheers and wish you many a happy mile on the road ahead!
Happy birthday Stuart - I’m in the fortunate position that my partner shares my enthusiasm for motorbikes, and was instrumental in encouraging me with the purchasing my recent bike
Happy Birthday Stuart, its mine tomorrow, now I realise why I like your channel so much we are both Librans similar veiw on the world, see the same beauty in things, and maybe your to blame for my latest interest in horology, I've recently bought an old Seiko watch that wasn't working and fixed it, very satisfying. All because you showed me the Orient watches. Thank you, its very satisfying wearing a watch you've fixed polished and bought back to like new, and the tools you need arnt massively expensive and cleaning the internals can be done with a carb cleaner which I already had. Have a lovely day.
Happy birthday mate! Enjoy your day. My wife bought my last motorcycle for my 50th. birthday a Triumph America, which I'll never get rid of. But, you make very good points for many others situation. Ride safe, and have a great day sir.
Happy B Day Stu ! With 18 motorcycles, from 1929-2020 and two scooters in the stable... (12 currently licensed and insured) my other half is onboard and has never complained. She enjoys riding on back or in the sidecar and all other aspects of the hobby, swap meets, events, weekend adventures. I'm about to turn the big 71 and hope to enjoy two.. and three..wheels for many more years.
Many happy returns...My wife of 35 years knows I like bikes, watches, cars (and guitars)..of which I have many, and basically your video is great and good advice...she has no interest in bikes but knows I do. I have bought jewelery, handbags and perfume, as you say, and is always accomodating, and as a great partner realises that eveyone needs stuff they like, and can put up with my riding, playing or just looking at stuff with a cold beer...bit like Clint Eatwood in Gran Turismo...nice one :o) I did manage to get her to sit on my Triumph Bobber once to keep it level for an oil check once though :o)
My experience has been a struggling one, mostly at the beginning (it’s dangerous, why not a car …) but I managed to buy the machine of my dreams 😉. Happy birthday 🎂✌️
Happy Birthday Stuart! Words of wisdom to the young and unlearned, I hope some receive you advice. Every bit of advice was spot on..especially about not buying them clothing, and only going shopping with them for shoes, perfume and handbags. I personally would pass on the handbags. In 2001 my wife bought me a new bike. She went with me to a local dealership to look at a used Harley..and she said, you're not buying that piece of crap, lets go in the showroom. We looked around, she said, do you see anything you like. I said yes. She said, is it big enough for both of us? I said yes. She said, buy it, I'll pay for it. We bought it, enjoyed riding together, and the payments came out of the Smith checking account. My darlin' wife passed six years ago after 50 yrs of marriage. I still own and love the '01 Yamaha Road Star, I'll keep it until I depart this earth.
My friend bough a bike and told his wife it was mine. It was in his garage because I was too scared to tell my wife. She came over to our house and tore me off a strip for being a coward, so funny. With bikes being toys, and potentially dangerous ones at that, committing to training investment can help allay a loved ones worries for your safety. Time to worry is when your wife arranges your new life insurance then buys you a high powered bike! While we love our bikes, we must never forget that a one second lapse in concentration can mess us up big time. Thanks for the life coaching Stu and hope you have a great birthday.
Happy Birthday Stuart! Loved your video. I’ll subscribe. I’ve never been married, that just never happened for me. So it made it easy to buy a 69 Triumph TR6 Tiger, runs great and all original, it was found in a horse stable in Southern California, never restored. I bought it from a dealer, I’m having new brakes and tires put on it, with some maintenance done too. It will be delivered to me soon. I always wanted a Triumph, since I was a teenager, seeing the movie “Psychomania”😂. Now I’m 68 years old and got my triumph. This is the second motor bike in my life. I haven’t ridden a motorcycle for 45 years. I’ll just be cruising around on it, nothing crazy. Just enjoying my new baby when it arrives. I’ll be watching more of your videos.
Happy Birthday 🎂 uncle Stu. Margaret and myself are together 15 years. Never in my 62 years have I come across such an amazing person as herself. I adore the ground she walks on and I know how luck and fortunate to have found her. I tell her how much I love her as often as I can and we do everything together an she really adores being on the bike with me. This summer we spent 7 days in Donegal touring on a 650 v strom and when we got home we discussed that maybe Suzie was a little asthmatic so we changed her for Tina the 800 Tiger. Both of us are loving the new bike. Happy days . Ps. Margaret never sat on a bike till she met me !!!!!!! Ride and be safe.Ron from Ireland 🇮🇪 😎
Happy Birthday, great video and great advice... Perfectly put and very entertaining to listen to, I've always had the same considerations and never had any problems when purchasing a bike. I also think that its important to involve her as much as possible, even to the consideration and choice of motorcycle... A good pillion seat, comfort and riding position, and a compatible riding style possibly shows your considerate and caring side, well that's what i think. Anyhow have a great day and thanks for the video.
