🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏 Genius analogy. Thank you very much.

If you want a mechanical took watch a Citizen NY0040-17L has it all.
Fascinating story of when I got my NY0040-17’s strap from OEM to my CWC green grey G10 at the Jewellers where an elderly man inquiring about service for his grandfather’s pocket watch which was stolen by some Black and Tans and they tried to remove his grandfather’s name from the watch before it was returned.
For a dress watch I would love a Stowa Marine 36 decorated hand wind movement, no date and with centre seconds hand with Arabic numerals dial.
Never thought TGV would be the sort of person to go sailing. I crew on a Shipman 28.
@user-ep5ck4mj4xBetter health than wealth
@user-ep5ck4mj4xDo not believe in making loads of money
All I can say is that you've been listening to the wrong kind of jazz. :)
My Heuer Monaco is the only watch I can pull out of my watch winder and after weeks of non wear just put it on and not have to reset it. The accuracy outshines Breitling, Rolex, Panerai, etc.
It is an iconic watch that is eye-catching, more than any other watch in my collection only because it looks so unique, but not in a douche bag kind of way
Richard Mille is absolutely one of my fav watch brands because it makes me appreciate my Seiko all the more- not just because it's 1600X cheaper but because it looks 1600X nicer.
👏👏👏👏 Slow hand clap.
Nicely done my friend, nicely done.
Thank you and best regards,
TGV
Good video Gents!
While I would never have purchased a "Tag", my father did about 3 years ago, then about a year & a half ago out of the blue he gave it to me! (he's 94). I must say it's actually a good looking watch, it's a 200m diver style, WAZ1120. BB0879 Quartz movement, two-tone Formula 1. The second hand hits all the markers, blue dial, I love it and will never leave my collection!
I hated tag for years because you’re supposed to as a watch collector.. Then I bought one and now I love them. Now own a Carrera heritage steel and rose gold not plated as my dress watch
👏👏👏 I love hearing stories like this, happens to the best of us.
Thank you for posting that, very much appreciated.

TGV
I had hate for years from the people who you were like, my 8 year old Carrera has been a stunning and reliable watch and I'm glad that opinions have finally started to come around... also the glass box looks mental!
Open up the case back and look at the polishing on the movement.....
@@gilbertler03 Carrera’s all have display backs and decorated movements 😂
@@randombloke10 exactly 👍 wtf lol 😂
All the talk of Heuer’s accomplishments, the F1 involvement, Senna, John Glenn, and the picks of the Monaco V4 made me want a TAG Heuer even more!
That means their marketing has worked with you!
Always enjoy the collaborations with Marc. Good to see the team back together. 💪
Anytime the two of your are onscreen it's a great day. Thank you.
I have been a lover of watches for the past 25 years, but i didn't truly become a so-called enthusiast until the last 6 months, which is when i started to do true research. Watching your videos has become the #1 thing i watch on youtube. You're the best. Your whole approach to the world of watches makes learning literally so much fun. Also, your chemistry with Mark is the best. You guys make the best videos on youtube. hands down! Here's to many more years for both of you guys. Thank you for making the watch world so much fun!
The problem I have with so many luxury-ish brands is that they have so many uninspiring models, and lower priced brands have so many that are both interesting and affordable.
Great point, thank you Ryan,
Best regards,
TGV
Uninspiring...Rolex!
@@nearlyretired7005 I have to agree.
Well said, fully agree! I started to love the latest releases and the history from Bulova. As a German my favorite Brands are Nomos and Mühle Glashütte where you get a watch worth the money.
Rolex: change the color combo, add a mm of size, take a mm of size away, cover it in gemstones ... same watch design but hey it is 'technically' a new watch model.
Moonswatch did the same ("hey look this model has a gold hand!").
I really appreciate you guys' openness to find something positive to say about companies that get a lot of hate, whether it's deserved or not.
I'd be hiding a long long way from civilisation if I had that sort of money. Possibly Urban Gentry's best line ever
🤣🤣🤣

ya thats the part that sure resonates with me. my amazon deliveries would be like, 3rd island on the left, leave it on the dock lol
@@knighthaunter That's what I was thinking. If I had that kind of money, I would buy my own island somewhere.
