I am mad at myself for having to hit the bathroom while he played this in Clearwater on March 21st. At least I wasnt fool enough to leave before the four encores.
I bet he just loved the day that thing showed up for him to keep in tune and holy crap it might not get played a lot but it will need re-stringed from time to time. And here I am such a light weight that I traded off a nice Alvarez ? or was it a Takamine ? 12 string acoustic because I loathed keeping it in tune and that was just for myself and possibly when my band played acoustic shows every month or two.
not quite the only one on earth. Scott Chinery commissioned Linda to make a second Pikasso with no pickups and more inlay. Now owned by a collector. She also made a 36 string archtop version with a soprano, fretless 6 string neck in place of the top 12 on Pat's.
@@SonnyDee1999 The Chinery one, yes. I played it a few months ago in Woodstock. The archtop 36 string lives with me. It's an amazing work of musical art.
Andre has been Pat's guitar tech for about two years, and Carolyn trained him. It would seem like Carolyn retired, at least retired from touring. She toured with Pat for almost 40 years! She's probably in her early 60s now. I hope she's staying well.
That guitar is going to collapse from string tension. You can see the wood on the face curling. I am a luthier and I hope Pat sends that back to Linda so she can add the needed additional bracing for the face.
Why? Pat’s been using it since the 70s…if anyone can create a masterpiece with the Picasso, it would be the man that has played it regularly for 50 odd years or more. lol. To date, Pat said he’s cranked out 53 albums. Can Ichita Nito say the same? I do have Nito’s signature guitar btw…but I use it with Pat’s tunes. 😄
Don't worry, this guitar is well taken care of. It has seen a lot of use, repair and modifications (there was originally another headstock for the vertical strings down the middle). Pat has been using this guitar almost 40 years, and he has been touring with it consistently since 1997.
@drummerflex Yes I've seen him play this very incredible instrument. I've seen the Pat Metheny Group many times , sorry to say I've missed him with his new group and his solo tour. Keep the faith 🙏.
It's pretty cool except all those bridges are stressing the top of the guitar and it's cracked right down the middle. Needed better reinforcement it appears.
They don't know who Pat Metheny is because they're "Swifties" who listen to the most banal, pedanic, vacuous crap out there called 'pop.' When asked what she thought of today's music Joni Mitchell replied, "There is no muse, just ick."
Its a big mistake to not be trying to get this guitar into production. Even if it costs 5 grand, this is an instrument that NEEDS to be in the hands of more guitarists. The strain on that body must be insane though. You can even see how it's cracking the top shell, but I'm sure that could be solved by more robust supports in the body, though it would definitely reduce resonance which might be a trade off not worth it on an instrument like this. I'm even more curious how they mic this bad girl up and what kind of signal chain they're running it through. PLEASE make this guitar availablee somewhere for sale. I NEED this. lol.
It’s so weird seeing a video of Pat Methenys guitar and seeing comments of people who have no idea who he is
For real! This guitar is synonymous with Pat.
Just saw him last night. He gets better and better
Saw him yesterday live. Best acoustic I've ever heard
Someone call Rob Scallon!
hahaha :)
This seems like the kind of guitar Luca Stricagnoli would play.
Didn't the great Luca play something similar to this, a few years back?
Facts lol
Pat’s probably the only person that can play it.
Amazing how Pat is able to create and develop newer sounds - reshaped 'Jazz'.in ways we'll likely never see again
What an artist...phenomenal musician ❤

"That looks very Pat Met... of course it is. Who else would play it."
Beautiful resonance..
Just saw him play that beauty in Dallas last month. Pat's the man!❤
Absolutely Amazing
I saw Pat play this guitar live. Strangely Beautiful guitar!
Mind blown!🤯
I want one!!! ❤
They cut the part where he says that he hates tuning that
I’s be scared even holding it!
Amazing
42 strings and it does in fact djent
Have fun tuning that
Super glue the ends of the split on the soundboard ,If it buzzes at certain frequencies
he’s a guitar tech bruh i think he knows what he’s doing.

They’re selling it on reverb rn for eighty-thousand dollars!

Nice to see this. I have one question, if anyone can update me… Did Caroline retire?

The dream of real life Animusic is drawing closer 💜
IMMEDIATELY WHAT I THOUGHT LOL
Hey, Andre, it's me Gene!
I would spend forever trying to obtain this guitar and finally get it only to play smells like teen spirit
😂😂😂😂
Love to see Pat Play all the necks! How much does that beast cost (priceless?)
Forces on that sound board could tear our universe apart in the wrong hands. This device must be guarded 24/7
It’s the portable version of resonant chamber from animusic!
I would love to see somebody play this. Is there any video of someone playing a song on this anywhere?
Pat Metheny (who owns the guitar) playing "Into the Dream" ua-cam.com/video/SWAyf3Ywyeo/v-deo.html
@@RichardibaAwesome
The top is already buckling underneath all that tension.
What's more impressive is the bracing hwy that must be under that top
Very nice ,try playing it 😊😊😊
0:30 Abmaj7b5/Eb maybe?
Yay
It's not the only one on earth. Another was made for renowned collector Scott tinery
Id love to hear the forbidden riff on this guitar
Reminds me of the resonant chamber (animistic)
Muita inteligência parabéns ❤
Is this before or after Steve Vai hydra guitar?
Long before

What's the strange arpeggio sound?
Would Love to See Marcin play this guitar....
@RobScallon you have a job to do
Does it djent?
I could grate cheese with this, and that’s it.
i bet if the video went on just a little longer he says "...and i hate working on this so much"
Someone told me, he was tuning that for 24 hours before this video was taken.
I know you’re joking but it actually takes approximately 20 minutes
Can we get Steve Vai on this pleeeeeeeeeese?
Se nota que le falta refuerzo a la tapa armonica ya que esta cediendo a la tension
I guess you can only fret the 6 string?
why?
That looks like that cgi musical instrument thing!!!
Animusic is real
Did Carolyn retire?
partially. I was talking to her on Saturday.

Thats what i thought, you can see splitting below the main bridge
Thats kinda sad
@@ArseAllowance Yup. That guitar is poorly braced.
Damn it is, such a shame. One of the most unique and beautiful sounding guitars I've ever heard
@@ArseAllowance It's 40 years old and has been gigged relentlessly. The guitar is maintained regularly and the "crack" isn't going anywhere.
Apparently your a beginner level luthier
Can't wait to see Michael Angelo Batio play this 😄
Give this to Ichika Nito, he’ll make a masterpiece
Like Pat's some kinda slouch or sumthin

Imagine restringing it💀💀💀💀
Yeah just get a piano at that point lol
What drugs were Pat smoking when he thought of this?!
It looks like a kid with ADD built it
Whats that cost? Couple hundred?😂
You would never put 42 steel strings on any guitar if you understtood the nature of guitar tone.
This one sounds incredible.
That’s a weird looking guitar

Some dumb woman in the background blabbing about Korn at the very end.

5 grand? Are you serious? Linda’s guitars start at around $20,000 and this is NOT where they start. A guitar like this would be in six figures easily.