Happy Birthday. If you can demonstrate that you have made sacrifices in other areas in your life (like forgoing other enjoyments) while supporting her hobbies, enjoyments, etc). Then your partner will understand what motorbikes mean to you. PS: Couples that ride together are very happy.
Your telling me!😊
some of us are blessed with bike loving women in our lives, they are to be loved and cherished 😍
ride safe and have good times 👍👍
Wonderful to read this. Cheers!
Love doesn't always mean to look at each other but to look in the same direction.
well said and very sorry to read that you lost your wife , my condolences 😔
@@davidireland6952 Thank you very much, Sir.
AND... You're still alive to tell that tale??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@rhonda-my_honda_cb500x3 haha, yes mate. Bike bought, she's gone, single again and lovin' it😉
Test for next girlfriend take her shoe shopping including motorcycle dealers and if she chose a pair of motorcycle boots she's the one 🍻
Just tell her to hurry up and get the dishes done, we're going out to look at bikes. 🤣🤣🤣 😳
Slowing down for corners and staying away from all other traffic also helps a lot.😊
It's also my third wedding anniversary today, so quite an apt video 😂
My ex-wife was a complete nightmare, high maintenance, argumentative, loved to argue about anything and everything and also loved to spend money like it was going out of fashion.
Happy Birthday ! I agree - do something nice for yourself and celebrate all week ! Women and Bikes - so much passion, so much grief ... lol
Bikes and women always in the same situation and happy birthday party wishes
Welcome to the world of motorcycling 😃 hope you both have great ride Outs together 👍
@@alancrane4693 thanks. We love riding out together. He is also a great teacher and encourager.
"Don't get married & don't live with anyone "...Dammit Stuart where was that advice 40 years ago ?
HAPPPY BIRTHDAY 🎂
Now age 60, after two wives, a happy life is no wife. Company and companionship are optional. Often now I prefer my own company. The advantages seem to far outweigh the disadvantages! The only person now to have this debate "to spend or not to spend" is between me and my bank account. Happy Birthday Stuart!
Happy Birthday Stuart and thank you for the Great Entertainment!! Fabulous 👍
I can attest to these pearls of wisdom. Happy wife Happy life. Happy birthday mate!
Women like to be the centre of a man's world and do not tolerate competition, and a motorcycle IS competition, so it boils down to jealousy.
Happy birthday, Stuart.
I always come home from a motorcycle trip happier than I was when I went…. This gives value to the both of us.
Love your channel and this advice is great. A late bloomer at 44 I bought a int 650 in February and it's nearly paid off. Every time I ride her I look forward to more. Thanks for the videos on the first service. That gasket was a b!tch!
Happy birthday, Mr. Fillingham. Thank you for your wonderful advice.
Belated Happy Birthday Stuart 🎂. Golden words .. thanks a bunch.
Happy Birthday Stuart. You are a wise man. 🎉
She loves the research and has become very knowledgeable herself. She gets just as excited as me when we're looking for s new bike. I'm a very lucky man 🍀❤️
Now that's a wife in your title-screen! Congratulations and happy Birthday!!!
The best thing a man can do for his children is love and care for their mother
My dad told me this and I lived by it.
I Gave up motorcycles until my kids were adults able to care for themselves and their mom if I got killed on a bike.
Back on the bikes now and loving every minute of it.
Life seems to have various stages and you have to embrace them and grow old gracefully
Happy Birthday Stuart glad you got your channel sorted!
Spot on Stuart.. I'm lucky I get away with flowers.. she tells me when it's clothes time and I get a riding pass. Many happy returns, keep it shiny side up!!
Happy Birthday Stuart! Great quote “no your ass doesnt look fat!” 😂😂
Payed for my wife and kids to go to Spain for 2 weeks to get my first bike in 20 years
Happy Birthday Stuart. It shouldn’t be “Happy Wife, Happy Life”, it should always be “Happy Spouse, Happy House”. It works both ways.
However so do agree that you still need approval for such a large purchase.
Great channel, love watching your videos. Keep it up.