You dont need a lot of money to do that
not sure these days but back when i was way younger me and a friend priced some islands off nova scotia, not exactly what my wife would have in mind though lol
For me, I have a love/hate thing for AP. For a very long time the Royal Oak was a grail of mine. Years and years ago, when you could buy one at retail for somewhere around 15k, I told myself one day I'd own one. Now though, after they went the artificial scarcity route, and inflated grey market prices, and the whole 'flex' lifestyle where d-bags are wearing diamond encrusted models for Instagram photos, they've just been sort of ruined for me. I still appreciate the Royal Oak but I have to say I don't like AP.
Exactly! Very well said.
Good one, yes. For such a big maisonette they're also too dependent on the royal oak
TAG Heuer did really well last year, and was covered in such positive light by Teddy, Theo & Harris, This Watch That Watch... even Chrono24 voted it as brand of the year. Glad to see they've improved their position since years back.
I just starting watching this channel. I hope the mixture of movies and watches never changes. I appreciate how long it takes to make these videos. The movie watch combo is brilliant . Well done mate
Has Rolex moved forward with design or technology? And what are their most popular watches? Is that much different from Tag Heuer? BTW, always impressed with Marc's knowledge of watches. 👍
Tag move a lot forward compared to Rolex …you are very right
@@VinceWatchesI find Rolex watches dull and boring, but they don't need to be initiative, but they sell watches and make money........
to people who know nothing about watches, and buy the brand to show off weath, bit sad really!
I have a 2023 Tag Heuer F1 chrono quartz full red with the red rubber strap, absolutely love it. It's a memento of all the races and GP's i've been to. I only recently got into watches, and i was completely unaware of the fact that Tag Heuer was so hated by watch enthusiasts throughout the years. 🤣
I absolutely adore my F1. I bought it completely unaware of how hated the brand is online as well. I can’t begin to care that it’s quartz as it only adds to its luxury/tool watch appeal.
Painful to pay high price for quartz watch... But it is so much convenient than an automatic, especially if you have a collection of watches .
The glassbox tag
Heuer Carrera, and skipper are two of the nicest watches out right now .
Which one do you think is nicer? The green carrera or the skipper
@@nathandavern7030 skipper color schemes great
It takes at least one cultured European and one skilled and practicing engineer to discuss strategy in luxury watchmaking in such a thoughtful and responsible manner. I can't even imagine how valuable your discussions must be to watch manufacturers and marketers.
Great video, really interesting conversation from you both. Being a Gen X child, TAG was the pinnacle for watches growing up. I have owned a few over the years, enjoyed them, durable, accurate watch. Since my tastes have grown, but I still enjoy the one quartz TAG from the mid 90’s that I have left. A very simple, comfortable, durable watch that garners more wrist time than my others. RM I’ve known since I play golf, Bubba Watson, and I’ve always felt their watches to be more garish for my tastes. This was back before they have gone mainstream “flex” as you will but like you said, if I had the money for one, I’d probably still wear my TAG more. 😂
I have a 2001 professional series chronograph…the “Jason Bourne” that I absolutely love. There’s so much to that watch…center minute counting, local hour jumping, of course 200m WR, screw down crown. It’s not for everyone, but for me, perfect.
YESSSSSSS!!! I totally forgot about that one. I haven't watched those for donkey's year. Are they worth revisiting? Thank you for sharing that.
Best regards,
TGV
Totally awesome piece that are very under appreciated. Some more on-screen Heuer's were Pierce Brosnan in Dantes Peak 1996. Brosnan wore a Heuer Coral 980 026 Monnin thick case that was his personal piece and Point Break 1990. Keanu Reeves also wore a Heuer Coral 980 026. So these watches do have some prominence. Also Sly Stallone wore a Heuer 2000 in Cobra and River Phoenix wore a Tag Heuer 1000 in Sneakers
@@theurbangentrythe Bourne movies are def worth rewatching.. very different than the Ludlum version, but might be a tight race between the movie version of the Bourne character and the Craig version of Bond.
