It was about their relationship, kind of like a metaphor for taking the next step, as "They not gonna know what's in the box unless they open it" (They're not gonna know what's gonna be like in a relationship with each other unless they try) The first time Kens got the box they talk about how she didn't wanted to opened or tell him what was inside because the stakes were too high, and he said that nothing is gonna change if they know what's inside the box, kinda like saying "nothing is going to change if they make the next step" (also Deeks got to the conclusion that Kensi sended the box to herself so they can have that exact conversation) And now Kensi gives the box to Deeks so he can be sure that he wants to open it. Later in the show (like much much later) Deeks open the box revealing what "he really wanted in the whole world" :)
Almost but not quite. It was a metaphor for her level of trust in him. And as for what was inside, he got to open it on their wedding day before the service and discovered it contained her fathers wedding ring (her most treasured possession) and she wanted him to have it because being in his presence made her feel safe, and it shows she trusted him with all her heart.