Happy birthday Stu , when I say I'm buying another bike the missus gets excited, "great I'll get a new leather jacket then 🤣🤣
Very good advice.
This vlog is more of a..Zen and the art of family maintenance :)
Thx for this...i wish you had created this vlog 15yrs back for me...
Thanks for the advice stu....and of course many happy returns.......
Cheers.
You are a very intelligent man. I really appreciate your knowledge and wisdom.
Loved this video, made me chuckle as you hit the nail on head multiple times. Partners also worry about your safety too, which is understandable given the mortality rate of motorcyclists.
Spot on! Also, if you do it right they’ll tell you to buy the bike, you won’t have to ask. Enjoy your birthday.
Belated Happy Birthday! You are indeed a wise man. My spouse recently announced to me that I can buy another motorcycle. Fast forward one week and Interceptor was in the driveway. I must be doing something right!
Happy birthday young fella and many more to come. Sage advice that we all need to remember whether we are buying a bike or not. Have a great day 🥳
Happy Birthday Stuart , 🥃
Excellent logical advice.
A long time back I considered approaching it from the estimated "Total cost of ownership" perspective compared to the wife.
Turned out we could afford more motorcycles than realised.
I kept her anyway , You kind of get attached to them don't you...!! 😞🤣
Ride Safe.
Re getting attached.
Not as much as the bikes! 😂
Happy Birthday, Stuart. Thank you for letting us celebrate this day with you. Another great video. Thank you for sharing.
Many more happy returns Stuart
My story atypical, as is the love of my life had some bad motorcycle experiences in her family tree. Yet she saw me falling into boredom post retirement.
So out of the blue she asked me if there was anything I really wanted to do in retirement.
I assign she really wanted to know. She said yes & I said “Ride a fast bike again.”
She said get one.
She’s debating it…
We swore Death Before Dishonor as one of our vows to each other.
And I've always paid back every cent.
first of all, happy birthday
I very much enjoy your channel, always a great content
i was the one popping the question about a bike, and it didn't go well at first ...
money was not in question, but the thing that was he was worried about me getting started at the age of 39 without any experience, except as a pillion
I got my license, i bought a bike (royal enfield, of course, husband is a honda fan) and now we ride and travel together, and we love it
Take care
Much love from Croatia
Succinctly put. Couldn't agree more with what you have said in this. Simple advise but sometimes we men do take things for granted. I can say I'm blessed and lucky to have a supporting wife who understands my passion for motorcycles. And apologies for the delay but Belated Birthday Wishes Uncle Stu! Cheers and wish you many a happy mile on the road ahead!
Happy Birthday and hope you have a great one!! And thank you for the Pure relational wisdom!!
Happy birthday Stuart - I’m in the fortunate position that my partner shares my enthusiasm for motorbikes, and was instrumental in encouraging me with the purchasing my recent bike
Many happy returns Unky Stu..
Best way to avoid conflict is just to go out for a ride on the latest new bike...
(and I sometimes wonder why I am not married)
Happy Birthday Stuart, its mine tomorrow, now I realise why I like your channel so much we are both Librans similar veiw on the world, see the same beauty in things, and maybe your to blame for my latest interest in horology, I've recently bought an old Seiko watch that wasn't working and fixed it, very satisfying. All because you showed me the Orient watches. Thank you, its very satisfying wearing a watch you've fixed polished and bought back to like new, and the tools you need arnt massively expensive and cleaning the internals can be done with a carb cleaner which I already had. Have a lovely day.
A lot of wisdom there Stuart. Happy birthday.
Happy Birthday Sir! Nice to see some footage of the Mule and your Interceptor again.
I'm about to turn the big 71 and hope to enjoy two.. and three..wheels for many more years.
hey happy birthday stuart !
Happy Birthday Stuart. That was some very sage advice you were expounding upon and you had me laughing my a** off.
Happy Birthday, Stuart!
Happy birthday, STEWART
Happy birthday Stuart. I never miss a post.
Brilliant insightful advice, won by experience! Thanks
Happy Birthday Stu , very true you have never said a truer word , ride safe
Happy Birthday, great video and great advice... Perfectly put and very entertaining to listen to, I've always had the same considerations and never had any problems when purchasing a bike. I also think that its important to involve her as much as possible, even to the consideration and choice of motorcycle... A good pillion seat, comfort and riding position, and a compatible riding style possibly shows your considerate and caring side, well that's what i think. Anyhow have a great day and thanks for the video.
Happy birthday Stuart, hope you have great birthday and enjoy it and you get great presents