Very VERY cool - when I see a TAG Heuer, I always think about Jason Bourne ☺️👍
This was a well thought out discussion on both brands, devoid of the hate for no real reason often seen online. I do think TAG Heuer is on the upward slope. Their latest Monaco iterations and their new glassbox Carrera releases have been stellar. I do think they're actually worth the price. I just want to see a bracelet option at some point. I do recommend getting the glassbox model on wrist if you've not tried it, TGV. Their titanium solargraph quartz Aquaracer models are also quite intriguing, but the line as a whole is well constructed (even including a quick adjust clasp), but lacking something. The Aquaracer Pro 1000 in titanium with the Kenissi movement has that certain something, but it's even a bit big for my 7 inch wrist.
Their 36mm Carreras that came out this year with SW300 based movements are quite cool, and at least have something more than the base SW200 for a high price. The older 39 and 41mm models with the ETA or SW2000s for $3K are ridiculously overpriced though. My father considered the 39mm blue one and the Aqua Terra 38.5mm in blue. Thankfully he decided to step up to the Omega, which is what was mentioned as an issue. If you're already at $3K, why not go up to $5k for a real luxury brand? If looking at an Aqua Racer, why not get a Tudor with a proper modern movement for relatively not a lot more?
Mark is right though. Where is more of the tech? They released new tech in the Autavia Isograph, then had to scramble to remove it after encountering issues. Have they lost their TAG mojo? Now it's just a nice looking, but unexciting watch without a high tech movement. The Autavia GMTs are quite attractive, but they're asking how much for a caller GMT with 50 hours of power reserve? Yes, $4,500. Yes, more than the price of a Tudor GMT!
The $5-6.4K 44mm Carrera chronographs are outdated and don't live up to nearby competition. As my AD rep says, just spend a bit more and get a far superior Speedmaster at that point. The quality comparison when holding both in hand is just no contest. The Speedy takes it without breaking a sweat. Often, I'd much rather pick a Longines if I want to save money. There's a brand that's really trended upward the last several years.
I'm always shocked when I still see the weird Link watches on displays. I guess they sell those to now old people that bought the originals and need to replace their watch? I just don't get it.
Don't get me started on their overpriced quartz models and what they've done to the once mighty Formula 1 line. Anyway, the former Zenith CEO is now in charge. It will be interesting to see what starts coming out a few years from now after he's had time to influence the brand.
Nothing else needs to be added on RM. I think that topic was perfectly covered.
Great video again Tgv. I must admit that Tag Heuer will always have a place in my heart as the watches of 80’s action heroes. Stallone wore a Heuer 972006 model in Cobra on a grey leather strap, Gibson wore a Formula 1 383513 in the Lethal Weapon movies and Die Hard 1 and 2 had great versions of the 2000 and 3000 chronograph models. All the best buddy🤙🏻
Also Pierce Brosnan wore a Heuer Coral 980 026 Monnin thick case in a few film's aswell. Dantes Peak being one of them. All black pvd coated on a bracelet
As a collector for most of my life, I can’t understand the TAG hate. Keeps the prices down for me though, lol.
I love the way you take advantage of the negatives for find a positive, I like your style
🙏🙏🙏 Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
I love Tag, best looking watches in my opinion 🤷♂️
I don't like every thing they done especially in the 90s. I own a few Heuer's but I do have a early Tag Heuer Night diver 989 113 from the mid 80s that I adore. Also the Tag Heuer Super Professional and 2000 chronographs were awesome 👌So there were some gems. The early ETA/ESA 536.121 and ETA 955.112 were indestructible. All of mine have been serviced and function flawlessly but the Tag Heuer Night 989 113 Night diver is soo thin with that very comfortable Jubilee bracelet and they are technically a Bond watch for the one's in the know 😉the mid 80s Tag Heuer's are basically Heuer's with Tag Heuer dials. So imop those early versions are the ones to get.
Love tag dials, but they really need to trash the Quartz movements, they charge rolex prices for orient quality
@@Ak-zf5rb I disagree. First off, Rolex prices? What Rolex can you get for $1500? I used to hate quartz too, but that was a phase for me. I’ve disassembled, cleaned and oiled plenty of high quality quartz movements. Orient quality? Good grief 😂 but I respect your opinion 🙏
Just bought the new Carrera glass box and it's really beautiful. The sapphire is shaped incredibly. RMs are just ugly.
