    This is the great stuff about 3d printing. I had a cheap Ikea runner break on a dresser drawer. 3d printed a replacement. This more than the toys and stuff people start 3d printing with is the true selling point.

      The new meds I am on are working for the most part. They take most of the shake out. I am working on the brain stuff now and dealing with past PTSD and working on getting me more mentally fit. Of course I seem to regress a bit when I do videos and I feel like I am throwing my ideas into a vast empty black hole that is called UA-cam. FWIW this is actually is helping me by venting and being bitter. I am for once allowing myself to be angry and telling the world I am angry. Also being selfish and letting people know I feel like I am getting the shit end of the stick. It may or may not be true, but it is my truth and if I keep bottling this stuff up I'm only going to get worse. So for now the petulant self centered ass that is Ben is showing his face

      @@DreadMakerRoberts We all need to vent from time to time. The internet is frankly the best place to do it; why scream and rant at the people you love about mundane and nonsensical shit that frustrates you, and have them respond only with serious concern for your sanity, when you can direct it at the rest of the world instead and be met with many people who feel exactly the same frustrations, totally get it and can immediately relate.
      On the other hand, it also makes some people's blinkered idiocy easily-accessible to other blinkered idiots, but hey, life's not perfect and isn't meant to be.

    Ben, you should start a series about this! I've fixed plenty of things around the house with 3D printing! Drawer sliders, Light socket covers, drawer bar hangers, zip tie holders, and plenty more that I can't remember!!😁

    • @ArktinenPeikko
      @ArktinenPeikko Рік тому +2

      Definitely this. The minor things you can use a printer around your house is an endless source for content. And if you have kids, just imagine printing spare parts for toys, board games etc. I keep bulk printing wheels and axles for my dishwasher trays to keep it going, PLA seems to hold for maybe 3-6 months depending on brand per part in those temps. And I dont need to start sourcing for parts that are either impossible to find or way too expensive in order to make purhcasing a new dishwasher more appealing...
      Kids also keep misplacing some game specific board game pieces all the time so i have a few templates made in tinkercad ready to print just in case. Also makes thrift store bought board games less of a gamble if you can make your own pieces to replace all the missing ones.
      Wife has already come to kinda rely on the printer too, and I can hear her saying often "well if it breaks we can just print a new one" for random things. Although she was originally against purchasing the whole printer, thinking it more of a big boy toy (which it also is, i'm not afraid of admitting it).

    I never comment on UA-cam but I will here. I also had to do a 3d printer fix for my toilet a few years back - my housemate somehow made one of the buttons pop out and land in the bowl while it was flushing, so it was gone.
    You can't buy the button on its own so it would've meant buying and installing a whole new cistern. So I measured up the remaining button (half flush), printed it out, gave it a silver spray and Bob's your uncle. Eventually replaced the cistern when other internals failed and was time, but held me over for a good while.
    As far as the channel goes, really appreciate your content Ben, and understand the frustration, with how quality, intelligent channels like this can get neglected, but dumb nonsense can get tonnes of views. Unfortunately that's the Idiocracy we live in now.

    What? UA-cam playing favourites? No, never.... bwahahaha. I typed that with a straight face LOL... Personally, I LOVE content like this. THIS is what 3D printing is all about. It's not about printing little boats, dragons, cats, etc., that will eventually end up in the garbage can (yes they will LOL). 3D printing is about additive MANUFACTURING, whether you manufacture one piece or one thousand pieces LOL. That said, some people make good $$$ printing useless trinkets that other people without 3D printers will gladly pay for... go for it if that's the case! Oh, and yes, as a UA-camr myself, I do print boats and cats to test printers... but I try to print a practical test print whenever possible. Great video Ben... do more and yes, F@#$ UA-cam LOL

    Great video! I LOVE 3D printing, especially to solve stuff like this! Ya, pleasing the youtube ALGO GOD is REALLY tricky... but my guess is (and I personally don't mind) that swearing in a video isn't helping... especially when the channel niche isn't "Kardasians" or similar junk where swearing is probably expected? Just my two cents. The "maker" and "finance" channels I watch tend to be really careful about what they say (and even text shown in the videos) because the algos can be really sensitive to that stuff. Good luck man. @@DreadMakerRoberts honestly, I've been going through your videos (especially the Tom Hanks one) and am VERY surprised that you views are not WAY higher. That said, I just looked through your videos over the last 4 years and my guess is that one "issue" could be the cadence/frequency/consistency of videos. It SUCKS that it's a volume game with UA-cam. My guess is that they promote channels that they know will put out a lot of content because that will drive more subscribers and then more views. (i.e., follow-the-money... and in this case the $$ is from maximizing subscribers and views). It SUCKS when good content creators get discouraged. It's a sht-ton of work to script, film, edit, etc. good videos, and SUPER discouraging not to see a path to a solid ROI on all that time.