I almost bought one as well. If you can grab one under $2k for the time-only, it is a lot of watch. That said, the Formex I bought instead is a better watch to me, but I am obsessed with a good polish on the case & bracelet.
@@sinesaii Under 2k are you taking the piss? These are like 5k plus watches 😂
Exactly. Marc's takes in this video are played out... like sooooo 5 years ago. What TH has been doing over the last couple of years is very impressive.
@@keefw361 You're thinking about the chronographs. The carrera date that the guy you've replied to was talking about is around 2.8k MSRP so not unreallistic to find one for 2k.
@@bananowyjestemsobie how do you know what he refering to? He mentioned nothing about a Carrera date and he was replying to a glassbox post
I went into this expecting to completely agree with the RM take (which I did) and to disagree with the Tag Heuer one, but having listened, I agree with all that was said.
This was a great video. Just an honest and relatable conversation. It was like sitting in a bar listening to friends chatting casually 👍.
Id rather have an Aquaracer over a Richard Mille 🤣
Ha, me too, any day of the week!

Me too r m plastic toy crap
@ronvalentine3578 Well, if he was poor he'd rather have a Richard Mille... then he could sell it and no longer be poor. With your logic, I wouldn't be shocked if you're poor.
@ronvalentine3578 no because just maybe he has taste
Agreed 👍
Yes a Watch Talk I look forward to these every month. Thankyou to both of you guys for doing these!
Personally, I can look at a Richard Mille watch and I can't tell what time it is.
Marc, you cut me to the quick! I own a black dial Carrera I bought in 2012, looks just like the one in the poster TGV showed in the video. I have it on a black leather perforated racing strap and I like it a lot. It’s in my regular rotation along with my Islanders….
Appreciate the great content as always, and look forward for many more to come in the future;)! Stay safe and take care!
Thank you! So much to come, I can't wait to share it all.

Another great collab. I enjoy these so much, I hope they never stop!
I love Heuer and have a few Heuer Coral 980 026 Monnin thick case, Heuer 981.006 Monnin JUMBO, Heuer 272.006 chronograph but I do have a early 80s Tag Heuer Night diver 989 113 that I absolutely love
Great pieces.
I was never a Tag guy, but I got converted in 2023. I got the Solargraph carbon, 60th anniversary Heuer Panda and the Aquaracer 38mm for my wife.
All of which are amazing in my humble opinion.
I do recommend everyone trying them on before judging.
Thanks as always for the excellent content and best regards TGV. 🙏🏻
How is your cheap rebranded Citizen movement holding up?
Hating a brand from their actions in the 90s (actions that made them extremely successful btw) is wild to me. It's 2024 for crying out loud. TAG Heuer has been on a roll lately.
Great point, that Skipper and glass box watches are very nice looking indeed. I think my own issue is more those giant smart watches and kinda "meh" releases in general more in the last few years. As a former TAG owner, I do miss my 1000 diver I have to say. Cracking little diver from the 90s.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry hard to blame you for calling out that monstrosity of a smart watch.
The Tag CT1111 is the only one I like. And it’s only because it’s Jason Bourne’s watch.
TAG Heuer was the first sort of higher end watch I ever received. My wife gave it to me when I got back from a deployment and it got me in to collecting. They're not my favorite brand anymore, but I really enjoy the couple that I have.
As always, a fascinating and entertainig discussion - with some very valid and well-made points. Neither brand really does anything for me, regardless of their various technical achievements. I love the comparison between G-Shock and RM, and let's not forget, one of the underlying ambitions of G-Shock was (and still is) to democratise the highly rugged and technical multi-functional watch - quite the antithesis of RM.
You said if even if you had the money, you wouldn't buy an RM. I've always felt that way about Rolex. They have just never appealed to me for some reason.
Agree, although the one Rolex I've always liked is the Explorer 1. Totally out of my price range so got the Pagani clone instead 🥳👍. Squeals my wheels!
Great fun listening to this! Now, having said that, as a child of the 80ies I’d love to have that Senna Tag at 11.30 🏁 Keep it up, boys 🖤
I do love the Tag Hauer Carrera- both the glassbox and the three hander. Granted, some of their watches are a bit expensive for the basic ETA or Sellita movement / not quite sure which one they put/ but the designs are nice and the case and bracelet finishing is quite good. Also, you can always get a nice discount when purchasing a Tag. keep up the good work with that great content.
Cruise ship deals are a great way to get a heavy reduction on pricing.
Wasn't expecting to hear so much F1 talk in today's video! Love how you brought up Mick Schumacher, that's Michael Schumacher's son!
Always like the TGV and Marc discussions. Been watching both channels for several years, and a customer of LIW. Agree and disagree on some of the points made about TAG. But TGV….Houston we have a problem! Pause at 6:33….An F1 watch with NASCAR in the background.
My love-hate brand is IWC. I think these are good watches but massively over priced for what they deliver especially design wise. Mostly they are just generic Flieger, Field or Dress watches watches. You can get the same from other low or mid price brands for much less money.
Thanks for the update big guy, love you! ❤
I recently brought my first TAG Heuer Aquaracer and I love it. I’m officially a fan of the brand.
How do you feel about tags new panda ?
I have the black and silver Glassbox... it's fantastic. What exactly do you think has more chrono pedigree than a Carrera? When you say that for $6K there are other choices, I can only think of one with the history. The Omega Moon Watch... and they could not be more different. (Though I will admit that the glassbox was the first Tag that stirred the loins in decades, but I am seriously thinking of adding the new Aquaracer Professional 1000 superdiver too).... As for looking unique, what else looks like the Aquaracer, the Monaco or the Carrera?
Hey, thinking about buying a Glassbox with the TH20 00. You have any thoughts on the watch and movement, like accuracy etc?
Favorite duo is back! Thanks guys! 👍

Hey guys! Love the video. As it popped up on UA-cam and I got to watch it I had your Rangemaster on my wrist. By coincidence. I love it. Thank you. I am not fond of Hublot and RM…
Everyone has an opinion. I love my Tag Aquaracer all black titanium 500m with yellow tipped seconds hand. Rolex and RM are too pricey for me. I’m also loving my JFK Dark&Stormy Islander as worn by Marc in the video. 🙏🏼
Today was a good day ! Battery for my Casio Sapphire , I love her ...
I do not like Richard Mille, but love Tag Heur for ever there are iconic models like the Carrera, Monaco and Formula 1
The use of a Monaco in Breaking Bad was awesome.
This might ruffle some feathers, the first Watch brand I lusted over, after Casio was Tag Heuer. I have had a few of them, first one was a Tag Heuer S/EL (with the alien like integrated steel bracelet), then a 2000 series Pro which I got a lot of wear wrist time, the 3rd Tag was Tag Heuer Carrera Caliber 5 Automatic 39.5mm and more recently a Tag Monaco. Not every ones cup of tea, but I liked them.
I'm with you all the way on RM. Tag Heuer I have a soft spot for. But great explanations and dialogue, as ever 👏
Wonderful video gentlemen. You all never fail.
Thank you!!!

Thank you so much TGV and Mark for hitting the nail on the head with this video! I truly agree with you that Tag Heuer is a high quality watch in general but lacks pizzazz! I can attest to this myself since my father wore his Tag Heuer for 15+years and then one day suddenly stopped wearing it and instead is wearing a seiko solar panda chronograph because of its better styling for a much more affordable price bracket. I also agree with you about Richard Mille that their styles are quite ugly to be honest, but have great engineering behind it! Another brand that I have a love hate releationship is Rolex since in my opinion they are overpriced and overhyped and I would rather go for Glasshutte original for that matter!
Stay healthy and well as always!

Great discussion….RM is the GSHOCK for the Billionaire! LOL! Tag’s Glass Box Skipper are very nice…maybe they are turning things around!
Been a Heuer fan since they were the leading force in F1 timing and sponsor of Ferrari. Heuer’s golden era was definitely under Jack in the 60s and 70s but they lost their way a bit after the TAG purchase. Now they’re leaning more on their heritage they’re getting there again. The haute horlogerie department never got enough recognition - mechanical chronographs timing 1/1000, 1/2000, 1/10000 of a second? Never mind the human error in stopping, starting and reading such fine divisions, they did it just to see if they could and that should be applauded.
21:58 FP Journe maybe? The opposite of Richard Mille in term of design, but I immediately thought of this one.
Totally agree with the old TAG (early 80’s forward) just about destroyed the Heuer brand. I have a 1969 Baylor. Baylor was Zales Jewelers store brand..”The poor man’s Heuer. “ Dan Henry’s site has the best history on this. I had a non-hacking hand cranking 39 mm bi-compax. It was $75.00. Tri-compax was 95.00 and I only had $75.00 so I got what I got…kind of nice that it has a friction fit bi directional World Timer bezel. So, 45 years later I got my tri-compax Heuer. The 2023 Glass Box Carrera is gorgeous. Out of the box running 6 sec per day fast in the wild , and a column wheel movement. On this one watch I have to disagree. An auto chronograph that is beautiful AND 39 mm…..it was a no brainer for me. Man, I really dig these vids you guys make. Thanks!.
Christopher Ward is a brand that seems to try to be doing the tech but at a more affordabl level - something you said Tag Heurer should be trying.
Excellent point, the Bel Canto was impressive.

@@theurbangentry... exactly the watch I was thinking of.
That almost Bond intro music was delightful! ❤
A TAG Heur Formula 1 dive watch with the full lume dial was my gateway watch. I still have it today, and my wife wears it. I remember pouring over the glow in the dark fabulousness! It still gives me the warm fuzzies. It is these little moments that provide value. Richard Miele watches yell “I am wealthy” and “I value this above everything else” - I think this is what decent people react against.
How can any watch fan criticize Tag Heuer in 2024? They were on fire in 2023, the glassbox is a modern day classic, and the 60th anniversary carrera was incredible too.
I will say this, it's a very nice looking watch, but then again 2023 was the year of the chrono, like I said before, the biggest trend in 2023. Everyone seemed to put some kinda chrono out. It's fair to say, there was a ton of stiff competition IMO.
Thank you, great point and comment.

Love my Tag Aquagraph and Link Chrono. My Link Chrono was given to me by a former employer as a going away gift. It's got a lot of sentimental value to me. My Aquagraph is just one the most badass dive watches EVER developed.
I own the McQueen Monaco, and it is by far the most stylish, unique watch in my collection, which is why I purchased it, an eye-catching design that is reminiscent of the coolest man in Hollywood, even though he wasn’t cool enough to pull off that watch outside of the movie
The TH Autavia field watch they discontinued a couple years ago is a near perfect watch. Still on my want list.
Hi T, been your viewer and subscriber for years now. Great video, but personally i think TH did well in 2023 and maybe beats Tudor in 2023 especially with the new skeleton Monaco with in house movement, the Carrera Glassbox, Carrera Skipper, Carrera X Porsche, few of Aquaracer 200m. In my opinion, Tudor is kinda saturated at this point especially with their dive watches segment, more to replicating the 60s 70s or 80s Rolexes ( in terms of designs )while Tag has been very innovative and impressive in 2023.
Hi TGV. Great video 👍. Perhaps you could do a survey to find out what is the $$ ceiling for viewers for any watch. ie $500, 5k, 10k? Just the number, not make or model, and justification! ?? Cheers.
My first decent watch was a Tag. Yes, influenced by the late eighties early nineties marketing in F1. And I still like the brand. Interestingly, listening how you guys talk about Tag, I noticed that I talk about Rolex with very similar expressions…. 😂
Heuer 1963/64 Carrera chronograph is one of the most beautiful watches ever made. There's been many tag Heuer reissue of this , and they're all fantastic.

Steve McQueen are enjoying a cigar up in heaven looking down on the haters sayin, “they hate us, cuz they ain't us!”
Tag Heuer did release the 2000 professional series which a few cheaper watch brands did steal and was a bit of an iconic 90’s watch. Plus Timothy Dalton wore one in Living Daylights, but that model was strangely never promoted as a bond watch. Bizarre as Tag are marketing geniuses.
He actually wore a Heuer Night diver 1000 ref 980 013 black pvd coated. It wasn't a Tag Heuer dial. The 1000 series are actually my favorite watches to collect. I also have a Heuer 2000 .272.006 chronograph that I love. Pierce Brosnan wore a Heuer Coral 980 026 aswell. That was his personal piece but he had the black dial not the full lumed. So these watches have some prominence
To be fair, Tag has been improving since last year at least partly. Some of the watches they released were quite considered like the Skipper, and the Glassbox.
What about the TH Glassbox or the TH Monza , I feel they are great pieces to collect
Great episode, TGV! Good to see you and Marc together again. I have trouble finding appreciation for a couple brands. MB&F and Corum are quite avant- garde for my taste, but they are technically quite interesting. For the life of me though, Seiko has more often than not almost always felt cheap and not quite finished. I have an SKX007 and a Flighty, but I have zero interest in any others. I have always felt Citizen made a better watch when it came to the Japanese. I know. I am the weird one. Anyway. Onward and upward. Be well!
First time together since Rangemaster Mechanical launch, yet no mention whatsoever of the watch, how it sold etc? Strange.
It sold out and crashed Marc's website. 😅😅😅. Besides, this was recorded before the launch.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Thanks TGV….hadn’t realised the chat was pre Rangemaster. Thanks for clarifying. Steve
Great discussion gents! I agree with you completely: two brands that I have zero desire to own whatsoever. I think when a design becomes so technical and loud (as in the case of Mille) you're no longer wearing "your" watch. There's no room for you in there. For me (and I think for most of us) we have to be able to see something of ourselves in a watch, before we really lust after it.
I can understand not liking Tag around the late 90s/early 2000s because some of the watches they were releasing were ugly. But the past 10 years they’ve really been releasing some lovely stuff. And of course their old Heuer watches are amazing.
11:39 - - The links on that TAG remind me of the links on some of the Seiko Windward line (I've owned a few). I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Seiko "borrowed" the design from TAG.
I still wear my Carrera quite a bit. It was my first “grown up” watch.
Started with TAG Heuers in the 90s and 2000s. Then moved on to Rolex, IWC, Sinn, Jaeger Lecoultre, Vacheron, Moser. And now back to Heuer/TAG Heuer. I have two of the reissue Carreras - the Panda 2447SN and the Dato 3147N with Hodinkee. Gorgeous. Will add a Monaco at some point.
I agree with everything about Tag Heur BUT the recent releases in 2023 were definitely in the right direction ! That new chrono with the domed crystal for example (can’t recall the reference).
Tag Heuer are smashing it at the moment and make some beautiful watches. They also make some not so beautiful but they’ve done their homework and there must be a market for them. It would be nice to see some of these influencers have their own views rather than act like sheep. I’m sure I’ve seen this channel highlight how well made Tag Heuer watches are. 🤷🏻♂️
I really like the new Carrera Glassbox. It seems that TAG Heuer with the arrival of Arnaud Jr. are heading in the right direction.
Love these vids. Great job.
In the mid -'90s I almost bought a Heuer Pilot chronograph. As it turned out the flight computer index marks were all off, rendering the bezel useless for computations. 😮
I’m surprised one of you didn’t pick Hublot.
I really dig the Tag Heuer Kirium. It's so 90s while being sleeker than the Link
Going to google that one, thank you!
Best regards,
TGV
I disagree! The new Tag Heuer Skipper doesn't look like "other watches out there", Marc. I also understand that this is not a new watch since they pull it from their archives but at least Tag Heuer is trying.
What magazine is this at 5:03?
The new Glassbox Carrera..boom. Great chat loved it thanks guys
Shouldn’t Hublot fall in the same category?
Tag Heuer are making some lovely pieces
For an ordinary man like me the most valuable thing money can buy is Anonymity and the subsequent Freedom, so paying top dollar to purchase a watch and being marked? No sir!
Thank you guys for wonderful video👌
Bought my Tag Hauer Aquaracer back in 2018, it's the timepiece that got me into watches so I'll never part with it. Strangely it's the design that drew me towards it over others in the same price bracket. I do admit that with hindsight it was a bit pricy compared to what's on offer nowadays especially the bracelet where screwed links and milled clasps are normal now, my Aquaracer has neither. Still love it though.
You and me both brother! I was looking for a used diving watch and and immediately fell in love with the aquaracer. The size and design were perfect for me. I got it for like 1300 Euro and is now worth like 1700 :)
Though I'm not planning on ever selling it
